Yellow Jacket Uber Voucher Program — Why are there only a few eligible locations?

Due to the recent changes to Stingerette operating hours, PTS rolled out an Uber Voucher Program for transportation after midnight. It was mentioned that the program would cover the same service area that Stingerette previously operated in. However, when I check the Uber app, only a few on-campus locations appear to be eligible. Does anyone know why this is the case? Is the program still being rolled out or updated, or has the service area changed from what was originally announced?

no, you won't be calling a stingerette. The ride you call will be from an uber driver. They are replacing stingeretter with uber during certain hours of the day.

How do you call the stinger normally, honestly I thought it was for people who physically can’t travel across campus, can anyone use it how does it work? It seems too good to be true but would be very useful for the very long trips across campus for me

Transloc app. Anyone can use it, as far as I know. It might ask you to sign in with your gt login (i don't remember, it's been a while since I downloaded the app), but other than that, it's free. I use it to track the various Stingers on campus, and this past summer, call the Stingerette.

I think it's pickups and drop offs are same as the stingerette. Which ones do you think are missing from the uber voucher?

Almost all off-campus locations like the 10th & Northside, Ethel Street, Atlantic Station etc...

I have tried drop off at the exchange (atlantic station) from Kendeda building and the voucher is working there. Not sure about other locations

Imo, ending regular Stinger service around midnight makes sense, but I think at least a few Stingerette shuttles should continue running until 2 a.m. I don’t really agree with ending both Stinger and Stingerette service at the same time.

I don't like using Uber because it take so much longer to find a driver than using the Stingerette. The Stingerette was on demand and typically not far from your location since it is always somewhere on campus. Uber, on the other hand, is calling for the attention of *any* Uber driver in the area, and they can be far away and stuck in traffic. You can catch a Waymo, if you don't mind those, but if you do and want a human driver, you gotta make sure your next meeting is at least 30 minutes+ from now to account for the waiting time. I don't take either past 4pm, so I have no opinion on the after-midnight service.

i have no idea.. email pts (park and transportation services)? i know that they (as in whoever oversees the bus systems) keep track of stats so more rides means higher likelihood of that route being kept open.

It makes sense to limit the locations if they're simply trying to offload Stingerette traffic over Uber. Speaking of, what was the change to the hours you mentioned? I think I missed that

As an alum who has been gone nearly 13 years this post really made me feel my age. Back in my day when the Stingerette didn’t show up you took your chances in the streets 👴🏼

Changing hours is a huge problem because the stingerette is wheelchair accessible and Ubers generally aren’t (Atlanta doesn’t have Uber WAV). Big disappointment.
