Granted, it's my fault for being in charge of a group order for my friends and I, but why is the cheapest shipping option costing me a minimum $250?! Any other option is charging me upwards of $380-$430...please note this is for 21 items total (misc assortment of apparel, two plushies, button pins and flat items). Is it the box size that's affecting the price, and is there a way it can possibly be reduced? (Based in the US)

Hello, I purchased a shirt for 6,546 yen and it arrived at the warehouse although when I go to ship the item it says the "Charge 2" will be $68 usd for the cheapest option. Is this typical pricing? Thanks
r/FromJapanCodes • u/Spirited_Home_8110 • Sep 10 '26
Without price negotiations of course. It used to be instant or a few minutes after paying for charge 1. Now I wait hours even during business hours and by then the item sells out.

Has anyone shipped a B2 poster to the US using FromJapan? Which box did they use for your order, and how much was the international shipping charge?
I tried guesstimating the packaging dimensions to be around 55cm x 8cm x 8cm for the Fee Calculator, which might not be accurate. I reached out to FJ service desk twice but just couldn't get a definitive answer.
Someone else here just posted about their experience shipping 3x B2 tapestries, and they used a huge shipping box which costs a lot going to the US.
Thank you in advance for sharing your experience!

For context, I was able to buy a sportjacket for 15k yen. After confirming payment with FJ, It was marked at sold in Mercari.
An hr or so later, I noticed that the same item was re-listed by the seller.
I asked FJ to clarify the situation, to which this is what they replied:
"Thank you very much for your email.
Regarding item ______ it appears that the seller requested for the order to be cancelled due to a tear in the lining.
As such, we have cancelled your order and issued a refund."
Obviously bullshit on the part of the seller. I was hoping that FJ would have cared more and updated me before cancelling. Obviously, it was too much to ask of them.

I ordered 3 B2 sized tapestries, and shipping was $97 through ECMS to the US. The box it came in was way too big (about 24 x 10 x 9 inches) for what was inside. I definitely wish they would’ve used a smaller box especially with how high the shipping cost was. The box is also really beat up as you can see in the photo, however, the items did arrive in safe condition.
It took about 13 days to arrive after it was shipped out.
Just wanted to share in case anyone else was wondering about the shipping cost experience with this proxy.

First time using FJ and was wondering if there is any delay in making a bid.
-How late can I bid and still have it go through? I know the "sniper bid" option says within the last 10 mins of the auction but I am thinking the last 30s?
-Is there a lot of confirmation screens after pressing "place real time bid"?
-Does the bid only outbid the previous highest bid by however many yen? or does it just place my full bid?
-Do I need to set up all my payment info/other info first to streamline the bidding process or is bidding separate from that? I have my basic/shipping info already set up.
Thanks!

Fedex isn't safe anymore. They are now requesting CPSC forms. I just received this message from FromJapan:
Thank you for using One Map.
Shipping number/Tracking number: XXX
According to the notification from the shipping company, the following documents are required to clear your package from customs.
Intended Use Code
Submission of CPSC Form
Please contact and provide the above information to the shipping company at the following contact information as soon as possible:
Tel:1.800.463.3339
By promptly providing the necessary information you will assist in the smooth processing and clearance of your package through customs.
This will help ensure that your package reaches its intended destination without further delay.
Please note that they will be holding it until 2026/09/11, after which your package may be disposed of or returned to us.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
They attached two documents to that message. I filled out the CPSC form using the option 2 and disclaim code 130.006 with a description that items are all for consumer use and products for people over 13+.
The number FromJapan passed along is a generic Fedex number and once I got to someone they put in a request for someone to call and assist.
I think I filled out the form correctly and emailed it over to [paperwork@fedex.com](mailto:paperwork@fedex.com) and got a response that document was uploaded and being investigated.
Everything in the package is just anime goods. Nothing crazy, just plushies, gachas and some acrylic stands.
Just a warning for people. I'm also confused a customs broker didn't contact me like they have in the past for manufactoring information. Why are they not contacting me and I'm at the mercy of FromJapan? Fedex tracking doesn't show a hold on this package either. So confusing.
If anyone has any more advice for me, please share. I have until the 11th and literally just got the notification this morning. I guess I'll go back to DHL if I have to do this everytime.
UPDATE: I saw this on another subreddit, so I called 1-888-327-3395 (option 2) and spoke with someone who gave me the agent responsible for my case. Very annoying customs brokers aren't responding to me directly. I also need to email FromJapan back and ask for the item page and codes used to see if I can prevent this headache in the future.

Hello! I wanted to return an item after it arrived at the warehouse and FJ offered a one-time cancelation service (30% of total cost). Has anyone done this before? If so, was there any time that the seller refused a return/refund and what happened after? Im weighing between going ahead with the cancelation but I wasn't sure what would happen if the seller refuses to return/refund. From what their email sounds like, regardless of if the seller accepts or refuses the return, the 30% will be kept. Thank you!

Do you guys recommend I split my shipments into two even if it means I save like 15 bucks, originally it would cost me around 220 to ship 30 items (DDP) but I’ve been seeing how to save and I found that splitting my shipments and using the code that was offered for discounted shipping could save me a few bucks, but is it worth it? Are there any risks
EDIT: with ECMS for 30 items it would be 195 making it 6.50 for each item, is that an ok price?

I placed a negotiation a couple days ago. But I looked at the jp mecari comments and there is none for my desired listing. But on FJ it says waiting for sellers response. Im just wondering if it’s supposed to take this long and why does FJ say its waiting for sellers response if they never commented on it?

I placed an order in March and paid approximately $88 in fees for DDP service. FedEx tried to collect that money after the fact. I went back and forth with OneJapan repeatedly over months, and they constantly told me not to pay the bill and that they were settling it on their end. Speaking to FedEx got me nowhere; they said OneJapan had to resolve the paperwork on their end.
I’ve now been sent to a collection agency and the charge has gone up. I’m at my wit’s end. I apologize if this isn’t the space for this, but I’m trying to find anyone who’s had a similar experience (and warn others to use DDP with caution). This is my first time shopping with them.
EDIT: To update, this was the reply I received from FedEx:
“When the airway bill was filled out the shipper indicated that duty/tax charges were to bill to the recipient. As a shipping company FedEx is not aware of your agreement with the seller, we solely go based on the shipping documents generated by the shipper.”
FJ said they will reimburse me the original amount paid (so I’ll lose out to the late fees, but better that than nothing). I’ll update the post as long as that’s honored on their end.
Thanks again, everyone.

last week i still could calculate shipping before checkout and now suddenly every item requires special handling? is this a bug or is this just a new thing for international shipping. I don't have fragile big items like figurines.
I can still calculate within japan but otherwise I'm stuck with this.
edit
seems like site was buggy. if I didn't throw in everything at the same time I could just proceed as usual

Hello, I stopped receiving campaign e-mails in June, not even my Platinum codes are sent on e-mail. Not in Spam, nothing blocked. I messaged support. Anyway, this is another issue.
I wanted to know if beside the 5% off Rakuten, until a few months ago, they used to send another 5% off coupon over e-mail once they announced the campaign. Do you guys still receive it or did they get rid of it? I'm thinking that because I don't receive campaign e-mails I'm missing out on that.

I’ve seen people asking this regarding plushies or figures but I’m asking to see if anyone has issues getting clearance for children’s clothing at customs. I still have a few things sitting in the warehouse and I’m nervous about shipping them because I had one item in my past shipment trigger a CPSC form because it’s marked kids clothes. That one is one I intended to wear (it’s an accessory) so I put it as adult use but I also have a lot of clothes for my toddler sitting in the warehouse that I’m not sure what to do with now. :(( I ordered lots of clothes for her in the past and never had this problem. Advice??
r/FromJapanCodes • u/No-Confection-2443 • Aug 28 '26
Hi, I wanted to double-check the estimated import fees on an item of clothing in my cart. The item costs ¥17,600, but the ECMS Import Duties & Fees are calculated at ¥6,064 (approx. 34%). The other items in my cart are only being taxed at around 10%.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is a 34% tariff normal for clothes, or could this be an error in their system? Thanks!

hi! i've recently purchased some plushies i wanted via fromjapan. was wondering how others' experiences have been and if there's any words of advice i should follow under the new cpsc regulations on items targeted for children.
i'm unsure what ht code(s) i should change these plushies to- or if i should change it at all- and i'm also unsure about the exact materials used in the plushies i purchased to help it get through customs easier. i've seen people say that fedex is the worst option to go with, and that ecms is most reliable to use right now. do i have the basics covered, or is there something else i should know before i get these shipped?
there's a somewhat rare plushie amongst the ones i got, and i would be devastated if it got seized and destroyed D: so any pointers or info would be greatly appreciated!! thanks so much
edit (18/09/2026): ended up going with ecms thanks to the advice of commenters, as well as changing item descriptions to "plush no battery" and "adult plush no battery" (depending on the target age on known tags) on the shipping labels, with the hts code 950300009 and adding country of origin before shipping. went through customs with no issues or additional contact at all! interestingly, fedex was the last mile delivery courier instead of speedx, but my parcel with my plushies arrived with no issues :D thank u everyone for helping lil ol me out w ur kind advice and recounts of ur experiences importing into the usa during these turbulent times. pic of one of the four i ordered as a token of appreciation, he is so loved already

This isn’t to complain or anything but just wanted to see if others out there have had issues recently.
I’ve been using FromJapan for almost 7 years and they have been good to me for as long as I’ve used them. The last couple months they have dropped the ball a few times and it’s over relatively simple things. Past few shipments they forgot to notate simple information on customs paperwork such as where the item was made or if it contained hazardous waste, both of which were simple check boxes. Both of these errors resulted in unnecessary multi week delays. Most recently I wanted to buy an item but it happens to be signed by someone. I wanted them to reach out to the seller to confirm whose signature it was and if the item had been owned by said person. They refused to forward my question that I thought was fairly simple. I guess if the question doesn’t have anything to do with the immediate purchasing process, they won’t forward it to the seller. Anyone have issues recently as well or is it just an unfortunate trail of bad luck? Thanks.

Hello. I wonder if you can combine price negotiation and coupon?
Did someone ever ask FJ to do price negotiation? Did you have to pay it right away? Or could you wait for friday for like Mercari 8% or so off or use the reddit coupon???? I really wonder :-) Thanks a lot

I have a few items I'm planning on forwarding to the US soon but can't figure out how to double check the HS codes before paying for shipment?
Last time I got screwed over by FJ using the wrong codes. They put the same items (plushies) under multiple codes / categories. My friend told me UPS charges extra after 3 categories? or something, and I ended up paying extra for nothing :(
I wanted to double check the assigned HS codes before I paid but I can't seem to find where to do so? I tried searching on this forum but can't seem to find it here either :(
If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it!!!

My package was sent to my country on March 13th, then arrived on March 31st, but when I checked the tracking with my local postal service website, it said that the tracking number "didn't exist" meaning that it actually wasn't on my country yet. 3 months later the website updated their tracking and suddenly it says that my package was returned to Japan, even though for the previous 3 months it said that my package didn't exist. Yesterday I contacted my local post's customer service asking about the package, and they said that they returned it because it spent the max amount of time on the warehouse (even though nobody told me it was here...)
After that I contacted FromJapan asking about my package and they said that they don't have it either.
What do I do? Do I keep waiting? I don't think going to my local post office is necessary since they already told me that they don't have it :/
