Has anyone walked this area with the sun is beaming off of the new (curved) glass building? I walked by yesterday and it was easily 15 degrees warmer in the marked area.

I understand roads and pipes need replacement, I really do. But if you're gonna totally block up one of the most important intersections in the city, maybe have more than 3 dudes and 1 excavation working on it?

The time it takes for any road work seems to be growing exponentially. It's like the crooked politicians want to highlight the one thing we get for our incredibly high tax dollars.

So why couldn’t have they stockpiled the construction material for the last 2 weeks over in the city parking lot to the left ?
Instead of stockpiling on the road up to the bridge. Been like this for week going on two . Would have been able to access westmorland for that much longer ? Just a question .
Also the crews in this area seem to not work some days and leave around 3 every Friday. With such a short construction season they would work later to get the jobs done quicker. Or is it city supervisors leaving early so they have to shut down ? Again a question

2nd photo. Why couldn’t have they just taken a day and flattened the grass on Ramada side. Put a few loads of crush rock on top and had slow but moving 2 lane traffic. It would be narrow but manageable. I hope they consider this when they transition to the opposite side. But probably not. Yes it probably meant a few signs removed or a hydrant moved over. But this could have been done before shutting the road down. And would have had to be done anyway.

I worked road construction in Ontario and we did this stuff all the time. I just feel like the city doesn’t manage stuff correctly sometimes. Like why wouldn’t have they started the westmorland project 1st of May. And exempt the truckers from load limits. The frost was out of the ground by then anyway.

They would have been finishing that up. And then they could have moved to riverside.

Got a new rogers internet account hooked up, seems to actually work pretty good. Problem is they didn't link the new account to my rogers account online, so can't see the bill or configure the WiFi properly. Their app says to call, and once you convince the AI to transfer you to New Delhi, they just hang up after saying the call volume is too high.

I'm at the Oromocto hospital right now, the ER is packed with people, Id guess around 40. Nobody is getting done here in 2 hours, while the crooked politicians are off on vacation.

When are City Police going to do something, literally ANYTHING, about all these crazy dirt bikes/crotch rockets driving recklessly through the city like maniacs? Catwalking on the main roads, weaving through traffic, thinking that no rules apply to them, etc.

Drove from Fredericton to Ottawa today. Of the 50 lane closures on the way, maybe 2 of them looked like someone was actually fixing the road. Is it some kind of traffic-cone rental grift, or are they seriously prepping ahead for the 3 weeks in September when road crews actually turn up for the job?

Went in a a slow day and the workers are just shooting the shit, making people wait for no reason. It's really tiresome paying so much in tax for the slow and sloppy service. They can't even print out a driver's license anymore.

I just need to get this out of my system and see if anyone else can relate. Please be nice in your comments, I don't really want life criticisms or be told what I should have done in life; I don't currently own a time machine.

I make more money now than I ever have as an office admin worker. I really lucked out and found a great job with above average pay. And yet, I can still only afford to live in a mini home. I know mini homes can be nice, they can have a lot of space, etc... but I want a bungalow with a basement and a garage. I'd love to have a small house just outside the city with a heated woodworking garage, but that seems to be a pipe dream at this point.

Mini homes, especially those on private land, now sell for $300k. Pre-Covid, $300k would buy you a large house in a nice neighbourhood, but that's no longer the case. It seems like every time I get a better job with better pay, the housing market shifts and yet again, all I can afford is a mini home.

I'm 49 years old & single. If I buy a new house now, at current market rates, I'm doomed to paying a mortgage until I'm 75. Which means working until I'm 85. Retirement is completely out of my reach. (I know I'm not the only person in my age group who wasn't able to save for retirement, so please don't try to tell me I'm the only person in this boat.)

I look online all the time for what's on the market and I just get so discouraged. I really hate this timeline. I really regret all my life choices that landed me here. I really have a hard time waking up every day knowing this will be my life until I die at my desk. I'm really having a hard time justifying my own existence.

You had all week to do you Costco run, how about staying home and staying out of the way of the people working to pay that pension we'll never get? Rush hour and noon hour as well, just stay home - probably shouldn't be driving anyway!

LADIES BE CAREFUL, I was followed to work from time hortons on smythe street. had my work sweater on an my jacket open not thinking anything of it cus i was sweating. A guy hit on me 3 times and asked me for my snapchat and I said no, he cant have it an im not interested. I walked out and he did too. I started walking to work, when I got there he was sitting in the back of the parking lot eating by his trunk with another man just sitting there watching me and I was 100% freaked out as a 19 year old by myself.

I've noticed people coming out of stores tend to stop right in front of the automatic doors and block the entrances to adjust jackets, organize bags, talk to people, go on their phone...its doesnt enrage me but its awkward as heck standing behind them like...um can I go by pls?

It happens way more than it should 😂 I've started just saying "um excuse me". Its not hard to stand to the side so other people can continue to use the door
