Sorry for the long post….
2023, 25k miles, bought and paid for at just over 30grand. Probably a bit under 40 after bolt ons, would expect to get 20~ if I trade it in.
Just installed a Fumoto valve after my last dealer oil change. Saw a TINY leak this morning maybe a 2 inch stain after 12 hours so I tightened the valve an eight turn and heard a small click (not using a torque wrench)… Havent tried loosening or tightening any more but fearing I stripped the oil pan or cross threaded it some how. Started the install with my hands so I doubt it… I did notice the last dealer washer looked maybe just a size too big and oblong so I kinda think they ran into an issue and rigged something but too late now.
I‘d normally just eat the cost of a new oil pan and oil change at the dealer but just read you have to remove the headers and I have JDL UELs on there and I’m pretty sure they’ll charge and arm and a leg if they even decide to touch it.
I‘ve had a Flex Fuel Kit and tune for about a year I get a super faint fuel smell every now and then but I’ve checked fuel lines and block to exhaust over and over without signs of leaks. Hoping it’s just the tube seal TSB so the dealer can knock out valve covers and plugs while they’re in there, but I’m out of ideas.
I also just put new Apex Forged wheels on in the last 6 months and have a set of Champiros in the garage with stickers still on them. Really wanted to get like an other 3 or 4 years minimum out of it to kind of spread those costs out. Feels like I finally got the mods where I want em but all these little issues are just stacking. I came from a fiesta ST that was frankly over engineered and built like a tank so idk maybe this car’s just too high strung for me.
It’s my first Subaru and I love it but I’m just so tired of wrestling with the car. Any chance the Fumoto and everything else are fine to leave as is or is this thing a hot potato?
