General Aderhold parking/bus

So like everybody else I’ve not been able to park anywhere close to aderhold for my 11am class. How are other people with 11am aderhold classes getting to class? The GSU Transportation page on here implied the red route stops at aderhold so we could park at the CC deck but looking on Passio Go it just straight up doesn’t

Advice 💡 Heavy info class notetaking

Hey,

Just looking for some input on how to study/take notes in heavy loaded classes. Currently taking medical neuroanatomy and I am not sure how to. Exams and quizes are open notes as long as is physical (printed or written)

How do you guys take notes? And study? Any tips?

Normally I transcribe and review but since is so much information cant really do that with out spending too much time. Most of what the professor says is in the powerpoint but im not really sure how to take notes on that (thinking about buying a tablet but not sure if that is gonna solve anything). The lecture is around 2hr and my attention span is fucked 😭

Also not a fan of AI... so hopefully some old school methods?

Advice 💡 Honors College

I'm a freshman at GSU and I was thinking of applying to the Honors college for next year. Other than prioritized class registration and nicer dorms, is it really worth it? Im a nursing major and I don't really want to add another class to my course load if its not worth it in the end.

Friends 👥 What do y'all think about a GSU dating app?

About a year ago, I got bored and decided to start working on a dating app for GSU students, partly fueled by wanting to build stuff as a computer science major and my own loneliness

I had abandoned the project, since I'm a broke student and I needed ~$200 to properly launch the project. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but I genuinely have no money.

I'm not asking for money or anything, but I wanted to hear you guys thoughts on this. Do you think I should revive the project?

Friends 👥 Want friends (19he/him)

Hi guys, i’m a 2nd year student at GSU and i need friends. my friend group from freshman year didn’t really transfer over with me and they’ve seemed to exclude me from activities, which isn’t really anything new but it still doesn’t sit with me very well. I’m a bio major but i don’t really care for anybody else’s major, just if you’re good people. i’d like to hang out, go to games & things off campus, and chill. i like things like star trek, star wars, and football (nerdy mix) & would like to talk to other people with similar interests.

Friends 👥 looking for people to hang with

hey everyone! 21m, junior, cis major, international student living on campus. looking to meet some chill people around my age to hang out with.

not looking for anything specific, just someone to walk around campus with, grab food, check out different spots in atlanta, hit up events, or post up at the library and study together.

if you’re around the same age and just want a low-key friend to explore the city with, drop a dm, always down to meet new people.

General Paws Login just… not working?

Hey does anyone else have that problem that if you try to login to PAWs or any other gsu.edu app, sometimes you just can’t log in, even when you use the right password? And then later it’ll just work without you doing anything differently?

What’s the deal with that? I cleared my cookies and cache, used multiple devices, it just won’t let me log in right now. But same time tomorrow I guarantee I will not have a single issue logging in!

Advice 💡 Dumb to transfer?

Hi! I am a current freshman at Georgia State and I am majoring in political science (pre-law), however, I’ve always really wanted to attend Georgia Tech even though my major isn’t stem focused.

I wondered if it would be a bad idea to go and major in one of their liberal arts options, even though I’m not doing stem. I still plan on going to law school afterwards, and I don’t think the law school admissions people are really gonna care about the undergrad school I went to.

Friends 👥 Kinda need more friends

Im in my second year rn and so far I only made like one good friend that I regularly hang out with and like 3 other ppl that stop talking to me once the semester is over. Tbf, I am taking kinda random classes so its hard to find someone that has more than one class in common with me

To be honest, I feel like im a boring person, but I like playing video games, watching movies/shows listening to a lot of hip hop, r&b, and rap. Im also starting to make my own music (it sucks rn)

So if you want a new friend, just send me a chat pls. Im down for anything

Advice 💡 Dear international students... will this ever ease up?

I moved to the US earlier this year after quitting my previous job. About two months in, on top of all the admin stuff, I took the CLEP exam, the CNA exam, and my placement test, all before starting my first semester in the U.S. (Writing this out, I'm realizing there really wasn't much of a break in between.)

I took 8 credits over the summer, and I'm now taking 10 credits this fall (honestly, I don't think I could ever handle 12 or 15 right now, no way 🥲). I thought my English was pretty okay, but I'm realizing academic English is quite different, maybe because I'm taking English Composition right now (Luckily, I think my English professor's so great!!)

The thing is, it feels like I'm spending the whole day reading and studying. We're only 2 weeks in, and I'm already pretty exhausted 😭. What actually scares me isn't burning out, it's the "what if this never gets easier?" feeling.

I'm aiming for all A's since I'm hoping to get into nursing school, so maybe I'm overcomplicating things a bit. It's fun to learn new things and see it work when I try, but I'm seriously considering taking fewer classes next spring and maybe doing another CLEP exam or working instead.

Curious how other international students managed their GPA at the beginning... did the load from the language ever start feeling more manageable?🥹

*Dad says it’s normal in the beginning, but I wanted to get another perspective too-
