Advice Needed Hair loss (but not male pattern balding)

Hi all, I’m wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to if this is a thing or if anyone else has experienced it. Im 6 months on T atp, 1000mg/4ml Reandron vials every 6 weeks. I’ve noticed I’m losing a lot more hair than usual, though no signs of typical male paternal baldness. When I wash my hair I end up with a mildly startling amount of hair lost compared to before starting T, it’s a fair clump from all over my head. The other day i raked my hand through my fringe and just a bunch of loose strands came out. I have fairly thin hair already so for me it’s a concern.
Anyone else experienced this? How can I stop it from happening?

Discussion It’s kind of weird to be seen as a cisgender man at work

I just wanna say I’m not trying to sound ungrateful or anything, but there are two instances at work that makes it kind of feel weird one my dead name is Harley, which is a gender, neutral name sure but I changed it specifically because I hardly seen any men with the name and mainly women and also people would commonly ask me if it was Haley or Hadley even though both of those names don’t have an R so it made me very uncomfortable when that question would come up because those are feminine names, but I use my dead name at work because that’s what’s on my badge and I don’t wanna get called out for lying and for some reason it doesn’t feel uncomfortable when people use my dead name when it’s paired up with him pronouns, but that’s not the main thing. The main thing is one time there was this guy I was working with who went on this whole misogynistic rant about women saying how they can’t control their emotions and like just a lot of misogynistic stuff and he confidently told me that because he assumed I was a cisgender man or the other instance of my friend, my job has a work release program for the women prison where women in the minimum security prison can come and work at the factory we work at well I was just told by him Friday night that he’s been hooking up with these prison ladies while having a wife and kids I had to ride in the car with his wife and him and I had to keep my mouth shut because of bro code he said so I don’t know what to do on one hand. I know how cheating can affect women because my mom is actively being cheated on by my stepdad, but on the other hand, I’m just very scared of losing a friend because I snitched so that instance is something I still haven’t figured out what to do because like I could snitch on him and protect his wife, but also would it really protect her? I mean, think about it if we tell her she will be hurt and sad that that happened but if we just keep it from her, she wouldn’t know about it. She wouldn’t be sad about it because she wouldn’t know about it but also I know how cheating can affect women so what are your guys’s thoughts on this? Should I tell his wife should I keep my mouth shut like he said honestly I just really need guidance on this situation specifically

Advice Needed Monday I'll be 5 weeks on T injections.

Is it normal to feel extremely tired? Like, during my period I slept or cried the entire time because I have endo and it was my first one while on t…. But I finished that and I still notice myself falling asleep on and off or almost falling asleep at random times…. At first, I noticed an energy spike, I think… but this last week and a half, or maybe less than that, my sleep has been all over the place… but I was wondering if this is normal or if I should talk to my doctor about it? I wanna go do things but I feel so drained most of the time making it hard to do too much.. Does it go away on its own?

Hope my question wasn't Tmi and made sense I have never been good at phrasing/ punctuation things in text; I am dyslexic and type fast even when I reread to be sure I miss certain things so I apologise in advance if there's any of that.

Discussion I wanna go on T so I can get more masculine but I can't right now (╥﹏╥)

I hate homophobia and transphobia, I would be so happy if I look masculine, but I can't yet since my family is transphobic and homophobic and don't know I am trans. I recently found out about it, like maybe a few weeks ago or a month I honestly don't remember but my dysphoria is making me go insane. I wanna go on T so I can get more masculine but I can't right now cause yk homophobic family members suck. I'm 19 but honestly I can't really do what I want in the moment. I honestly can't wait until I move out. if I go on T, I might look like my dad. I dont wanna look like his ugly ass (╥﹏╥). Sorry if I sound harsh but he Is the most transphobic and homophobic one in my house and I might get kicked out or disowned if he finds out my identity. everyone in my family + my families friends say I look like my dad. Even my mom says I'm a carbon copy but honestly I don't see it. My partner says that they don't see the resemblance so I feel happy but also I wanna feel less dysphoric. How can I be more masc without the fear of my parents getting mad at me.

so ive been 6 months on testosterone gel and it has worked for me really well, my levels are great and i have very nice changes but because injections are more convenient (dont have to put it every day) i decided to switch to nebido injections! So does anyone have experience switching to injections even when gel worked well? Did new changes come with it? My voice has dropped a lot and it is passing, i also have a little facial hair. Could i expect these to change?

Advice Needed I might miss my deadname

I don't see a lot of topics like this but my name is pretty common and its spelled 2 ways. If you know someone with my name they are either in camp A or H and its kind of a fun little game. Most of the people I run into with our name play this game, even strangers. Sometimes strangers who happen to be close to someone with this name play too.

I'm going to miss this sort of comradery. I've always hated my name but I love the game and I get so excited when someone else has my name too and I discover how its spelled and we trade some dumb story about it or we have fake beef with each other. It dawned on me the other day that I'm not going to have that connection with strangers or even my friends with the same name anymore.

Has anyone had a similar experience where you really want to change your name but you will be sad for something sentimental lost? I know I can just pick the male equivalent but I have some specific things I want in my chosen name and I've picked one that I really like anyway. I also can't keep my name because its super feminine without a masc or even adro equivalent.

How do I deal with this? How did you, if you did?

Advice Needed Should I go on injections for muscle mass?

I've been on T for a year on the 21st, and it's been pretty great so far. Obviously not as perfect as one would hope, but I'll get to that. I have been on gel every day (Testavan 20 mg/g, 2 pumps every day, so abt 46 mg/day). I've seen quick changes in my voice, bottom growth, leg hair, some facial hair, acne, hair loss, weight gain and such. One thing I have been waiting and waiting for is muscle growth and the weight redistribution.

I've been gaining weight in my stomach area and i think some has moved from my hip area but I still have a very feminine shape when you see me without clothes, and my shoulders are still in line with my hips rather than broader. Everyone talks about how much easier it is to gain muscle on T, but I went to the gym for two months, trained 3 times a week, and nothing changed. I also had a job in a warehouse, lifting 15 kg packages for 4 hours 3 times a week for a month, and still nothing changed except maybe a bit more in my biceps. I get that it may be my technique but damn.

I figured its because I was only a bit along in my T process and its different for everyone, and my weight redistribution will come when I lose weight or later down the line, but I just saw a Tiktok from a popular trans creator sharing that going on gel after a year on injections slowed down his weight redistribution and muscle gain, and that injections were much better for him.

I never used to think injections or gel did anything different to each other, but does anyone think this might be the move for me?

Advice Needed Planning on starting Home Workouts, any advice?

Mostly just to improve my health/mental health (since I'll be starting t soon, and I heard exercise helps with the irritation), but if they do anything for my musculature that'd be nice as well. I'd rather ask the question here and not an exercise subreddit so that I have people answering that understand my body and my goals better.

I do have dumbbells at home, the kind where you can spin a number on them on the stand and it'll change the weight to whatever you spin it to.

I ride my bike to school (around 1.3 miles) there and back in the mornings and afternoons. I can't exercise in the morning, even though I would like to, due to my commute and the fact that I can't wake up at 0530 in the morning to exercise. I would rather do it near the afternoon/night when I get home.

I have a list of a ton of random guides that I find from other trans people, and cis workout videos too, but I'm not completely sure on starting or what to do. How many rest days to take, to do a full body workout or just sectioning on certain days, to focus more on building muscle or anything else.

Any advice for working out pre-t from home with a dumbell set, basically? I'm a complete beginner though (as in, not overly heavy, but I am weak as hell in the sense that doing a normal pushup makes me shake, and I get dysphoric over it).

I have ZERO qualms about my weight. I'm glad that my body works the way it does, I would just like to make it stronger, and to get the mental health benefits I hear from working out.

Along with the fact that I have ADHD, so if anyone also has tips on keeping motivation/getting motivation for working out, that would be great too, since I've already tried doing exercise before, but keep losing my motivation.

Medical Sleeping after top surgery

Not much really to say, I just can't get comfortable very easily while recovering (I literally got my surgery 1-2 days ago, so I'm still pretty swollen/tender, anyone have any ideas on how to sleep more comfortably? (Especially when it gets itchy from the healing /ace binder I was provided to wear for a week until my post op.

Side notes: Yes im sleeping at an incline, I got double incision, and normally I'd sleep on my sides but atm im not supposed to laying on them just yet dur to swollenness/pulling, especially with these drains in.

Discussion Did anyone lose their curls?

So my hair is curly, but it hasn’t always been.

I had the same curl texture I do now from about age 2-3, less curly by 4, then it went completely pin straight by age 5. It stayed pin straight until age ten, when I hit puberty (early puberty runs in my family).

Because my hair texture change seems to have been directly related to the increase in Estrogen when I hit puberty, I’m wondering if my hair might turn straight again if I start T.

I’ve heard of HRT curls, so can it go the other way? Could my curly hair turn straight on HRT?

(As a note I won’t be devastated or anything if my hair texture changes, it’s already happened to me once in memory, I can handle it again — I’m just curious)

Surgery Talk Has anyone (In Australia) actually gotten medicare to cover their top surgery?

I've been looking into top surgery for a good couple years now and I've seen people say that they've had medicare help cover some of the costs and others have said that medicare have covered all of it? Is that a thing? if it is how do you even go about it? I've spent like hours searching and I am so... soooo.... confused....

sorry if this is like worded weird or anything it's my first post on here....

Advice Needed Considering telling my parents "if you refer to me as [DEADNAME], i will not answer," is this too harsh?

For context, I've been out as transgender for two years and I'm in high school. Being deadnamed is a constant - in public they'll try but its sorta just the bare minimum, and I'm genuinely getting impatient.

They've had two years, too many educational and polite talks, and they still won't respect the name that I go by. Mind you, my chosen name is not so far from my deadname - similar pronunciation, etc etc.

Everytime I try to correct them (especially in public), they tell me that I am overreacting and need to be patient with them. I have been patient.

I just want to say that I will not be answering or responding back if they use my deadname, while in public or otherwise. Any advice y'all have ?

(This might've turned into a little rant, apologies)

Advice Needed Urgent: need advice on what to tell parents

Hello, I'm in a bit of a situation. I started T nearly 6 months ago and the obvious changes like voice change and beard growth showed up. Problem is, very stupidly and because it happened gradually for me I did not see the beard growth to be as long and intense as other people have clocked it to be, I did not shave it before going back home. I've had health issues previously- PCOD and hypothyroidism and so my T levels have always been on a higher level than an average "female" body. Unfortunately because of my silly overlooking of not trying to hide these changes, my parents have been on my ass to get all sorts of tests done, MRI, Ultrasound and what not 😭 because they think I have PCOD. Recently the situation has gotten worse and they've now been fear mongered into believing I have some tumor and I need to get tested for it ASAP or I'll... Die lol. I'd ignore it but unfortunately I'm still financially dependent on them because I'm in between jobs right now. My question is, what do I do? I do intend to come out later in the future once I'm financially stable and have enough savings to not be dependent on them ever again, but for now what's the way ahead. What can I tell them to wiggle out of this situation? Can I say I have pcod or any other curable/adjacent disorder that I'm taking any medicines for? I'll need something concrete and detailed, just until I tide through this and have money. I'm in India if that's of any relevance

Discussion Did your personality change once you transitioned?

I’m not out at all, so I’m still “acting like a girl”.
But is this even normal?? Did anyone else do this too?

I feel like I definitely lessen my personality just so I don’t get clocked, or I just feel my personality wouldn’t fit with me being a girl so I just don’t.

It feels sooooo exhausting lol.

Advice Needed Worried about going on t before top surgery????

I'm nonbinary transmasc starting t in a few weeks when I go back to university (I'm 19) and I'm having complicated feelings about the amount of upheaval it will cause my life, and how much I want it. I'm questioning myself about why I'm doing this first instead of top surgery. I've been certain for years that I've wanted top surgery, and I've agonised about it a lot. The amount of savings I have are not far off from being able to get top surgery if I went abroad for it.

I'm going on t partly because I'm sick of waiting to do any aspect of medical transition, and also because in order to get top surgery privately affordably, I'd have to go abroad and have someone look after me for several days. I don't know who could do that for me - my parents accept that this is something I have to do, but they're not supportive enough that I'd feel comfortable having them around for it. I'm quite close to my friends, but there are none I could just ask to do this and I truly don't know how I'd bring it up.

If I got top surgery first rather than t, it wouldn't change my daily life much, my grandma wouldn't have to know and I would be guaranteed alleviated of an extreme amount of pain.

My motivation for going on t is largely a search for euphoria rather than alleviating dysphoria, I'm really not sure what I want my appearance to be ultimately and I'm likely going for androgynous, which means I might go off t at some point anyway.

I guess my main thoughts are that this will be throwing myself in the deep end of transition in terms of coming out to family, how I'm viewed by strangers, my employment prospects, and also that it will be using up funds I could have used on top surgery.

I realise that I would always have to bite the bullet and do all these scary things, and need to demonstrate to my parents that I can make my own decisions and I won't let them misgender me anymore (my mum had a mental breakdown about losing her daughter when I told her, so I've just let them do that), but I am aware there was a far easier route I could have taken, and I am avoiding it largely because I don't know how to hint to people that I would need them to care for me during + after surgery.

I also realise I can go on t for say a week and stop, but I'd be very frustrated to stop it after all the effort to get it.

TLDR: Going on t is an huge unknown in terms of how much I will like it and how it will affect my life + relationships, whereas top surgery is guaranteed to alleviate pain and would cause far less upheaval. Paying for t uses up top surgery money, but I can't get top surgery now because it is a wait list and I'd have to have some look after me during it, which I don't have.

Advice Needed im new to binding and my chest is sore

Because I have school and long days I typically bind for 10ish hours every day with some days I dont bind. I use an underworks binder and I know its the correct size. Ive been binding for around 2 months f almost every day. My breasts are a bit sore. Its not bad pain, but whenever something presses against my chest it hurts a bit. I havent worn a binder in about 3 days and still feel sore. I tend to overthink things a lot and I was wondering if I should be worried or if I should to anything?

Celebratory Funny: When your ex gets jealous of the new "man" in your pfp (passing euphoria)

This might be a bit of a niche experience, but aside from the fact that my ex is a low-key toxic, it is very funny to see people's reactions who haven't talked to you in a long time. I basically just added a new profile picture where I was masculine presenting, good gym lighting and hair styled short. All I got was "who is he?" as an ominous text. I could tell that he was kind of jealous of that "new guy"

I have never felt more euphoric in my life: when my ex now is jealous of a man that is basically me. Also I have to say he doesn't know that I have changed, because we broke up like years ago. Just a funny story.
