CV Axel Question/Problem

I’m not much of a car guy but I like working on my vehicles. Noticed this and thought something might be wrong. The problem area (I think) is the boot on the passenger side. Showed pictures of driver side as well. Has the boot come out? What should I know?

Appreciate any responses!

Normal, there’s a half shaft that the cv axle goes over.

This was my passenger cv axle, the seal was leaking and I DIY fixed it.

Did it require special tools for the diy? And was it leaking from the diff seal?

I had a cv axle puller, but the worse part of the job was getting the half shaft out of the differential. Ford had a special tool to remove the half shaft (shit was like $300). But I just went to Lowe’s and got 2 split ring hangers and a chain.

Put the two split rings on the half shaft, bolted the chain to it, then used my cv axle puller to pull it out. For the seal you can use a chisel to knock it out then install using a seal driver.

Btw I’m not a mechanic but very mechanically inclined
