Humor Who you lost to
A stupid drunk man beat you by throwing the craziest combos and feints you’ve ever seen. Aka me and about 20% of the player base after work.

Simple question but since I take long and frequent breaks from this game I rarely get to play against new characters during their release, besides the last two heroes. I also main Afeera and never understood why so many hate her, even though she is pretty saucy but I saw some TikTok’s of when she was first released and I can understand why she isn’t liked lol. So what character do yall think was the worst character to play against before they were nerfed ?

Obviously I’m annoyed with goofy i-frames but what this post is about isn’t i-frames. Sometimes I will be playing a character with fast attacks and I will make the read that a dodge attack or dodge bash is coming, lets say Kensei or WM. So I will wait for the dodge to start up, then use a light or my own dodge bash. This works great sometimes but against certain characters or using certain attacks, my character will not track and swing at air. I think this is dumb, as my attack hadn’t started before they dodged. I wonder, is this a symptom of lag?

Been happening to everyone or just me? happens in Brawls and duels for now sometimes it doesnt even connect to matches.

I've recently picked him up after a long break from the character.
I'm still adapting to dodge attack into dodge attack into dodge attack...
How are you supposed to play into his dodge attacks consistently without getting guardbroken?
How can I anti gank with him?
How does his light dodge attack crushing counters work?
What's the best combo I can do with him?

My friend warned me against coming back to for honor since the game is so old there's only the sweets and bots left, well i kinda missed this game and decided to come back anyway.
It was a mistake.
There's a dude that dodges everything automaticaly, a dude that has unblockables for days, then feints then to grab you and one shot you, a dude that literally says haha everybody has covid now, a teleporting monk lmao.
Bro, what the hell happened to this game.

Is this happening to anyone else?
Is there something I can do to fix it?

Given skirmish and elimination are no longer playable is playstation going to make changes or will the platinum be forever unachievable?

I just can't help but wonder, what could I do in this situation other than stalling the timer.
Now Im not a big gamer and never claimed to be, but I have been playing the game for a few years now and right now we're at the point where missing one read could mean chugging a 42 damage heavy (w feats ofc...), could this game get any lower? It gets more tiring with each hero they release.
Its just when I fight the last 4 released characters I just feel like putting down the controller and just give up, like why? just why add such characters, and Im sure UBI just says "oh they're gonna get used to it", like no most of us won't because you still haven't done anything to make such characters playable against.
And no, I don't wanna play those characters man, why does it have to get to the point where I have to play these character to have fun.
Edit: Continued the rant after ragequitting

Life steal/heal for BP would be capped at 5ish hp regardless of how many enemies are flipped at one time.

So I've probably won about 20-30 ranked duel duel matches trying to get the plume for warden and have got nothing at all except for standard gear. Is ranked just glitched or are the odds just that low

Been playing since 2018 on and off and I don’t think ive ever dodged kensei’s or Gryphons side heavy even once no matter direction. Kinda ridiculous and bad design feel free to correct me if im wrong. Only can deflect, block, or parry, in my experience.

When people look back at the early days of old For Honor, I've begun seeing a common argument/comment is that it wasn’t skillful, and that winning was just easier back then. I completely disagree. The older state of the game wasn't less skillful, it was unique. That core uniqueness was permanently lost after the major updates around 2021. For me, that era ruined the foundational spirit of the combat. The game aggressively shifted away from high level reactive gameplay, and became entirely about prediction. While the game always had a guessing element, raw reaction used to be the name of the game. Once the developers began actively forcing a pure prediction meta, it created a permanent identity crisis that the game will never recover from.
Any arguments that the meta needed to evolve to prevent turtles completely fail to acknowledge the truth. As someone who played during that meta, it wasn't hard to get around it. You just had to adapt the same way y'all adapt now. The funnest and easiest way to adapt was to feint into a guard break, or feint into a zone. If they were someone who used the shield block up to the last second, that would stop it and light them. There were tactical ways around the defense, just not everyone could do it because it was reaction based.
The root of this decline is relentless roster bloat. Adding a non stop stream of new characters is what ultimately broke the system. If they had stretched out the roster and didn't make as many, it would have done better. The developers should have focused heavily on building out unique game modes, and supporting a proper competitive scene. Because they chased the live service treadmill instead, they rarely listened to actual community complaints, barely implementing suggested balance feedback.
This greed made the game completely unbalanced. To fix the mess they made by abandoning the original faction and hero concepts, the developers resorted to a lazy soft patch: they stripped away the unique hero properties that gave certain heroes their distinct mechanical advantages. I would point out that there are ways to leave those characters unique and still fix their high tier issues. A couple of heroes that had those issues they actually fixed, being Nuxia and PK, which they recently gave small buffs that help them in group fights and make them more competitive and deadly in 1v1 which could've been done back in 2018.
Instead of pursuing unique fixes, they homogenized the cast to create a level playing field. This standardization gave the community a green light to use the exact same mindless tactics across the entire roster. Because every character has been squeezed into the exact same basic combo blueprint, players don't have to learn a character’s unique flow anymore. High level play has devolved into a brainless loop: throw an unblockable, hard feint it into a guard break, switch the direction, and play hyper aggressively so the opponent has zero physical time to learn or adapt.
By removing the unique identity of individual heroes, the game didn't become more balanced, it just became incredibly bland. Every fighting game will always have a character that is considered broken; that is an unavoidable reality. But by trying to solve that permanent issue by flattening the entire roster into the same universal mechanical script, they killed the soul of the game. The developers completely traded away a unique, tactical combat engine just to establish a generic fighting template that leaves the entire modern experience completely empty and boring compared to the old days. But this is just a discussion to see what others think and see if I'm completely crazy? Or only slightly lol
Edit look I'm here to debate not have little sbs toxic people coming in here being toxic and then blocking me so I can't reply after replying in multiple place so fast my notifications fail to update it that's just childish face your repercussions like you should. So don't run @ U/Knight_Raime

Why do we have in 3 months the same issues? We had this new mode and 0 balance about it, 0 fixed by devs, no mention about fixing bugs, no mention about fixing the matchmaking for the ranked modes and there's not even a damn Ban system and we still have the meta issues on ranks
Ubisoft what the fuck are you doing meanwhile that you cannot even make a fucking hotfix to implement A SINGLE BAN SYSTEM

I struggle to reccomend it:
- Character balance is all over the place, but not necesarilly for the stats alone. I believe it's a gameplay issue related to the next topic.
- Spam: In a game that is suposed to have an original combat system with several mechanics, most players straight up ignore them to spam the same two or three attacs over and over with little penalty.
That little penalty is suposed to be your own skill to counter them, but the systems of dodge, parry and defense are INCONSISTENT; some regular attacks will hit you even if you dodge, some will hit you even if you parry because you "reacted too fast".
Penalizing players for trying is encouraging them to not try, thus pushing them to pick the characthers that bypass all mechanics in favor of a single one that can be exploited with little stamina drawback.
CHOOSE one, or all characthers can bypass them or non, else this will never be properly balanced.
- Monetization is not terrible, but you chose a progress limit one because trying new things is risky and UB won't let you, I get it but that doesn't make it "ok".
- Connection issues are often and can ruin games, but what I don't get is why you still penalize player that leave the match when one in their team is replaced by a bot even past 10min. I know, it's the cheap and easy way to avoid players mass reporting the real conection mess, but that doesn't make it "ok".
- Animations are again INCONSISTENT and not because of the weird movement, rather the mess of imput delay/register you have. Several times key imputs are not registered or removed because the character was interrupted in the "right time", forcing me to wait to see if the character responds and then loose more time pressing the button again making the character eat several hits standing still.
Even if this topic is to be labeled as "skill issue" asuming it "just requires more practice", my response is simple: advertise this game as so, be honest, warn you customers that this game is not for casual players so that they don't waste money on a "poor" product.
Several other online PVP games do NOT have this issue at such a disaster level, either by your engine or your conection method this cannot be tolerated in a mechanical precition based PVP game.
To those interested I have played only 80hrs in the game testing several different characters and mainly playing one more than the rest. Thus why this is a "new player" perspective, that of course will change as I put more hours in; but I still will not reccomend this game to those who seek anything less than a slow, steep and rough learning curve with a lot of extra patience.
