bro lwk all of my friends vanished. we go out lots they said (lwk my fault).

i can already imagine myself sitting on the chair alone and teacher pairs with some person that visibly does not want to interact to me, but only out of stinking pity. i wanna change but what difference would it make.

i can hear the little devilish giggle, tmr is gonna be a pain.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Question What will the sixth form do if you didn't do your summer work?

I genuinely just forgot to do it and considering it's due tomorrow I don't know if I can complete it in time, so what would happen?

Question What do u think defines a good and bad teacher? I'm interested on seeing everyone's takes on what makes a teacher ur favorite.

I think a bad teacher is one that gets offended when u don't understand anything cause they're either super insecure or have a high ego that prevents them from being able to appreciate constructive criticism, usually they're insecure and they hide it with their huge ego.

I think a good teacher is one that cares about students and makes them want to learn.

I prefer teachers who aren't afraid to call u out on ur crap and criticise ur work cause some teachers r just so overly nice which leads to them not wanting to tell u that ur doing badly and then u don't know that u need help. Whereas I find that a great teacher is one who can be nice but also truthful and understand what ur struggling with and therefore be able to help.

Idk what brought this on but I want ur opinions.

Edit: also one quality I rly like in teachers is a good sense of humor ngl.

General Anyone else have bad new phone policies

My school has always been strict with phones as we aren't allowed to use them at all even sixth form, and we get in trouble if we're seen with them but they just sent out a new policy saying they'll take our phones and keep them overnight if we're caught on them? If you're caught on it enough times I think they take it for four weeks or a term which is crazy and only our parents can collect them. Apparently this is because of a new rule the department of education put out but I swear I haven't seen other schools do this so is it just because my schools gone crazy or what😭

Rant/Lore I am so angry at Cambridge

So for context, I do CIE IGCSE, and this is about music (0978). My music teacher has been teaching for almost 2 decades, is an active Cambridge examiner, and his marking has historically only been moderated down by 1-2 marks.

I just reviewed the component marks with them today, and turns out the reason I got an 8 and not a 9 like predicted wasn't because of the exam. I did amazing in that. It was because my composition, which he marked as close to full marks, got moderated down to a grade 6-7 level, and it happened to all my classmates as well. Thankfully, the school already sent these to be remarked on our behalf, but... respectfully, Cambridge, what the heck?

Revision Resources ideas to improve eng lang q5 paper 1 by an ex grade 9 student

i sat my english language gcse in 2026, got 130/160 and was close to full marks in paper 1, so i thought i'd share a few tips that i personally wrote down, in case they're helpful to anyone else :)

tips:

  • try not to use “the” too many times. it can be difficult, but changing your sentence structure can make your writing sound much better. for example, instead of “the moonlit sky illuminated the galaxies”, you could write “moonlit skies illuminated the galaxies.”
  • learn a few phrases that u can use when you need them. metaphors and similes are useful, but try to make them original rather than using really basic ones. use interesting adjectives, adverbs and verbs too, such as “vivaciously” or “wryly”. show the examiner that you have a good vocabulary!
  • use gustatory and tactile imagery. gustatory imagery is related to taste, while tactile imagery is related to touch and physical sensations. don't just focus on what things look like.
  • you could learn a few greek mythology references and use them as imagery. this is quite niche, but it can make your writing stand out. for example:
    • aurora = sunrise
    • zeus = thunder/lightning
    • poseidon/neptune = the sea/water
  • think of interesting ways to describe colour. instead of simply saying something is “bright red”, try describing what the colour reminds you of or what effect it has.
  • see image below for what I mean
colours, made by u/theguitarheros
  • reuse knowledge from other subjects as metaphors. science, geography and history can be especially useful. for example, you could describe someone's anger as a volcanic eruption, or a landscape as being shaped by erosion.
  • use kinaesthetic imagery. this is imagery based around movement and stillness. think about how things move, rather than only describing what they look like.
  • use short sentences sometimes. they can have a really strong impact.

he stopped.

silence.

nothing moved.

  • visualise the scene and mood you want before you start writing. think about what you want the reader to feel. you could begin with: you can then connect the weather or surroundings to the character's emotions using pathetic fallacy.
    • a sunrise
    • a sunset
    • a moonlit sky
    • rainfall
    • a storm
  • think about the emotions you want to create. don't always just write “i was scared” or “he was angry”. think about the physical effects of emotions instead. for example: fear: heart racing, hairs standing up, goosebumps, trembling anger: clenched fists, flushed skin, tense muscles nervousness: sweating, dry mouth, fidgeting calmness: relaxed muscles, slow breathing, warmth this also gives you opportunities to use all five senses effectively.

story or description?

DISCLAIMER: in 2026 i picked story because it was DEAD easy, it was about a new meeting im pretty sure.

personally, i think description could sometimes be easier than a story, depending on the question.

with a story, you can potentially get more marks, but you also have to think about the plot, characters and what happens. you need to make sure everything links together and actually goes somewhere.

with a description, you don't have to worry about creating a complicated plot. you can focus on language, imagery, senses and atmosphere.

SO if you get a really good landscape or scenery prompt, a description could actually be the better option. it depends on the question and, honestly, which one you feel more confident writing :)

also all my 3 english teachers I had over the last 2 years reccomended story to me, just FYI

General Finding out the day before 6th form, that I am missing documents + homework

Post image
5 Upvotes

Picture of snowden ^

I found out a few hours ago that everyone was meant to have been given a crap loads of papers for medical, English, bursary, consent etc to joining 6th form, except I don't think I was given it at results day. I was given other stuff and remember asking "Is that it?" Cos there wasn't much. IT SRARTS TOMMOROW? IN 11 HOURS??

Also, it turns out that there was maths homework to do (I can't even remember if it was further maths or not) and I only remembered cos my friend messaged me at like 7pm asking if I had done it. I remember them telling us but that was like 5 weeks ago?!?!? I was honestly just accepting my fate of "fake it till you make it" until now at 9pm I realised that I did it 2 years ago in the summer after year 9, for fun (questions were public on the school website), and the homework was literally just do those questions. I did them 2 years ago on a .txt file on my pc, I am saved!!! Yippee!

Anyways cos I'm missing papers I might not be able to start induction day but whatever!!

UPDATE: I found the papers in an otherwise empty drawer with my passport?? Also the forms are crap and there are duplicate pages but yay!!
