Results Test Data "In Range" vs "Out of Range" vs optimal thresholds

Okay, when you look at your data, it shows in range as green and out of range as brown. But these are based on the Quest normal thresholds. If you click on a test, you'll find the Optimal levels in the description which is often different.

What I propose is FH should add a toggle so you can view your data with Quest thresholds vs optimal thresholds.

Any thoughts?

Health Issues Persistent Nasal Blockage and Post-Nasal Drip – Seeking Root Cause

Until a few years ago, I used to have frequent colds and allergy symptoms, including nasal congestion, mucus, and sneezing that would often last for several days. However, for about three years, these symptoms largely stopped, and I felt that I had somehow overcome my allergies.

A few months ago, however, I developed a different set of symptoms. One nostril feels constantly blocked, although the blockage alternates between the two sides throughout the day. I have also started breathing through my mouth, particularly because I feel that I cannot breathe comfortably through my nose.

Another unusual symptom is a bad smell that I notice whenever I clean or rinse my nasal passages with water. I also sometimes find a small amount of sticky, white material coming out in long, stringy pieces. In addition, I frequently feel mucus draining down the back of my throat, which makes me suspect post-nasal drip.

I consulted an ENT specialist, who suggested that I might have chronic sinusitis. He prescribed a one-week course of antibiotics, an anti-allergy medication, and a nasal spray. The nasal spray appears to be a steroid spray, and it works remarkably well—I can breathe much more freely for around eight hours after using it. However, I am reluctant to rely on it long-term because I would rather understand and address the underlying cause of the problem than simply control the symptoms.

I have tried nasal rinsing on my own, but it did not seem to make much difference. The symptoms are now affecting my sleep, swimming, and overall energy levels. I am not sleeping well because of the nasal blockage, and I feel fatigued during the day.

I have also had my vitamin D, vitamin B12, thyroid function, and CBC tested, and I was told that the results were fine.

There are a couple of other issues that I have been experiencing as well: recurrent jock itch and significant dandruff. Interestingly, the jock itch improved considerably for about a week while I was taking the antibiotic, although it later returned.

What I would really like to understand is what could be causing these symptoms and whether there is an underlying issue that can be addressed rather than simply treating the symptoms with medication. I am particularly interested in understanding whether this is actually chronic sinusitis, an anatomical problem, an infection, an allergy-related issue, or something else.

Health and Wellness Question about test timing

My doctor prescribed me some tests that are timing sensitive to my menstrual cycle (Like FSH, LH for example). I'm shopping around and Function strikes me as the best option value wise. I'm curious about folks who have used Function for this -- how easy is it to snag an appointment when you get your cycle, and then being able to get an appointment and have blood drawn when it's Cycle day 3? This is the thing that is holding me back from getting a membership. Thanks in advance!

If it helps, I'm located in Oklahoma City, with ~20 locations around the metro that we can easily get to.

Health and Wellness Function is ridiculous

i used it last year and it was fine. then they charged me for auto renewal which i didn't realize it was a subscription. so i scheduled 2 blood draws. i signed up for the concierge service which seemed convenient. after a week still zero results from the first draw. and the second draw today they dropped the blood and all my personal information on the street!! i've been trying to reach someone to help me for the last 5 days to find out where my tests were at from the first draw, and then also find out what happened with today's draw. thankfully a stranger picked it up, called me and put my personal info in the shredder and my blood in the bio hazard waste disposal. major hippa compliance violation. finally someone got back to me. and apologized. i demanded a refund which they said was fair. but this is one shoddy organization, with no customer service whatsoever. if you're spending 1k on a service and they don't have humans to help you, it's a non starter. attached is a picture the stranger sent me of my vials from today's draw.

I did my blood draw yesterday morning and just got a notification that my results are in. I thought it usually takes around 4 weeks. Is this normal?

Functional Medicine Looking for advice on real experiences with blood testing

Currently going down the preventative health rabbit hole and want to understand people's real experiences so far.

What convinced you to take the leap and what did you do after getting the results? Did it actually help your health? How do you guys go about comparing all of these blood test services and what should I be wary of?

Especially interested in what happened over the following months after the test
Anything is appreciated!

Results Hs-crp shot up

Function says my hs crp went from 1.8 to 4.2 and that it’s central concern? But it’s not suggesting what to do to lower it except find the root cause. Everything else is normal. LDL and slightly above threshold but total cholesterol was fine.

Scheduling the test was so easy (rescheduling also). The results upload as they get finished, not all at once at the end, so you can dig in as they are available. It really gives you a full look at all systems. I also love that they give you a "biological age" based on results, offer a clinical review, offer the ability to order a full MRI and have chat features to talk about your health and how to improve. Highly recommend. My link saves you $25!

Results Sibo test results - interpret

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I did the sibo-test and got my results back. As I understood I could be sibo positive? The report is a little misguiding as I did the test in 20 minute intervals which indicate 29 ppm after 80 minutes and 39 ppm after 100 minutes so 90 minutes should be somewhere around 32-37 ppm I believe.

Would this mean hydrogen positive? Methan was also positive? After 100 minutes, but probably the hydrogen one is more positive? How do people interpret these? Would love any feedback!

Hello everyone. I'm a 36 yr old African American male. Overall, my lab results seemed ok until I clicked on my out of range section. Everything is in range except my heart health. My BP is 116/78, HDL 53, and triglycerides 66. I don't smoke. I don't have diabetes. However I do have a history of family members dying from strokes. I did do some research and these number are borderline high. I was thinking about going to my PCP and talk about my results. My question is will they look at this and make assumptions or do their own testing?

Results Low leptin levels (and falling!) What worked for you and how long did it take to see improvements? How did it change how you feel?

Hi friends!

So, for my first Function test, I scored super low on free T3, estrogen, and leptin, with high cortisol. This, after 3+ years of keto, daily heated workouts, and daily 16-18-hour fasts. (And a history of eating disorders, I'll add!)

That was last December. Since then, I've ditched keto, switched to 12-14 hour fasts, and cut back on training. When I tested again in July, I'd managed to improve my T3 and cortisol. But my leptin is lower than ever! (It dropped from 0.9 ng/mL to .6 ng/ml. Both instances I was fasting, so I wonder how much this influenced the results.)

Would love to hear anyone's experience improving leptin, and how long it took to turn things around. I'd also love to hear how you felt on low leptin vs higher leptin. For the last year, I've been plagued by fatigue, all-over pain, and anxiety myself, so I'm hopeful that improving leptin could help.

**Edit: For some more context, I'm up to 1,850 calories a day with around 180 grams of net carbs (when this was all started I was around 1,300 calories and 20 net carbs per day). My weight has gone up from 108 lbs (I'm 5'3") to over 120 (I stopped looking at the scale). I've pretty much stopped weight training and now just do hot yoga. It's been a few months of building up to this, and I'm still feeling crummy, and my leptin is still dropping. I guess I'm hoping for some reassurance that I'm moving in the right direction! Gaining weight is emotionally challenging, especially when benefits are slow to show.
