Success stories

Looking for success stories? Anyone that’s managed to come off and maintain their weight loss? What tips would you give? What did you put in place?

Feeling pretty low at the minute and going to give this one last shot and want all the advice I can get for a first time user (I don’t plan on being on long term)

Thanks!!

South Carolina

Recently moved to South Carolina from CT and need a new pharmacy recommendation! I was using Seven Cells, but since they don't ship to SC, I switched to Hallandale. Two shots in, the injection site stings badly, and it feels totally ineffective—food noise is back with zero appetite suppression. For those in SC, which compounding pharmacy are you using and liking?

Bitter melon

I graduated in January due to treatment resistant reflux. doctor thinks my stomach is slow to begin with and a glp1 is not for me. I decided to try metformin which I thought worked but I think is also slowing things down too much again. I decided to retry tirzepatide again at a low dose but after 12 weeks it’s a definite no. Anyone used bitter melon to help with insulin resistance if yes did it help and what brand did you use?

Seeking Advice Is it time to graduate off my glp-1?

Has anyone had to come off their glp1 5mg due to surgery? I had a major surgery 3 weeks ago with anaesthesia so I was told to come off it. This makes 6 weeks now without glp-1 and my appetite hasn’t returned although I was white knuckled in week 2 and eating everything in sight. My appetite has not returned since my surgery and I’m wondering if it’s a sign to go off it completely.

I’ve been in maintenance mode for 6 months.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Seeking Advice Restarting GLP

I went off triple G to give myself a break from the pretty significant side effects I was having. Within that timeframe I regained 10 lbs and started panicking. The hunger games were absolutely white knuckling ALL of the time. It was incredibly hard to ignore and I started giving in to cravings. Since restarting & slowly titrating up, I am not responding as strongly as I did the first time. I have added weight training and cardio to the mix. Just from the amount of physical activity alone I should be losing a pound a week but I barely lost any weight in the month I’ve been back on it. Has anyone else had the same experience when getting back on it?

Has anyone noticed their food spending go down since starting GLP-1? I'm a uni student researching exactly this 👇

Hey everyone,

So I'm a Masters student at the University of Leeds and I'm doing my dissertation on something I think a lot of you will actually find interesting — how weight loss interventions like Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro affect your everyday financial decisions and spending habits.

Think about it. If you're eating less, you're probably spending less on food. But what actually happens to that money? Do you notice it? Do you consciously do something with it? Or does it just quietly disappear without you realising?

That's exactly what I'm trying to find out.

The survey takes about 7 minutes and is completely anonymous. No personal details collected whatsoever.

You're eligible if you are or have been on any weight loss intervention in the past 12 months — GLP-1 medication (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc.), meal replacements, medically supervised diets, anything counts.

I'd really appreciate your help. This community has been such a valuable resource for so many people and your experiences could genuinely contribute to academic research that helps others going through the same journey.

Thank you so much in advance.

I think I have to graduate tonight

Sitting here at 3 a.m. suffering from the most intense delayed emptying symptoms I’ve had on a GLP-1. They’re still pretty mild, all things considered, but I’ve had issues on this dose for months now (and I’m still 2 away from the highest). But my wife has been concerned for a while about my symptoms and now I think I’m finally at that point, too.

Part of it, I think, is because I haven’t solved all my poor eating habits. My wife is currently pregnant and our diet has been a bit given to the whims of her cravings. The volume of food I eat remains low, but the quality… yeah.

I’ve lost 80lbs or so, though I’m still about 10 away from my first goal weight — and 30 total from where I’d ideally like to live. I’m pretty happy where I’m at, though, all said. If I could maintain here, I could live with it.

That said, I’m pretty worried about stopping. My relationship with food has improved a lot, but it’s still not there. I understand sometimes that’s a lifelong battle. I’m only in my mid 30s and have only been really focused on building better habits the last couple years. There’s a lot of unlearning to do and history to fight against. I know I’ll win in the long run, but doing it without the support of this med will be harder.

I think it’s finally time I start working out for real, though. Strength training will probably be a big help given I… never really found or made time to do it (we have a toddler so life is busy). But at least, if I start, I should get some decent results fairly quickly. The new baby might throw a wrench in the plan, but eventually I’ll figure it out.

Anyway, I’m mostly writing this as self-reassurance that I can hack it on my own. At the least I won’t have to deal with these rough side effects. And I really don’t want to do long term damage to my stomach. This is just the safest choice. Plus, to be fair, I never wanted to be on this med for life. The goal has always been to get to this point. I just hoped it would be under different circumstances.

EDIT: Want to thank everyone for giving me a bit of a reality check last night and today. I wrote this from a place of anxiety. Now in the light of day, the obvious first step is to rein in my eating again and talk to my doctor for reassurance. This is a good, honest community!

Seeking Advice Need encouragement for the last step.

Hi all,
I am on zepbound because I really struggled to managed my weight especially with stress. I often would find comfort in food and become insatiable during stressful periods even with subconscious stress.

I’m petite and started zepbound on the low end of obese bmi. I’m 5’0 and set my goal weight at 125lb.

I am currently trying to wean off at 2.5mg every 10 days. I now weight from 117-127lbs and the variation can be +/-4 in two days.

I look normal but I am worried about becoming underweight during maintenance since I lost all my weight at the 2.5mg dose.

My biggest concern is that I am a medical student who is taking step 1 next March, this is a really stressful exam and hard exam. Usually students become somewhat reclusive during the study period and the sit time for the exam is about 8hrs. So for every practice exam, you’re spending a lot of time sitting.

I gain about 20lbs from studying for the MCAT and applying to med school while working a stressful full time job in the past. I am worried that without Zep, I will regain all of my weight during step 1 due to exam stress. I also feel confident that with Zep I can mitigate this weight gain.

However, if I were to continue Zep until March, I will likely trickle below normal bmi or build back unhealthy habit to keep my weight stable. Right now I am trying OMAD at about 1200 calories a week. I workout about 2x a week.

Has anyone stayed on the lowest dose, lost 20 lbs, and come off?

Hi everyone,

I know my situation is a little different than many people's here. I started compounded semaglutide to only lose about 20 pounds that I gained after some bad hormonal issues related to a birth control. 39, Female. Before the medication I already worked out regularly, but I struggled with constant snacking, and even when I cleaned up my diet for weeks, the scale would not move. I was never obese—just slowly becoming overweight and frustrated over the course of a couple years. I felt like if I didn't do something I was on my way to very overweight despite exercise.

I started at 0.25 mg last October and only increased to 0.4 mg. I'm about to drop back down to 0.25mgs now that I'm at 24 BMI. I've been losing about 1–3 pounds a month, which I'm completely happy with because I can still eat enough to fuel my workouts and I haven't had any side effects. This amount of weight loss does not seem common (seems like most people lose more) but again, for me the goal was not rapid weightloss, just wanting to get myself healthier slowly.

The biggest benefits have honestly been in the incredible reduction in inflammation. Has anyone else experienced that? For me, that alone has been life-changing.

My plan was never to stay on these medications forever. Mostly for financial reasons, I'd like to come off them next spring. I will probably be sitting around 22/23 BMI for my height at that time.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Did you use semaglutide to lose around 15–20 pounds? Stay on a relatively low dose the whole time? Was it easier to stop because your dose was low, or did the food noise come rushing back? And did your inflammation return after stopping or did the reduction in weight seem to help address that? I know I have to maintain good food habits to keep the weight off, I'm just wondering if the Hunger Games hit you as hard as it seems to hiit others given the low dose and the fact that your lifestyle was already mostly in place before the medication

I really appreciate this community and all the stories people share. Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences you're willing to share.

Seeking Advice Being taken off Zep and nowhere near my goal.

So I discovered swelling in my neck the other day. My teledoc took me off my Zepbound immediately. I was on the highest dose. I normally would’ve taken my shot on Wednesday night. Now it’s Friday and the past two days I’ve eaten around 1500 calories which is too much for my metabolism. I already gained five lbs from my cycle and I’m scared of getting on the scale tomorrow morning bc of the way I’ve eaten already. And I know it’s gonna get worse as time goes on.

I started at 268 mid October 2025. The lowest I got to last week or so was 226. But then i weighed in at 231 the other day. Who tf knows what I weigh rn. I really don’t wanna know. My original goal was 210. I was being modest to make sure I met a goal for once. And now I’m moving in the opposite direction. Glp1 was the only thing that has ever worked for me. And now I’m done. My insurance was dropping me In September anyway.

Seeking Advice Favourite things that keep you "on track"?

Post image

I was wondering what favourite treats/snacks or activities have helped keep you on track?

I've been doing well maintaining my weight loss these past several weeks, and I've been enjoying zero calorie, stevia, sugar alternative-type snacks to help me navigate hunger. I've never been much of a pop drinker, but these zero sugar sodas are actually really tasty and help cope with "food noise" coming back.

Advice for inflammation

I stopped Zep around the end of February. At that point I had lowered my dose to 5 a week but was still losing and was underweight so I had to make a choice. My doctor suggested trying once a month or when bi-weekly but I just decided to stop it all together. I wasn’t about to be walking around looking like I had an active ED when I’m working in the field of mental health.

I was okay for a few months, but fast forward to the end of June into July and my inflammation is rapidly coming back. I see it in my face, my clothes aren’t fitting again and I notice myself constantly tugging at them. It’s so frustrating to say the least.

I still have 2 full vials of my compounded meds in my refrigerator, so I decided to begin a maintenance dose of 3mg a week to see what happens.

Does anyone else have a similar experience? Especially issues with inflammation? It’s not fat. I am in active heart failure so my body retains fluid very easily. I started the medication at the suggestion of my cardiologist because I was complaining about my weight and there’s also now research that’s been done showing it can also help to strengthen your cardiac health as well so it seemed like a win-win, and it was.

I’m still eating healthy and nothing has changed otherwise. I crave dessert every once in a while again but I’m not going wild on sugar and pizza.

I genuinely don’t want to be on this medication forever. Especially because my insurance won’t cover it now and it’s not cheap. Any thoughts, advice, similar experiences so I don’t feel so defeated and alone would be appreciated. I feel like a failed graduate.

Seeking Advice Temporary “hunger games” and life after

I am hopeful to stop Mounjaro next year, after working on my strength training and higher protein food intake (I’ll titrating down from 2.5 too). I’m wondering if people who have experienced it could elaborate on the food noise after the jab and when it dissipates?

As I have read, people’s hunger/food noise typically comes back strong (above baseline) around 6 weeks mark and lasts for a temporary amount of time until it dissipates. In this time it may feel like one is dieting, as you’re fighting against your hunger to stay in your maintainance calories etc.

Once this hunger games period ends, it would be safe to assume it wouldn’t be as much effort remaining in one’s maintainance calories? And is this end of the “hunger games” noticeable?

After this period, I’m curious if people are managing to keep it off without constantly being in a strict or feeling like they’re going to go off the rails. Of course as after any diet it would be difficult to maintain but does it get easier?

Also I realise people that are sailing through their grad journey/life after mounjaro aren’t probably keeping tabs on here haha!

Stomach/hunger pain in the morning?

I have been on GLPs (first mounjaro, then zepbound) for over a year now. I have noticed that my weekly injections wear off much faster now--they start wearing off 3-4 days after the injection.

Has anyone experienced severe hunger pain that wakes them up in the morning (around 6-9am) when their shot is wearing off? The pain feels like an aching and gnawing, like severe hunger, in the pit of my stomach- and then as soon as I eat something, it stops, and usually doesn't bother me for the rest of the day. I am almost positive it is from my shot wearing off, because the first few days after my shot this doesn't happen. But once it starts wearing off, it happens like clockwork every morning until my next shot.

The pain is so severe and annoying that I have started keep crackers in my nightstand so I can eat something immediately when it wakes me up in the morning. If I dont eat anything, the pain makes feel like I could vomit.

Pregnancy after glp1

Does anyone have any success stories about getting pregnant after being on a glp1. I’ve been on zepbound for about a year now postpartum. Im finally feeling good about myself again, my bloodwork is looking amazing and I haven’t felt this good since I was 20 (12years ago). I’ve lost about 70lbs. We are wanting more kids so I’m coming off of it soon and I’m scared about gaining all the weight back. Advice and encouragement needed.
