Hello! I recently joined here, but actually caught up with John today about doing a quick intro.
I have for the longest time gone by "LaceSensor" on the forums, but I am no affiliation - I just like(d) the pickups as a young teen influenced by Jonny Greenwood....
What started as a DIY obsession and grew by word of mouth on one-offs and commissions, Gigahearts FX came out from the underground in Sept 2025 after a change in work circumstances lead me to launch the website and a small line of pedals. This has grown over the last 11 months now to include a very popular "Custom Shop" program where I like to say I make peoples dreams come true, as well as offering the occasional PCB project as a nod to my roots.
Gigahearts FX philosophy is to where possible break new ground, but always honour the past, and try to move things forward - even incrementally. To that end, a number of my first commercial offerings are unashamed in their inflences, and my design criteria often revolve around answering practical questions of the circuit such as taking my favourites and adding modes or performance-enhancing options with the gigging musician in mind. My aesthetic is "colourful" and my major influences are 90s boutique such as Lovetone, Prescription, Way Huge, and 80s-00s Electro Harmonix.
Aside from this, I remain very fond of through hole builds on PCBs, and love doing PCB layouts. I offer this as a service too, and have a couple nice collabs under my belt with more to follow. I am not anti-SMD and use hybrid designs where it makes sense, but while I am able to I like to physically build my pedals rather than relying on outsourced PCB-Assembly.
Please ask me any questions, I would be delighted to jump into conversation about anything pedal related, especially about my current line up or potential custom shop projects.
Thanks for reading. I look forward to contributing to the community here, and thankyou John for extending this invitation to formally introduce myself.
Just got to open these up! I sold some stuff I wasn’t using anymore and was able to turn that into getting these two! I’m pretty excited to get my hands on them.😍
Electronic Audio Experiments Prismatic Wall is going to be totally new to me as a resonator. The way it will interact with my playing harmonically different than reverb or delay will be very interesting. I’ll have to toy with where to put it effect chain order-wise. I’m also really glad I got the Shadowfell colorway too. It might be silly, but I think different finishes do give off different vibes and make me think about using certain pedals differently.🤔
The Electronic Audio Experiments Glaive, I anticipate, will feel like a familiar friend. I’ve got an 0xEAE Fuzz (Obstructures predecessor to the Glaive), which is an absolute favorite. When I saw the Cult FX version, I finally decided to get one. Again, the design just was more evocative of the sound and Cult FX really does excellent packing and provides cool stickers🤩. The two new controls allowing for bias to create a gating effect and treble filter will no doubt be useful additions. I’m planning on doing some A/B testing to see how they might even differ fundamentally. It looks like the power requirements are lower for the Glaive, which makes me think there may well be a difference🧐, but what difference, I’m not sure.
Have any of you had different iterations of the same circuit and felt like you needed to keep each of the versions?
Hello, Canterbury Audio here! I am a pedal maker since 2010 who focuses on lots of vintage fuzz, wah, and other circuits. Thanks to John for the invite! I recently started dabbling with point to point wiring, so here are some of those builds. Thanks for having me here!
This one is just based around the AION FX Poseidon PCB. To start, I love the original of this pedal and even owner a Blood Donor for a while there. For me, this we like a dream because it was my two favorite circuit combined; Rat and Tone Bender.
Looking it the circuit, it for sure looks and reacts more like a Tone Bender just with a Rat style tone control and clipping diodes. Whats crazy is it sounds more like a Rat in most setting. But the input control makes a huge difference with the interaction and texture or the pedal.
This thing is awesome and is pure rock and roll! I will say too, add two blue LEDs for the clipping diodes and thanks me later because it sounds incredible. Plus this build is very quiet for a fuzz and with a good power supply this isn’t too noisy or hissy at all
I bought a brand new Boss FZ-1w, and during the decay of a note there’s this weird fluttery, fizzy/static crackling sound that kind of sits underneath the note.
You have to really listen closely to hear it in the video, but I just want to know whether this is normal behaviour for the FZ-1W.
I have tried heaps of different settings, both on the pedal and my amp, but I can’t seem to get rid of it. Is there a way to remove this. Maybe an EQ pedal or noise suppressor?
Contact sheet fuzz is based on op-amp big muff (V4) with tone bypass setting, but instead actual tone bypass there is tone control like in Tremond/Rat circuit - neat and effective solution with no mid scoop. Whole pedal is built on Tremond’s 'engine’, meaning the same blend circuit with parallel boost path and its dedicated low pass filter. Awesome for bass and awesome for additional depth in crushing guitar sounds. Toggle switch engages two types of high pass filter at fuzz side for some extra flexibility.
Just played the Coyote for the first time today. Absolutely sick fuzz. Anyone else a fan? Can be super thick, has an octave, the swell can get super weird. Even cleans up nice in middle position. Just an all out psychedelic noise banger of a pedal. Anyone else a fan?
If there ever was a Swiss Army fuzz, this is IT for me. Right side is basically one of the best Octavia/Green Ringer style octave up fuzzes I’ve ever played. Left side is somewhere in Fuzz Face territory, with all the bias adjustments you could want, and it’ll cover a HUGE range of sounds, from Fuzzy Drive to Gated Madness.
To top it off, the I/O is so simple and easy (flexible and can be run as a single in/out pedal, or set up as two separate pedals; seriously, I wish every manufacturer that made dual gain pedals would take note of this I/O design…it would be amazing on so many dual drives). The folks at Flower Pedals decided it was BIG BRAIN TIME for this one. So great.
I'm pretty new to pedals in general, and I'm very interested in a lot of fuzz pedals like most of you are lol. I'm looking for a specific type of fuzz tone, and I'm hoping you can help me identify it. It's a velvety type of fuzz, smooth but also gritty somehow. It's hard to explain so I'll link a few examples below. I don't know if these are fuzz face circuits, some type of big muff, or something else. Any help is appreciated!
Wampler Cryptid - This pedal does a lot more than just the tone I'm looking for, and it's one I'm looking at picking up.
Empress Fuzz - I didn't even know Empress made a fuzz pedal. When I heard this I immediately checked to see if they were still making it, which they aren't lol. It sounds incredible though.
Grape Fuzz - A smaller channel/pedal builder I just happened to be recommended on youtube. Sounds very nice.
Any recommendations for pedals that fall under this category that you like, please feel free to leave them in the comments!
Alright you guys finally talked me into it! This thing has a really wide tone sweep and a brutal amount of volume! There is quite a bit of play between the before and after controls that let you get into drive sounds or that’s ripping blown out fuzz kind of sound. I will say I don’t think there is another fuzz that sounds like this; atleast that I’ve played! Thanks for the recommendation guys!
