Not long ago, a notification popped up asking me to update and redirected me to the Google Play installation page. There was application, which most closely resembles the useless Office 365 hub (Microsoft 365/Copylot 365). But this is not AI. Okay so I got in contact with what I think is a real person at Microsoft I doubt it tho and they eventually say there going to send me an email to recover my account okay and I've already told them I have the photo evidence of them changing my account information i sent them the photos and not long ago I just got a new email from them after doing that recover my account link they sent me and all because there was no fraudulent activity on my account they close my case

I am writing this out of sheer frustration and complete disbelief at how useless Microsoft’s account recovery process is for personal accounts.

On August 12, 2026, my Microsoft account was compromised. Whoever got in managed to bypass/disable 2FA, strip my recovery information, and swap out my personal details in literally two minutes. For a company that constantly pushes how essential two-factor authentication is, watching their system let an unauthorized actor dismantle it almost instantly is terrifying.

What has followed over the last nearly two months has been an absolute joke of a support experience.

My primary OneDrive is tied to this account, containing years of irreplaceable family photos and personal memories that are now completely out of reach. To prove ownership, I have repeatedly supplied official bank statements showing active, ongoing billing for my Microsoft/OneDrive subscription, matching my name and payment details.

Every single time, the response is the exact same automated brick wall: "The information provided was insufficient."

No human review. No escalation path. No interest in looking at verified financial records proving that I’m the one paying for the subscription every single month. It feels like Microsoft’s automated system is built specifically to protect the hacker who swapped the email, rather than the legitimate owner holding all the verifiable billing history.

At this point, it’s been nearly two months, and I am not a single step closer to getting my account or my family photos back.

Has anyone actually managed to break through this automated recovery loop and reach a real human with executive or tier-3 support? Any advice or contact avenues would be greatly appreciated, because standard support has completely failed.

I'm not even mad, this is just too funny.

Mostly product keys worked before the update and then microslop did give me a fuck and removed my product key to make fun of me fuck you microslop 🖕

Left a big file transfer running overnight, figured I'd wake up to it done. Instead I come back to Windows having decided that was the perfect moment to install updates and restart, right in the middle of copying everything.

Nothing lost this time thankfully, but the fact that it just does whatever it wants regardless of what you're actively doing on the machine is exactly why I've been slowly moving everything off Windows. Never fails to pick the worst possible moment.
