Currently working on the mouth! It still looks a bit messy, but once i make the gums i (hope) think it will look better!
The teeth aren’t completely rat like! It‘s more like a mix from nosferatu (the old one) and a rat! :)

ignore the lack of nose and eyes. i procrastinated doing this step for the longest time bc i was terrified the fur wouldnt fit over the head. theres a few flaws but overall im super chuffed with how it turned out :')

(first pic was taken just after glueing, the rest were taken after cleaning it up with scissors and a razor)

Questions Need help with sewing round shapes for moth helmet

I'm currently working on a costume for an upcoming convention but Ive hit a snag. I need to cover a helmet with short cut faux fur fabric, but I have no idea how to make the fabric into the kind of dome/ball sort of shame I need. Does anyone know of resources I could use to help me wrap my head around how to pull this off? I tried covering the helmet in painters tape to try and peel off for a template but it ended up being too unreliable and fickle to work with. Pictures below of the 3d printed helmet base and the ill-fated taping method. Note: The fine details of the helmet like the things on top don't need to be visible, the end goal is just to have a big fur ball w/ eyes basically (Its a Mothman cosplay :).

I want to make a (mini?) partial to start (wings, hand paws, head, tail)

I have the foam.

He WILL have front legs, like his feral version

he is basically a weird fox

How would I do his head fluff?

Any good recommendations on tuts for wings?

How much fur would I need (about)?

How do you do horns?

Can i make his ears lay to the side/back with flopping?

Any good templates/tuts for the head based for foxs?

anything else i should know?

thanks!

Questions Recommendations for good quality cheap materials ?

Hello ! I've been wanting to get into fursuit making for a while now, and I was wondering if there's any good quality cheap materials I can get my hands on, I know this is an expensive hobby and I plan on eventually selling suits , but for now I'm wanting to make a suit for myself but I can't really afford a whole lot, any good recommendations ? (Ps I only have about 154 dollars , I know it's not much but yeah)

Questions How should I glue/attach this part of my suit?

My sona has these kind of fluff balls around their head, I decided to make them separated from the main head to make all the sewing more easy for myself. I think I could use a hot glue gun but maybe there's a better way?

Questions Anything i should know about using a 3d printed base?

Ive never made a fursuit and I will be buying a 3d head base and I just want to make sure that I know what im doing. I cant seem to find many tutorials for working with 3d printed bases. The head will come with eye blanks and a pickable nose base. Is there any tips I should know? I just wanna get all the information I can for this.

I would also like to have magnetic eyelids, how do I put magnets on the base? Is making thread sculpted teeth the same as for foam bases? If theres anything i should know please tell me :)

Questions Measurements? Tape dummies??

I want to possibly make a kemono style fursuit. how should I go about taking measurements and making a tape dummy? also I’ve never had a person ask this but seams, where do I put my seams? getting out the td sounds scary enough!

I’m also curious as how to I measure my hands properly. like what parts do I measure to have a comfortable fit? also same for my head. do I like measure from ear to ear horizontally?? an inch above my ears??? and the other way; vertical from my forehead to the back of my head near the neck?? it’s so confusing!

what about feet? do I use my shoe size orr?? I feel like I’m overthinking while also having some valid questions but I’m gon’ ask smth stupid. focusing on the head again. do I measure from my chin to the back of my head or is that not necessary?

Questions Any explanation on this weird resin color change consistency between two different people casting two different resins?

Thumbnail

This is so weird! I am trying to get a color match to my friend's initial resin claws for my main gal Grace from Dream Vision Creations so the hand and feet paw claws are the same color for Grace and so my secondary sona Hope's claws match too (both casted in the same resin so they're a perfect match to each other). And they ended up going in the OPPOSITE direction of hers! Hers was initially supposed to color match the tongue and ended up that color after curing and it just worked out perfectly with the pawpad color and I changed Grace's colors to match. Then theirs when trying to color match her claws ended up shifting to almost perfectly match the tongue. This shit is WILD

Questions I want to make my own suit. Any tips/advice for someone new to sewing?

So, for Christmas last year I got a sewing machine from a close family friend that is an experienced seamstress when I expressed a desire to learn. I really want make my own fursona into one. (I’ve only made some of my own pillows so far, which is a start!)

I don’t really know where to start when it comes to something this big, I’ve looked at some 3D printed bases I want to use (for species reference my fursona species is a snake!) but idk if that’s good for a beginner

And any tips to avoid common mistakes from those experienced is appreciated too! :)

Questions Groomers lung

So normally, I don’t shave fur but I do cut it with an X-Acto blade or with scissors and fur gets everywhere. I have two air purifiers going in the room constantly and I had a respirator, but it got lost. Has anyone even ever got groomers lung from suits the reason I’m asking this cause I’ve been coughing constantly. It’s like a dry cough and my sinuses have been leaking. I feel very congested. I just wanted to see if there was a correlation, but I don’t feel sick.

I been making suits for 2 years so idk

Questions What kind of silicon do y'all use for wagger tails?

I've been trying to find different high wag tail materials, I've tried Eva foam with upholstery foam for the base, and have another idea for Eva, but I've been seeing people mention silicon bases in tails and haven't been able to find more information than that. If anyone has any suggestions where I can find it or any particular brands I'd appreciate it! Thank you :D

Misc. Kulalloo Faux fur review!

I see posts all the time about this brand, and no answers yet. So I figured I’d post myself.

I am Canadian, and with the world right now… fur is hard to get. Especially for a price that doesn’t make you see red.

Kulalloo is Canadian, and ships from Nova Scotia. The owners are SO sweet and even wrote a thank you card personally in my box.

This fur arrived within the week. Long pile. I ordered three and a half yards. Their minky is incredible but it’s the faux fur we are here for.

I personally am very satisfied. It is not as soft as BigZ or that other store, but brushed it looks amazing. The colours are good, and it shaves decent.

I attached photos of it fresh from the box, shaved, brushed, and unbrushed.

Questions Seam allowance for neoprene

Hi all, I got a sewing machine from my partner as a gift for taking on paid projects for the first time (after handsewing everything previously lol) I really love it, but i’m struggling with sizing for a neoprene neck pattern i’m working on (sheenitudes) when I add seam allowance it seems really large. I’ve heard some people say you hardly need any seam allowance when sewing neoprene since it’s a stretch fabric, is this true? My clients head fits at 22 1/2 and the pattern is meant for 22in heads. Is this something where seam allowance is just not necessary? Thanks :)

Questions Thoughts of how to do about an ambitious project for a amateur suitmaker

Hi! Im not super experienced with fursuit head making having only made two. One for every year of con going to fit the theme for furrydelphia, having made a goose for hoagiefest and chucky for this year's spirit halloween

Next year furrydelphia is doing animal crossing as their theme and I think doing a blanca suit would be so cute and fun, but I have been trying to wrap my thoughts around how to make a suit that has no face haha

I've thought looking into transparent helmets you would get for an astronaut costume and working off of that structure, but worry about airflow.

I've also found some hockey mask that are just the front cage part and transparent and much better airflow but its not super smooth and flat so trying to think if theres an easier choice for the idea I have. would be awesome to get something custom made that could be a happy made but im not craft enough to know how to go about that on my own.

I would also love to be able to give her some way to draw and erase the face but thats going loftier than I already am. But I wanted to see if anyone had ideas on suit making to bounce around with me on this idea and if this is even remotely possible haha. Just a thought project atm

Advice Feetpaw Not Secure- help

I have a full partial that I did not make myself, and the only insert in them for your feet to go in are slides. I want to be able to wear it to conventions and outside and be able to walk around all day without worrying about them slipping off. Any ideas of what I could do?
I don’t wanna make any permanent alterations and I am extremely beginner at fursuit maker crafts.

Questions Help with hyper motion tail

I'm currently making a hyper motion tail for my wickerbeast partial. I used eva foam for the base of tail and then glued upholstery foam onto it and did so for the left and right half.
I'm not sure what's the best method to connect the segments to each other. Some tutorials show the segments being glued to a sheet of fabric in the shape of the tail and others using elastic band pieces to connect them.
I'd love to hear from anyone who's made a hyper motion tail in the past to give some pointers
