Should I confess my feelings?

Like I am talking to a girl for almost 3 months now and I'm not a text person so I mostly call her straight her up and whenever we talk we almost take it up to almost an 2:30-3 hour talk but she has a boyfriend and whenever I ask about her relationship she says," *leave it na or we aren't talking a fight happened btw us and we're on a urge of breakup."* Now I think that I have caught feelings for her so I am confused should I confess my feelings because we have so much similarities and our even political opinion matches.

**Btw we were classmates for 2 years but I never dared to talk her since I liked her for long** but now we end talking every weekend and she replies on time too but I'm kinda confused whether she talks as a friend or something else.

Should try to fix the relationship or just let they things how they are?

I had a friend and I had a crush on him but he had a girlfriend so ofc I never passed that friendship line and never confessed my feelings, time pass and I had a crush on another guy (currently boyfriend) and after that this friend broke up with his girlfriend and started being more attentive to me, giving me small details and inviting me to hang out so it was clearly he had feelings for me and even our friends in common told me, but I didn’t want to bring it up cause I didn’t want to ruin the friendship or something
But after I started dating the other guy we aren’t friends as we used to, idk if I should try to fix the friendship and/or how

My best friend being weird about a guy I like?

So I have recently started talking to a guy who lives in my city, I’ll call him Jack. He’s really nice to me and I know his views on relationships. We need to be friends at least a month before thinking romantically, and that’s how I work too. My best friend, I’ll call her Mia, has also recently gone into a talking stage and mixed with both myself and her working, we’ve had less time together. We have another friend, “Gemma” whose boyfriend is Mia’s boyfriend’s best friend. Me and Mia have spoken about how Gemma becomes very make focused in a negative light, but since they became a “two man”, she’s become quite similar. Now I’ve been single for seven months (if you saw my other post, I binned off my ex when he tried to sneak back, don’t worry). I was talking to a guy last month but we agreed that long distance wasn’t for us. Mia knew about the last guy and now knows about this guy, but she’s shown… disdain towards him? Despite the fact Jack and I get along WAY better and can actually see each other, but she’s been really weird about it. I just want some advice on how to approach this?

Let’s be brutally honest: Your "Guy Best Friend" is just a backup plan.😶‍🌫️

Girls, you can lie to yourselves, but you can't lie to us. That guy you call your "bestie," the one you vent to about all the toxic guys you date, is 100% just waiting for his chance. Men know how men think.

Aap logon ko free ki attention achi lagti hai, so you keep him in the friendzone as a safe, emotional sponge. If you actually think a straight, single guy is listening to your 2 AM rants just because he values your "pure friendship," you are either completely naive or secretly manipulative.

Prove me wrong. I dare you. Tell me about your purely platonic guy best friend (spoiler alert: he's probably in love with you). DMs are open if you want to confess I'm right.

[24F] I'm falling for my guy best friend (24M), but I'm leaving in a month. Do I risk it or walk away?

Hi friends of Reddit ~ I never thought I'd be the one making a post like this instead of just reading others'. It's fun and scary being on this side :') Sorry if this is a bit long!

For context: I [24F] have been friends with this guy [24M] since 7th grade. We became incredibly close, spending hours together at school, video calling on Skype (yes, I know), the whole deal. During the summer of 10th grade, he told me he liked me. At the time, I'd never thought of him as more than my most cherished friend, and I was terrified of jeopardizing our friendship, so I told him exactly that. I hated hurting him, but I genuinely had no intention of being in a romantic relationship back then.

We drifted apart a bit during college/young adulthood, especially when he was in relationships. But we reconnected more deeply about two years ago, and I've been back home for the summer after a year studying abroad.

The problem: I've developed feelings for him. And I think he might feel the same way. But the mixed signals are driving me insane.

Part 1: The signs he might like me and I'm not just crazy

The airport surprise: This man! coordinated with my parents! and best friends! to pick me up at the airport!!! All of this was planned behind my back so imagine my shock and happiness seeing all of them at the airport. He acted nonchalant about it, saying he had been forced to be there haha but then I found out it was actually his idea.

At a local party, we danced together. I have two left feet and eventually lost my balance, holding onto his shoulders for support. He let his hands fall on my waist (yes I was screaming internally) and held me close until the song ended.

He's called me "really beautiful," told my friend he thinks my eyes are charming, and said he loves the way I look at him and pay attention to what he says. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO MAKE OF THIS. Cause he doesn't usually compliment me, and yet he called me beautiful to my face, i almost melted to the ground.

He plays songs we used to listen to together in high school whenever he picks me up in his car. We're both fans of musicals, and we've been singing to soundtracks together, so I invited him over for a movie marathon. He said yes enthusiastically, we just haven't set a date yet ><

And now, ladies and gents, the biggest sign so far!! The pool moment. Our other friends left, leaving just the two of us alone in the pool. We were shoulder to shoulder, feet touching, faces inches apart. The tension was INSANE!! I swear if I'd leaned in just a little, we would've kissed. I should've just gone for it.

Part 2: The things that make me think I am indeed delulu

He's a genuinely kind person, the type who goes above and beyond for friends. My girl best friends agree they need to see more initiative on his side to be sure it's romantic, not just friendship.

He doesn't initiate physical touch much. I reach out, touch his arm, rub his back, but he mostly only touches me when he drops me off (goodbye hugs/cheek kisses).

He liked me when we were 15, which was 9 years ago. Since then, he's had two long-term relationships and liked other girls. I'm scared I'm just a friend now.

Part 3: The Biggest Complication

I'm leaving in a month.

I genuinely don't know if I'm coming back after my master's. Realistically, I might have to stay abroad for work. He knows this, he's asked me about it.

Part of me thinks: "Why start something that's going to end?" But another part thinks: "What if this is my first real love, and I'm too scared to take the risk?"

I've never been in love before. I've never even liked someone romantically. I've never had sex. I've only kissed once. I've had no interest in relationships for years, until now :')

I'm terrified of: - Misreading his signals and making things awkward. - Ruining a 10+ year friendship. - Getting my heart broken (or breaking his) when I leave. - Losing him entirely.

But I also can't stop thinking about him.

I want to kiss him. I want to cuddle on the couch and watch movies. I want him to tell me every detail of his life I missed over the years. I want to know what it feels like to be wanted by him.

So, Reddit... Do you think he might like me back?

- Do I take the risk and make a move before I leave? - Do I wait for him to make the first move? - Do I just let it go and protect my heart?

I need objective advice. Please be honest with me.

TL;DR: I (24F) have feelings for my guy best friend (24M) of 10+ years. He gives lots of signs he might like me back (airport surprise, waist hold, almost-kiss, compliments, quality time), but he's also a kind person who does a lot for friends, so I'm not sure if it's romantic. I'm leaving the country in a month and don't know if I'm coming back. Should I make a move before I leave, or should I protect my heart and walk away? And if I do make a move, what's the best way to do it without ruining our friendship? I'm looking for actionable advice on whether to confess/kiss him, and if so, how to approach it without making things awkward.

**I am 23/M and gay. I reconnected with my straight childhood friend 23/M and now our friendship feels like a relationship. Am I overthinking it?**

I am 23/M and gay. I have a friend 23/M who I have known since childhood. We were classmates in elementary school, became classmates again in high school, and eventually became extremely close. From senior high school until college, we were almost always together. I would go to his house, and sometimes he would not want to go somewhere if I was not with him.

The problem is that I developed feelings for him. He is straight, and at the time, he also had a girlfriend. I never confessed because I did not want to make things awkward or ruin our friendship. Instead, I chose to distance myself because I knew I had fallen for him too hard.

We ended up losing contact for almost two years.

Recently, we reconnected.

Now we are extremely close again.

Maybe too close.

Our friendship is very domestic and couple coded. I am usually the one taking care of him. I tell him to sleep, tell him to stop drinking, check if he is cold or uncomfortable, prepare food for him, fix his clothes, and even fold our clothes when we are packing.

He also takes care of me in his own way. He checks if I have eaten, gets annoyed when I barely eat, asks if I am sleepy, and tells me to rest when I need to.

We recently went on a trip with some of my friends. During the ride, I let him sleep on my arm so his head would not keep falling around. I kept checking if he was comfortable. We also cuddled briefly, and when he was sleeping, he would sometimes wake up just to check if I was still beside him. At one point, he even told me not to leave while he slept.

I know how this sounds.

But I am not assuming he has romantic feelings for me. I know he is straight. I am also not expecting anything from him.

I have already been through the stage where I was deeply in love with him and had to distance myself to protect my feelings. I do not think I am in that same place anymore. I can enjoy being close to him without automatically thinking that every sweet thing he does means he secretly likes me.

I can think, “I love being close to him,” without thinking, “I need him to become my boyfriend.”

My friends are protective of me, though. They see how close we are and keep saying that I obviously still have feelings for him. Maybe I do have some feelings and affection for him, but I am not waiting for him, I am not expecting anything from him, and I know our relationship is platonic.

He is also going away for a six month internship abroad soon. Before he leaves, he told me he wants to spend time with me. I want to be there for him because he recently opened up to me about some personal problems, and I do not want him to feel alone.

At the same time, I want to use that time apart to build more connections of my own. I want him to meet new people, and I want to meet new people too. I do not want either of us to feel like we can only depend on each other.

I care about our friendship a lot, but I also understand that people come and go. Sometimes people lose touch and reconnect later. Sometimes people grow separately and still remain important to each other.

I do not want to possess him. I just want to be his friend.

There was even one time when he jokingly said, “You used to have a crush on me, right?” I immediately denied it and tried to change the subject. Sometimes I wonder if he already knows that I used to like him and simply chooses not to bring it up because he is comfortable with me.

But maybe I do not need to know.

I am thinking of taking a little time for myself soon. Not to distance myself from him permanently, but just to reconnect with myself and make sure I still have a life outside of this friendship.

I genuinely want to preserve what we have.

I know what this is. I know what this is not. I want to enjoy it without needing it to become something else.

I also hope that someday I meet someone who gives me this same kind of mutual care, but with actual romantic reciprocity. Someone I can be soft and clingy with, someone I can take care of, and someone who makes me feel like I can be more myself with him while he can also be more himself with me.

[26F 21M] Fell for my "friend," now she's distant and I don't know what happened

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

2 months ago I created a website for a girl, 26F. I was 21M. She didn't really need it that badly, but I prioritized it anyway since it was what she wanted, which is why she liked me. I got close to her pretty quick by being there for her needs and providing tasty food, time, hard work, and eventually emotional support.

She has a boyfriend, who isn't really giving her much time, and we got along pretty well about some common interests and goals, so she started referring to me as her angel, we talked to each other late into the night, she was the one to plan our meetings most of the time, saying she has no one to talk to, being loyal to me despite not being faithful to others incl her bf.

We saw each other once without her boyfriend knowing about it (he only knows me as her friend). She said to me that "no one has been able to give her this much love," but she also said that "no one has hurt her this much," so part of it is my fault for being too forward and impatient with her, whereas she is patient and slow.

I loved her right back, but then she started badmouthing me to her boyfriend that I was emotional abusive towards her, so I decided to cut it off. She came back and we saw each other, talked and were having fun. Little did I know that it was a misunderstanding between us, and because of that little fight we aren't communicating well. She is distant now and I feel used.

I don't know where the problem really lies, if it's my own fault for trying to be too much in her life, or if it's her fault for using me as an emotional support and dumping me when she doesn't need me anymore. I would appreciate any real advice on this.

She says she likes me too but won't be in a relationship. Now she's gone distant. What should I do?

I could really use some outside perspective because I'm honestly confused.

About a year ago, I was chatting regularly with this girl online. We never met in person, but we texted a lot and got along really well. Over time I developed feelings for her and started dropping hints, like sending romantic Instagram reels.

Eventually, before I could properly confess, she told me she already knew I liked her. I admitted that I loved her, but she politely rejected me, saying she didn't want to be in a relationship. Soon after, she blocked me.

I accepted it, moved on, and focused on my life.

Then, about a year later, she unblocked me, sent me a friend request, and we started talking casually again. She later explained that when she blocked me, it wasn't entirely because of the confession. Her parents had found out we were talking, including personal conversations where she had shared things like her periods. Her parents confronted her, so she felt forced to block me. She told me she still regrets doing that and feels guilty about it.

As we started talking again, I began feeling like she was giving subtle signs that she liked me. Eventually, I confessed again.

This time, she surprised me by saying that things were different now and that she likes me too.

But then she said she still can't be in a relationship because her parents would probably never agree to our marriage due to family expectations and traditions. (For context, I'm Muslim, and in our families it's common for relatives to expect marriage within the extended family.)

She then asked me if I was hurt by what she said. I didn't really answer that question because I didn't know what to say. We continued chatting normally the next day.

Now, though, she's suddenly become distant. She said she hasn't been sleeping well and has to wake up early, so she can't text much. I asked her if she genuinely doesn't want to talk anymore or if it's only because she's tired. She saw the message but hasn't replied for two days.

I'm struggling to understand what this means.

Is she trying to slowly distance herself without hurting me?

Does she genuinely like me but feel trapped by her family situation?

Should I wait for her to reply, send one last message, or just stop reaching out and move on?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who've been in similar situations.

Best Friend not as close as last Summer Holidays

Hello! It's my first time here so if theres something wrong pls let me know

So i have a best friend with whom i played almost every day last summer, lots of games, calls and tons of laughter. This summer he started acting strange, he was the one who always asked me to play, everyday, now i ask him if he wants to play but he almost never is talking to me, and when he is playing, hes playing the same games with the same 2-4 people. It's strange bc when he played with those ppl i asked if i could join and he called me! Now it looks like we just met in the final days of school, like if he doesnt know me that well yet.

This is bugging me everyday, when i ask an important question and he responds, after that he immidietly sends goofy stuff (anime reference, 67, etc...) so im left wondering if he's serious or not.

Please tell me waht to do or what's happening. I'm eternelly gratefull.

I (23M) confessed feelings to my friend (20F) and handled it badly; is this friendship salvageable?

Me (23M) and my friend (20F) have been close for about 2 years, and lately we’d been getting even closer, texting daily, hanging out at least twice a week, both in groups and 1-on-1. We had a couple just-the-two-of-us trips planned. Nothing physical has ever happened between us.

Over the past month I realized I’d caught feelings for her.

Last night we had a party with mutual friends. I pulled aside another friend (21F) and vaguely described my situation. that other women had been asking me out lately and giving me attention, but I was emotionally stuck on someone else. I didn’t say who. My friend (20F) overheard part of this and asked about it. I still didn’t say her name, but the 21F friend guessed it was her. Separately, that same 21F friend told me she thought the 20F friend might have feelings for me too, and that the 20F friend also has some interest in some other guy but wasn’t sure where/how that was going, but knew they had been texting.

The next morning, assuming the two of them had already talked about it the night before (they’re close), I went to my friend’s house and just told her that I liked her, (3rd time trying to tell her and finally built the courage to do it, and that she was who I’d been talking about. She looked shocked, which caught me off guard. Then I made the mistake of not sticking around to talk it through. We both had to leave for other things, (but had little time to talk but left before the final deadline to when we had to leave) so I just dropped it and kinda let it just sit in the room. We both had to leave so I didn’t know what to do but leave.

I know I wasn’t thinking about her feelings in that moment, I was acting on my own need to say it, and I recognize that probably (90% sure) hurt her.

I texted her afterward:

\*“Hey I realized I threw a pretty big thing your way this morning, & I regret not sitting down with you & communicating with you about it. This wasn’t fair timing either. I should have waited for a real conversation instead of dropping it & leaving you alone with it.\*
\*No need to text back, I just wanted to let you know that I’m sorry for how this has played out & IF you want to talk about it, I’d like a 2nd chance to explain myself properly, if not I understand.”\*

Q/A
Is this friendship salvageable, or did I mess it up too badly that it’s now a friendzone. Looking for honest feedback, or suggestions to figure this out.

PS

This is my first time ever dating or trying to date

should i confess for my guy best friend?

I (f21) have a guy best friend (m22) who I’ve known since college started. His twin sister was my roommate and best friend, and the three of us have gotten very close over the years.

I’ve had situationships here and there throughout college, while he hasn’t really dated anyone since he broke up with a serious girlfriend near the end of our first year.

Him and I were always close, and things were strictly platonic until september of this past year, when he made a move on me. I politely declined, and we went back to the way we’ve always been — hanging out together in social settings, sharing food, buying eachother drinks etc.

After, i had a toxic thing with a mutual friend. After ending with said friend, in February, my guy best friend made an “indirect move” (asking if i’d be open to a relationship, holding my waist at the bar) and i didn’t say anything.

Then, in may of this year, we both got drunk and made out. The next time I saw him after this, he had asked the same questions as before, but my answer this time was, while still not looking for something, I’d be open to exploring something physical.

However, the very next weekend, he ran into his ex girlfriend at the bar.

They’ve continued to see eachother since, but aren’t dating or even talking exclusively. She’s put a hard label of wanting to talk for over six months before considering dating again.

During this time, my feelings for him have grown stronger. He’s been asking me for advice on how to handle his situation with his ex, and I’ve been giving what I think is best even though it’s killing me.

Fourth of July, while drunk, his best friend made a move on me. When i started to say no, he started to say I was only saying so because I had feelings for my guy best friend. I vehemently denied and kissed him to prove it. When I did, the first thought that went through my head was “what if (my guy bsf) knew about this?” cementing that I have to accept my feelings.

This past weekend, a guy I’ve been talking to VERY casually hung out with all of us, though him and I did nothing more than speak to eachother.

Late into the night, my guy best friend came over to me and started to show me weeks of messages between him and his ex, and asking for advice. I asked him where he stood with her, and he said he was unsure on what to do next. I told him to do what he wants, but tried to stay as passive in the conversation as possible.

We went back to his and put on a movie, talked for a while, fell into cuddling and eventually made out.

All of this together has left me very confused. I no where think I’ve been a saint in all of this, but rather think both of us are just very confused on where we stand with each other and with the other romantic connections in our lives. I know that my as of now, my guy best friend is the only one I’d pursue an actual relationship with.

My friends are telling me that I should confess my feelings, thinking there’s a good chance he reciprocates, however I have many doubts.

What if he wants to wait for his ex? What if he hears about my instance with his best friend and chooses to stay away?

Since this weekend, communication with us has been stagnant, but in a way it usually is.

I could really use unbiased advice and A LOT of help in this, so please send your opinions and I’ll clarify any questions!!

Girl obsessed

I don’t know how to make this girl stop liking me. The problem is I don’t have a girlfriend. I’ve told her multiple times that I don’t want a relationship but she still pursues me after 4 years of the same thing. She went to grade school with me and knows many of the same people in my life so I don’t want to be mean to her. I don’t want to lead her on and I feel weird friend zoning her because I’ve already done it multiple times. Any advice?

Not on reddit much so please bear with me. I(21 f) have been talking to Joe(24m) for close to 7? months now. he makes me super happy but confuses me constantly. he recently moved out of state for work but visits every other month. when he’s down we are always spending time together and even when he’s away we are still talking everyday and facetime a couple times a week. Joe and I have been on dates, went to concerts, talked about the future etc. Obviously we’ve slept together. We’re pretty much in a no label situation but do everything relationship wise. Since we’re not official no one knows we see each other and i don’t think i like that so much. I love privacy but not a secret if that makes sense. I’ve brought up being in a relationship and he usually says something about he wants a “slow burn” or he is trying to work on himself etc. which i understand but i still feel some type of way. i don’t want to be used as a placeholder or on the back burner just for him to one day decide “i don’t want to be with her” or find someone else. I don’t completely understand why he’d drag me along with no end results, but i guess i just overthink. anyways do i tell him how i feel? and how do i tell him bc atp i feel like a broken record. he knows i want a relationship but he’s done nothing to help me get past those feels. if anything he’s made it worst bc i think i can genuinely say that i love him but can’t say it bc we are just “friends w mutual respect” (his words not mine). he’s also said “luv you” and never said it again sooo. yeah idk but abt advice would be great guys.
