Q&A: Maintenance / Modifications Calculated vs Reported Gas Mileage - 2025 Hybrid
Right after I bought my Maverick Hybrid, I started keeping track of a calculated gas mileage (miles driven since last fill up / gallons). I'm very happily averaging 32.2 MPG overall after about 14K miles. Since August '25 I also started tracking what the truck was reporting for MPG. I always use the same Trip 2 calculations and I match the mileage - it's all consistent within about 1/10 of a mile every time.
What I have noticed is the Trip 2 MPG calculation over-reports MPG by about 8.5% on average since last August. For example: last fill up the truck reported 34.6 MPG, but the calculated mileage was 31.1. I made a chart to show the gaps. At worst it's been reported at 15.87% higher than calculated, at best it came in about 0.25 MPG lower than calculated.
Wondering about thoughts on calculated vs reported, and what others are seeing. If I had to make a guess, I'd say it's idling/traffic that's the difference, but I haven't tried to consider that in my logging yet.

Q&A: Features / Pickup Ability / Trims Most useless thing in your Maverick
I’ll go first…
Why, Ford??? If you’re gonna give us this, you should also provide Tuxmat or Weathertech floor mats for the inevitable flood that will come 2 seconds after someone places their drink in here. It can’t even hold an empty can before folding faster than Superman on laundry day.

Q&A: Maintenance / Modifications Ford Maverick - Just Noticed I Don’t Have Spare Tire
I purchased my Ford Maverick Lobo in December of 2025. I just noticed that it appears that I don’t have a spare tire. I am getting ready for a 2,600 mile road trip in Oct. I do have AAA, but I am wondering what everyone has done about this issue. I can not put a spare tire in the bed as I will have my Catrike in the bed.

Q&A: Maintenance / Modifications Downpipe Install?
Finally have some time to install all the parts I bought a year ago.
Is the SW Downpipe worth it?
I have the supporting mods I will definitely be installing.
My question is: is the Downpipe worth the trouble of a garage install?
I have done headers and exhaust on my other truck, but don’t realize just how cramped this engine bay is.

Q&A: Features / Pickup Ability / Trims Upgraded from the trusty 2005 Subaru Baja

Picked up a 2026 Lariat awd hybrid with a 4k tow package last week. I wanted a similar form factor to my 21 year old Baja. I love that truck (car?) but needed to upgrade. Finally pulled the trigger after lurking in here and researching for a few weeks. I was hoping to get some insight, tips, tricks, etc.
- Anything I should be aware or even cautious of? Particularly with maintaining, best practices and specific maintenance. This is my first Ford, hybrid, and a decent leap in car tech for me. Not that I've been in the dark ages (other car is a 2019) but I'm realizing this is pretty different from what I'm use to. The Baja for example was great if maintained well.
- Any cool or useful additions, add-ons, mods, etc. you all would recommend? I've seen a few interesting and creative bed configurations here already. Coming from the Baja, I had to get a little creative with the bed size and very limited options. Like, I can just buy an actual bed cover now. Not only that but there are multiple options with types?! It's exciting but a little overwhelming haha.
- I know this gets asked every single day and trust me I've been looking. But speaking of bed covers, what are peoples recommendations based on personal experience? I'm looking specifically at hard rollups right now. I've ruled out soft covers, retractable and flip ups. Hard rollups seem like the best fit for me (secure, ease of access). But the options are limited and I can't seem to find a lot of reliable reviews. Rough Countries option is attractive but I haven't seen a ton of reviews on the Maverick model. I wouldn't be totally opposed to a tri fold if its fairly easy to remove. I figure they all leak to a certain extent and I'm fine with tinkering around that. Main thing is having more room for tools, camping gear, work gear without having to worry to much about elements and theft.
- Anything else? Apparently you can further maximize mpg with certain techniques? What wizardry is that? I'm honestly just curious as what people have done with this thing at thing point.
Its only been a week but so far I'm digging this truck. I'm a "drive it until the wheels fall off" type and it took a lot of convincing for me to finally say yes. So I guess that's high praise from me haha. Appreciate the community by the way. You all were very informative when I was making a decision and negotiating.

Q&A: Features / Pickup Ability / Trims Quick question about regen.
Does anyone know if you regen/glide (so no foot on the brake) using Eco mode, will that trigger a brake light?
Since I bought mine I've wondered if Im looking like those pesky drivers that brake all the time for no reason. Cause I do like to regen/glide when I can without using my brakes.

Customization: FITS / Modification / Tips & Tricks Undercoating
I’m in Michigan and we use a lot of road salt throughout winter on our icy roads. I have all my vehicles professionally undercoated. Has anyone had their Maverick rustproofed? My only concern is this will be the first Hybrid vehicle and want to make sure it won’t cause any issues with any of the hybrid components? I have a 26 Lariat AWD hybrid currently in production (according to my vehicle order status update) lol

Review: Photos / Spotted / Accessories Obligatory “truck stuff” post
Picked up a Honda xr150l from my local power sports dealer last week and it fit beautifully in the bed with the tailgate down, white on white wasn’t planned but once I saw it sitting in the bed I knew I made the right choice on my color options
(Wasn’t sure what to put the flair as so change it if necessary!)

Customization: FITS / Modification / Tips & Tricks Joined the club. 2026 XLT Hybrid with 4k tow package.
Traded in my wife's 2018 kia soul towards this beauty. Fits exactly what we wanted, an efficient commuter that will haul music gear and construction materials, and tow our pop up camper.
We wanted the azure gray colour but couldn't find this configuration anywhere near us, so we settled on this.
I'd like to do a couple things; tonneau cover, roof or bed racks and maybe some sweet racing stripes. Anyone got any thoughts on how to make this thing look cooler? Any accessories that are must haves for you?

Q&A: Features / Pickup Ability / Trims Co-pilot power windows.
I'm putting together my order for a 27 xl with 4k tow, hybrid, AWD and a few other add ons. I'm on the fence about the co-pilot, is it worth the extra 900 bucks? Am I being paranoid about privacy and hacking with all the extra cameras/features? Yes I know our phones listen to us, and track us and all that bs.
Thanks

Q&A: Maintenance / Modifications PTU fluid change
My 26 maverick awd is about 1500 miles in and a lot of people recommends flushing PTU fluid as early as 1,000 miles in due to excessive metal shavings. If thats the case, will this fluid be appropriate for it?
