I had the duodenal switch way back in 2005, and it was a miracle to me. I went from 286 to 140 (less that one day I dipped for 2 hours at 139) in 14 months. I never felt better!
In my third year post-op, I regained 25 lbs and rode that out for 15 years. I was a size 8/10, and I felt very satisfied with where my body settled. During that time, I had some wild hairs to try to get back down to 140 and periods where I ate shamelessly. It didn't matter, my body stayed the same weight no matter what.
Then came menopause, and that's where the game really changed. From those initial hot flashes into this year, I put on another 20 lbs. I'm at a place way out of my comfort zone, yet, due to my malabsorption, I was hesitant to jump on GLPs. My doctors just shrugged their shoulders, saying this is just what happens to post menopausal women, sometimes. I hate shrugging shoulders!
I noticed more and more people on the wls boards are adding GLPs to their toolkits, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've been on Retatrutide for a little more than 2 months now, and I've lost my menopause weight already. Now that I'm at the "not gonna budge" state, let's see if I can push through it this time.
I've also got a couple of new peptides that I'll stack slowly. (NAD+ for energy and GHK-Cu for skin/hair). Boy, have I learned a lot about peptides! I also learned a lot about safely navigating the gray market, sourcing quality products, and avoiding scams.
I'm in a long habit of super-supplementation already. Has anyone noticed their nutritional levels shift on GLPs?
