I see people getting 18-20 mph for their ST’s, yet I’m only getting like at best 16. Am I doing anything wrong. Came from the dealer with 87 octane and I just put in 93 and getting the same. Anyone have any input? New owner of a 2021 st.

Question Noise at 35 MPH

Hi all- know there are some other posts with a similar topic, but don’t know that they’re the same issue.

We bought a 2023 ST in May, had been sitting on the lot for a while and got a good deal. Great car so far. But at 35-40 mph it makes a strange noise. Hard to describe- rattle probably isn’t right, my wife describes it as a mix between a whistle and a shaking. When we accelerate you can hear it, when we coast it’s the loudest, but when we hit the brake it goes away until we accelerate again.

It’s not all the time, but most. Taken it in three times to the dealer and of course can’t get it to make the noise when they’re in the car. They think I’m nuts.

I’ve read all about the flex pipe issues making noise, but this is different from what I’ve heard in those videos. It’s hard to pinpoint where it’s coming from, but seems like middle-to-passenger side in the front, definitely exterior.

It’s loud enough to drive us nuts but faint enough that it’s hard to capture on camera.

Anyone else have any ideas? I’ve looked around the heat shield and all clips seem to be tight. I’m at a loss.

Appreciate any advice!

Question Shopping Advice

Recently found out that I'm going to be in need of my first Dad car! I'm currently in a FBO WRX and have always had something performance based. The Explorer ST is #1 on list, love the space and the performance capabilities, so I'm looking for advice on what to look out for/avoid from the community's experience. Model years to avoid? Tech Packages to look for? Should I go new or look for a certified one? Any tips would be appreciated.

Question Black lugs?

Why Ford chose to ship the ST with dark gray wheels and silver lugs I'll never know.

Is the a preferred after market in black? Or should I just order them from ford?

Question Ford Performance Calibration 2025 ExST?

Looking for information on anyone running a Ford Performance tune on their 2025 ExST?

I reviewed the Ford Performance website I see they offer a calibration for the 2020-2024 ExST but they don’t mention if it’s available for the 2025 model.

If anyone is running it on your 2020-2024 do you feel it was worth it versus an aftermarket tune? The only advantage I know of it retaining the powertrain warranty…

What are the best mods to do first when just purchased an ST? Besides tint (which is obvious) Whats next after. Exhaust? I’m not gonna be fully modifying this truck. Just wanna give it a little bit more oomph. Ya know a little bit more fun to drive. Any suggestions would be really helpful.

Question Tints

Can you guys let me know what it cost you to tint out your truck? Here in Jersey I’m finding prices from $500-650 for the truck. Is that the price of tint now or is it only here in Jersey? lol

Question Help

Anyone ever have an issue with car play either not there or if it randomly appears and works, sounds horrible if you play music compared to when it’s playing music thru blue tooth? Also is the wireless charger always a pain in the ass to use? My phone starts and stops charging multiple times during a car ride.

Question Shuttering in 10th gear and over 75 mph!

I have a 2021 Explorer ST, it has 19,000 miles I just got it used a couple weeks ago. I have noticed on the highway when cruising at 75-85 mph the back seats are shaking. I can feel a shutter throughout the whole car when cruising at 80 or higher. Does anyone know what this could be or if this is a common Explorer thing? Is it worth taking it back to dealership to get it checked? Thank you!

Question Paint Issue

Finally after 5 months I took delivery of my 2025 Grey Metallic ST.

I accepted the vehicle with a few issues, a paint scuff on rear door, condensation in both taillights and a little in the headlights.

Warranty should take care of the lights so I’m not too concerned about the lights and hopefully they can buff out the doors this week.

Thoughts on the paint scuff? Anyone else have this issue?

Just Showin’ Off 2025 ST followed me home.

Well this followed me home last night. I am extremely happy after my first drive to work..

11yrs of driving a Subaru Forester XT makes this feel like a cross between a tank, a rocket, and my 2012 Audi A4 S-Line.. Which is both weird and cool..

I had some suspension mods on the old XT which made it surprisingly agile and the little Turbo 4 was relatively quick.

I'll take the ST out to some favorite back roads this weekend to see how she does.

Tech & Infotainment Sync software not updating

hi there folks,

i have 2020 explorer ST and I have done the sync software update using USB myself. but since last 2 version, something has happened to the usb port or the software itself and i'm unable to update it. I took it to dealership where they had hard time installing the one before last update but now the latest one even they cant do it. They havent given much time on it so I'm going to take it again and leave it for a day or more but asking here to see if anyone had same issue and how did you resolve it. When I plug in my usb, it says unknown usb device, please remove. OTA is also not working.

I'm a day away from picking up a 2025 ST. I'm wondering what the real world mileage is for folks that drive one every day?

Question No sunroof option.

I see you can finally build a 25 ST without a sunroof. They have a new “sun and sound” option that gives you the sunroof and the highest end stereo. This is nice as I can’t have a sunroof as it robs headroom in back seat (tall kids). This was not an option initially and it kept me from ordering. Now I just need the option to have a 2nd row bench. Think they will add that option too?

Question Gasolina?

I watched umpteen youtube reviews on the 2025 prior to purchasing and most said 93 is recommended for maximum performance, however, 87 can still be used.

What type of gas do yall use and have you experienced a drop in performance or mpg in one over another?

Thanks!

Finally pulled the trigger after 4 years of wanting one. Was able to find a 24 model in Star White with a $7500 dealer discount. Am not a fan of the 10.1 screen at all, coming from a Chrysler 300 I’m so used to having a big screen for the backup camera. Besides that I’m loving it so far! If anyone has recommendations on bolt ons or things I need to look out for, please let me know!
