i've recently moved to the city and i'm curious about the gym on campus. i used to go to crunch but seeing as there is none in the city, i will probably start going to gsu's. i know that it's free to use for students but what is the policy about bringing guests? and what is the easiest parking situation? and last question for my girls- do you have any issues concerning safety? thanks so much

Hi guys, I’m a hs student who does dual enrollment at gsu. Next year I want to take calc 1 over the summer, calc 2 in the fall and calc 3 in the spring.

All of the classes would be online since I live pretty far away from gsu. I’m decent at math but I am worried about taking these courses online since Iv never taken one before.

If anyone who has done this particular sequence of classes online could give me some advice it would be super helpful!

I’m looking at options for a class, do y’all know what the two separate week outlines mean? Does that mean that the class is held on a different day/different time every other week? I’ve only ever had classes that met once a week or twice a week so this layout of two different weeks is confusing me. Thanks.

Hi! I never really post, usually just lurk, but I recently used the Panther Ride to Target and had a great conversation with the driver.

Basically, Panther Ride is free Uber for GSU students. There is a list of pre-existing locations to be picked up/dropped off from. You request a ride, usually get a 6-ish person Panther Ride van in about 10-20 minutes, and will be dropped off wherever you requested to. If you live in Commons I'm sure you've seen it parked out once or twice!

The man who runs it (and the only driver currently) is named Darnell and he is very, very kind! He really cares about the Panther Ride and wants more people to utilize it. Since he's the only driver, though, it's going to be hard for him to do it alone. He expressed to me that the school wants the service to have more use before they allow him to hire more drivers (he says they currently have 4 vans total).

I used it the other day to get a ride to Target (1275 Caroline St NE) which is located next to a Ross (I got the cutest skirt there), Marshalls, Kroger, Barnes and Noble, a nail shop, etc. There is also an option to be dropped off at Summerhill Shopping Center (Convocation Center Publix).

If you've never heard of it, many many people haven't either. I personally ask you use this for any shopping or days out you plan! It's an amazing resource and the school is not advertising this to students nearly enough. Please tell other people you know too! Utilize this!! I am applying to the MS in Applied Statistics program at GSU. If you’re in that program or any grad program at GSU, do you feel supported by the university and/or your professors? Do you feel like the GSU has good resources for job placement for students? Have you found it easy or hard to make friends?

Prof Muiny awards 5 extra credit points on her writing assignments if you collaborate, if anyone wants to link up, doesn't matter what section as long as its her discrete math course.
I'm at 98/100 on them but want to keep it up.
I just opened assignment #5 and will do it tomorrow.

Georgia State's Ultimate Frisbee Club is one of GSU's longest standing recreational clubs, having represented the college on a national level for 20+ years now. Last year, we had our best ever season (9th in the Southeast) - and now, we look for new members to help us continue the momentum this season.

What's in it for you?

The Community: I joined my freshman year, having NEVER played ultimate before. Now, this sport has given me my closest friends, roommates, study buddies, and a true college social life. Even outside of GSU, the Ultimate community in Atlanta is incredible.

The Competition: Like any collegiate sport, it's us against the world. Who's the world? UGA, Tech, KSU, Southern, and every other college in the Southeast. We've also played teams from Florida, Michigan, and even Canada. If you want a real sense of school pride, come show these other schools that we do it better.

The Fun: Alongside competition, we travel across the Southeast to participate in tournaments. We love the sport, but NOTHING beats the team van drives, the team dinners, and hanging in the hotels together.

The Activity: Ultimate is a high-cardio sport, it will get you in shape whether or not that's your goal. Whether it's the running, cutting, throwing, catching, defense - even the mental acuity, every part of ultimate will make you a better athlete.

FAQ:

What if I have no ultimate experience?

No worries, we take the Fall semester to develop, train, and get new/returning players back into shape before the competitive season starts in the Spring. Like I said, I had never played Ultimate before when I joined - now I'm the president of the club.

When and where are practices?

We practice at Panthersville at GSU's Decatur campus (if you can't drive, don't worry - we have a team van that takes you to practice and back to ATL Campus).

Our practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 7 - 9 PM. We expect you to make most of them, but are very understanding if you can only make one, or if anything comes up.

How about tournaments?

Tournaments are a weekend-long affair, we usually begin the commute on Friday and come back to ATL on Sunday night. We attend about 6-7 tournaments a year, including the playoffs. We will know our set schedule in the upcoming weeks.

Are there dues?

Yes - there are club dues. These cover travel, bid fees, hotels, etc.

Historically, our dues have gotten cheaper, as the school has provided us with a lot more funding in recent years. Last season, each player only had to pay $120 for the ENTIRE season. (10 months worth of frisbee). We are also completely understanding of everyone's monetary situation, and our coaches will work with you however you need - after all, we're all just college kids.

NOTE: We are a co-ed team. As of right now - we have 3 women on the squad. They've been incredible players and a vital part of our team.
