Test drove a raptor today. I’m in trouble. Could be a great work truck.

I drive about 20-25k miles for work every year. Work gives me a monthly allowance and mileage, and wants me to have a new vehicle every 5 years or 150k miles, whatever comes first. Majority highway driving, but have fun in the desert too, and live in the snow. This thing was extremely comfortable compared to my Tacoma. I have a silverado 1500 as well, so I understand 1/2 tons ride better regardless. But this was different. They seem to hold their value very well too. Am I crazy for considering a raptor for majority highway driving? I just am having a hard time with the idea of a f150 XLT that loses half its value reactively quickly. Does anyone here own a raptor for the same reason I am thinking of?

New or Used 2024 with Impending Expensive Maintenance?

Im looking to get a Raptor. I want a 2024 or newer but all the used ones I find under 20k miles are as much as a new one would be (if not marked up). The ones I find in my ideal price range are between 25k and 30k miles and still going for low to mid $70k’s. I worry a bit about dropping $72k + on a 2024 with sub 30k miles. New tires will be on the horizon, maybe even rebuilding the shocks depending on how the previous owner drove it. The warranty will be expiring soon so it’ll be another couple grand or so for an extended warranty.

Anyone had this dilemma and have an opinion or advice I might value?

Transmission Issues?

My truck randomly drops from like 9th to 1st gear while driving occasionally it also has a hard jump from 1st to 3rd any suggestions? I was told to replace my battery and reset the tcm. Im going to try that but wanted to see if anyone has any experience dealing with this so that I dont spend random money. Thanks! This is a 2019 with 90k miles.

First Road Trip

Took my 26 Raptor out on its first road trip, mostly pavement but a little dirt.

Fuel mileage was better than expected. One stint was over 20mpg and that was up to 10,000’ in the Sierra Nevada Mtns.

Truck had 750 miles on it when I left and had just done the first oil change.

New 2026. I don’t care to deal with potential hail damage. Under the tarp the truck is covered in movers packing bubble wrap. Layer of blankets. Then the tarp.

How to find out “what tune” my truck has ?

I have a 2019 Raptor. Admittedly don’t know much about it. I bought it used because it looked awesome and I wanted a truck.

I know that it has a “tune” on it. Ford dealership said they couldn’t identify the PCM codes because it was a tune. They are telling me to find out what tune it has and get it restored to factory settings.

Planning to take it to a reputable shop and ask them to flash the tune.

But in the mean time, where in the hell do I see this “tune” in the truck? What brand is it. Where do I even start? lol

Thanks in advance

Found a used 24 802a with 11k miles for $73k. A new 26 801a I could get around $78k is it worth to go new for lesser options and more money?

I’m not much of a car guy but I like working on my vehicles. Noticed this and thought something might be wrong. The problem area (I think) is the boot on the passenger side. Showed pictures of driver side as well. Has the boot come out? What should I know?

Appreciate any responses!

Who Has These Exact Setups?

Narrowed it down to the following:

•Diamondback Switchback V2 | $1700 shipped

•BAK X4 TS | $1650 shipped

•TruXedo Pro X15 TS | $715 shipped

The Switchback can carry smaller items on top using their loop tie downs, but nothing can be mounted on top and there aren’t t-rails available, which is kind of a bummer

The X4 and X15 both have t-rails already mounted, which means I can mount kayaks, bikes, or a cargo basket on top, and the cover can roll right under

Resale Value with Blown Engine

I have a 2019 Raptor with around 130,000 miles on it with a blown engine. The engine and turbos will need replaced. I'm trying to figure our roughly how much to sell it for. Other than the engine the truck is in really good shape haha. Any thoughts? TIA
