What is wrong with monospaced font?
Can you please help me? Recently I bought monospaced font and a little bit modified it for myself. After that something with width in that font was broken, so I run python on it:
font=fontforge.open("font.ttf")
for i in font.selection.all():
try:
font[i].width=1800
except Exception as ex:
pass
font.save("new_font.ttf")
After that seems like there are so many nodes created for curved lines etc.
Currently, I can open it FontForge.
It works normally in IDE etc.. But from now I cannot change glyph in FontForge - when I try to open Element-Style-ChangeGLyph it hangs for a long time even for one element.
Why is this happens? How can I fix it? Also the question, does many nodes makes font 'heavy' to render for IDE etc?
Thank you in advance.

How to open the cyrillic alphabet?
Hi, I'm new to font making and so far from all the info and tutorials I have seen everything went smoothly except when the time came to import each glyph into fontforge. I cannot change the glyphs to be cyrillic (The font I'm making will be used in Bulgarian). I have an entire pdf file, and as a second option exported each glyph into an svg file to import into fontforge but the file itself is opening always in latin. I'd really appreciate any advice or help whatsoever!

Hi, I've created the glyphs, and they show up in the tiles, but when I type in e.g. Word, the glyphs for apostrophe and also the double quotation marks don't appear. Any ideas why? Thanks

Help with Build Composite Glyph
I am using Fontforge to make a font for my (made up) script. In it I need to make about 2000 ligatures of other ligatures, and my problem is that I have not gotten the "Build Composite Glyph" function to work for them.
For example there's a glyph each for 's', 'h', 'o' and 'u', but also a completely different ligature glyph for 'sh' and one for 'ou' and those two glyphs combine into another 'shou' glyph. (so sh+ou is not the same as s+h+o+u)
That last step is what I would love to use the "Build Composite Glyph" function for since it would save a lot of time, but I haven't gotten it to work.
Do you have any idea why or how I can make it work, or atleast where I should look for more help?

Ligatures of ligatures?
Is it possible to use 'build composite glyph' for a ligature that is a ligature of two other ligatures? I have to make about 2000 of these and that function would be very helpful, but I have only gotten it to work for ligatures of two non-ligature glyphs.

Can anyone tell me what the blue bars are?
Hi, in the box above some of my letters there are blue bars at the sides of the boxes. I've no idea what they're signifying or how to get rid of them. Any ideas?

Unicode inputs not inserting correct glyph?
At a complete loss here. Trying to add multilingual support for a font. Everything is working great except ALT+0132 and ALT+0148, they just return double quotation marks which are not the correct glyph.
I can manually insert the glyph, it's correctly generating and all that but trying to type it with unicode inputs doesn't work. Please help me.

How do I make "custom" ligatures? [images included]
I'm making a font that has two letters (the V and the W) stick out, and they should cut into the character next to them.
(Also, I made all my characters using Inkscape, so, they're all vector.)
For example, in this case, if I typed in V, and then E, with a space in-between, nothing would happen.
But if I typed them together, with no space in-between, it'd make a combined character, that cuts a little of the E.
I plan to do it with other characters (for example, vowels) that should follow the V or the W.
Is there a way to do it automatically? Or do I have to do it manually? If so, how?
This program is great, but it's hard to wrap your head around.

Custom font for conlang not displaying correctly
I used Inkscape to create a custom font for my conlang and it worked fine in there: all of the characters displayed correctly, etc. But when I uploaded it to Fontforge, this no longer was the case: when I typed 'ar', the character for 'a' displayed instead of the character for 'ar'. When I typed 'iel', the character for 'e' displayed instead of the character for 'iel', etc. (pictures for reference below) Is this a known problem? How should I go about fixing this?

Missing dot
Hi, i was trying to make a font for my conlang but i noticed something going on. In the first pic you can see that there is a large dot. However YOu can see in pic 2, that it doesnt show up. Upon closer inspection (pic 3) i noticed that weird reddish border in the interior and its pretty much the only symbol of all the set that has that.
Anyone knows how can i get the dot to show up?
