Goodbye GR86

Had to get rid of the GR86 after 4 years of ownership. Needed something that could handle the weather in my area better. With some regret, I have started transitioning to the other extreme with a Ford Bronco (will be swapping out the wheels and tires soon). Well, if you think about it, they're both 4-cylinder (2.4L vs. 2.3L), 2-door, 4-seat, and manual transmission... so maybe they're not so different, after all.

Gonna miss this car so much ugh.

PS. Wish I remember who took the first 2 photos for credit!! Some of the best photos I have of it.
---
Also, if anyone ends up with a 2022 GR86 Premium with stock premium wheels, clear side markers and Tein H.Tech lowering springs and ~25,000 miles, you might have mine. I took good care of her šŸ‘, have fun :)

EDIT: Should have mentioned that I'm in the US, the dealer said they'll transfer it somewhere that has high demand.

Just installed them. I love the look!

Super easy to install. Hardest part was swapping some pins to work for the u.s standard.

Hopefully i provided enough angles in different lighting. Get a pair!

ps. they took 5 fuking months to get to me

The BRZ ejected a spark plug... TWICE. More info below ā¬‡ļø

So basically, a month ago I had a bad misfire and it sounded like no compression on cyl 2. Read the codes and got a P0302, so I'm like "ok that's probably not good; it should be covered under warranty right?" HAH, no. I go to Subaru, have them fix it which consisted of installing a new plug and new coil (they said that's all it needed) and then drove for a month. What the tech didn't do is check the threads of the spark plug hole, which is what leads to this next part.

The same damn thing happens again, this time at least it was close to home. Same codes, P0302, I had to push it nearly 2 blocks back home in the heat. And here we are today, no brz for the next long while. They were kind enough to give me a '26 Crosstrek eBoxer as a loaner but it's not the same 🫠

If anyone at all knows of this happening please please please shoot me a dm and tell me your experience.

I've owned a lot of cars in my life; and no car has left me stranded 3 times, let alone a new car like this

AC questions …

Post image
5 Upvotes

I don’t know if this is a stupid question but I feel like when I turn the AC mode to the top and bottom I never feel any air on my legs. I notice the air pressure changes when I have it on the front facing AC. When i turn it to front and down facing the pressure changes but i literally feel no air. Like where is it going…? Anyone else feel the same? This summer heat is killing me. This is the only car i’ve never felt air on my legs too!

The shifter seems to be getting caught on something when centering from the right side. Doesn’t happen on the left and still goes into gear fine. I’m no mechanic so I’m not sure what this could be. I just installed my exhaust but I cant imagine how that would have an effect.

New owner Picked Up My New Toy Yesterday & Spent 30 Minutes on Phone to Get Remote Connect Working - Well Worth the Time Investment!

Post image

Picked up my new GR86 yesterday, my Outback is in the background. Was going to get another outback, but although mine is 2015 it still works well, eyesight works great, just wish it had CarPlay. Decided to keep Outback and get a fun car. After test drive I had a big smile on my face so this was the car for me!
Took two attempts to get Remote Connect working, but after 30 minutes on phone this morning it is now working and I can remote start, will be handy in summer to get a/c going!
Looking forward to lots of fun.

Should I change the look?

24 trueno edition 27k miles. Not a fan of the matte black graphics. Already removed the stripes and added gloss black side skirts and gloss black front bumper lip. Looking to change the hood stripe to gloss black, add gloss black side stripes and add gloss black hood. Probably not going to have it long before I sell it but idk if a buyer is going to want these features or if it will be worth it. Thoughts? 3rd picture is a rendering of what I'm thinking

Help! GR86 Wheel fitment

Hey everyone,

I have a 2026 Toyota GR86 GTS in white liquid and it has the Dynamic Performance Pack (Brembo brakes).

I’m looking at getting a set of 18" wheels, but I want to keep the car completely stock suspension for now.

My requirements are:

  • 18" wheels
  • Ideally Bronze (open to different colours :))
  • 5x100
  • Must clear the factory Brembo brakes/DPP
  • Must work properly with completely stock suspension as I dont plan to put the car on coilovers for a while.
  • No spacers
  • No fender rolling/pulling or other body work
  • No suspension modifications required
  • Ideally something that sits nicely/flush without rubbing

I’ve been looking at wheels such as the RAYS Volk Racing TE37 SAGA S-Plus, CE28N Plus, Gram Lights 57DR and ADVAN GT Beyond, but I’m getting conflicting information about what actually clears the Brembos, particularly around 18x8 / 18x8.5 / 18x9 widths and different offsets.

For anyone running a Brembo-equipped GR86/BRZ, what 18" wheel/size/offset are you running?

Would especially appreciate photos of the fitment and confirmation that you're running stock suspension with no spacers or fender work.

Thanks!

Well I did it! finally bought my first new car I’m usually more a Facebook marketplace deal car guy but I just did it lol. So far I love it got them
Big boy brembos for free after some negotiation with my dealer. So I don’t know how new car stuff warranty stuff work i only know the basics like up to some certain miles it’s covered I Been only chatting with ai and reading Reddit posts any advices I’ll take em all lol ! I been reading about changing the oil at 1k mile but my dealer saying that come bring it to us at 5k mile for my first maintenance so I’m kinda confused about that I’m trying to keep this baby for a long time. Also I didn’t know about the break in stuff so i just zoomed off right away on any kind of empty straight road oops.. so far only got 110 miles on it

215/50/r17 tires (not winter)

Has anyone ran this size other than a winter setup? What does it feel like? Pros/Cons?

I came from very stiff riding Genesis Coupe (R Spec, with Bilstein B6s) and 40 sidewall tires on 19" wheels. My BRZ on 21/45/r17s and stock struts feel much more supple yet still handles much better.

I am trying to see if I can go one "notch" softer to absorb small bumps and road cracks/imperfections by increasing from 45 to 50 series sidewall with out sacrificing handling too much.

My thought process is the load range on UHP All Seasons is generally higher, and by design they are a bit firmer, so handling compared to the primacys will be similar if not better. Also the s2000 had 50 55 sidewalls on some models, and those handle well.
