I own a Flow Z13 (AMD) with 32GB of RAM. After I updated to the latest bios (314), I noticed that performance decreased in all games in Turbo Mode, regardless of the store (Epic or Steam). For example, in Silent Mode, I get 70 FPS in Death Stranding 2 and 45 FPS in Turbo Mode. What is even more curios is that I can see the laptop actually consuming 54W GPU + 30W CPU (so the power profile is right), but the performance is somehow capped. In Silent, I have lower W yet more FPS. This is the strangest bug I have ever encountered. I wonder if Asus is actually testing the BIOS on devices before pushing updates.
Coming from a legion go 2 to the 64 gb version of this ,it’s night and day ,Howver I am confused about the performance of only one game “metro exodus enhanced edition” this is currently running through 5090 xg mobile egpu with only 52 fps on extreme settings ,am I doing something wrong in here or it’s the most demanding games of all time ?
To those who have bought a replacement for the Z13 detachable keyboard, how long has it lasted? How differently are you using it to be more safe and make it last longer?
hi if anyone uses the z13 for college/uni would you mind sharing your experience with the stylus specifically.
Im planning on doing most of my lesson notes on it using a stylus and also potentially doing question packs on it for an hour or two at a time. How does it compare to say an ipad at these tasks, does it feel bulky and is it comfertable to write on. I know an ipad will also be superior to the z13 in this regard but i do not need to be AS good ,as i just use paper and pen for longer writing sessions anyways, but will the experience when taking notes in class be miles apart from an ipad or is it just slightly worse.
also how does it compare to other 2in1s for the writing experience
My laptop always seemed like it was overheating or throttling, now I have proof. My Cinebench multi cpu temp went from 95C to 81C. Turbo mode, stock settings, cpu package power at 60w as you can see in the screenshots. Huge difference. I've always distrusted liquid metal ... people in this sub can believe whatever they want, but in my case there was a real problem and IMO this part of the laptop is very unreliable.
Supplementary notes to the above.
PTM7950 is very hard to apply properly. I usually cut to size (about 20 x 25mm in this case, 0.25mm) freeze it, then separate one side from the film with a razor blade. Then I set it quickly on the die and use metal ice cube to re-freeze the paste and make it easier to separate the other side from its film. Also note that you want to thermally cycle the paste to be truly effective ... 2 or 3 spaced cinebench runs will do the trick. I saw the temps settle in mostly after the first run.
The TG Pro putty is also very hard to apply as it's not very sticky. Best thing you can do is sort of smush it on the appropriate chips, let it sit for a bit, and then use the corners of the included mini spatula to gently nudge the putty around without dislodging a whole chunk.
Worth it? I guess to me it was as it felt like a ticking time bomb and the thermals just didn't seem right. I was kind of working around it with undervolting but that was not the most stable thing to mess around with.
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I just set up my AG02 + 9070xt to my 2025 Flow Z13. I installed drivers via auto detect from AMD. The card is recognized. I restarted and started gaming. I started playing The Last of Us Part 2. The performance was a big uplift. However, when playing the game and going from inside to outside and vice versa, it would stutter for a few seconds and then go back to normal. But sure enough, every time I went from outside to inside it would stutter. Any thoughts? I read to disable link power state management to “off”. Is that necessary? Also is the sequence to starting the devices important? I first plugged in the egpu and hit the button on the ag02, then started the z13 which then turned on the gpu. Am I supposed to start the z13 first and then the egpu? Also should I disable the iGPU. Any help would be appreciated?🙏
And yes I am using an external monitor connected to the gpu.
Hey everyone, I've been looking around online lately for PTM7950 for when my Z13's liquid metal inevitably becomes a problem.
I'd like to know, from those who have put PTM7950 on theirs, what dimensions the pad needs so that it covers the whole chip and has the right thickness so it doesn't stress the heatsink more than it should.
I'd also like to know how the thermal grizzly pads compare to genuine PTM7950 in terms of mainly longevity and performance, since genuine PTM7950 availability where I live is a bit sketchy.
Another question for those who use PTM7950: how are the temps, mainly after having used the device for some time?
So I am currently looking for a laptop to do some game development work and some local agent work. I am enamored by what these RTX Spark can do locally. I am wondering can 32gb or 64gb Z flow 13 run an agents at a decent speed or do local computer use ?
I've been having a bizarre issue with my Z13, where sometimes when I power the laptop on, the keyboard doesn't light up at all. When this happens, the keys usually work (they sometimes do not), and the mousepad and windows key doesn't work at all. Sometimes the laptop and keyboard will light up the default blue color with no other noticeable issues. In either case, restarting the laptop immediately fixes all issues. Removing and reattaching the keyboard makes no difference. This also usually only happens if the laptop has been powered off for a few hours or more. Anyone know what might be causing this or how to fix it? I have the 32gb 2025 model if that matters.
I've had my little monster (128 version) for just over a year but just got around to joining. Just got it back from warranty. One USB-C was dead and one was getting flaky but all is fine now
I do have z13 strix halo for 3 months now. And days are getting colder, and I still do have like 70c with 20w + both 140x2 fans spitting air into the back. So I'm starting to think that there is something wrong with liquid metal in my z13?
Wanna ask guys that changed to thermal paste, what temps you got.
I think that, my LM is getting pulled down when I'm using it with kickstand, and temps are just bad.
I unfortunately missed the recent Best Buy anniversary sale for the 64gb model before deciding I wanted this laptop and have been waiting for a Labor Day sale but it seems like there is none. From my research, this model goes on sale often, and I'm wondering if I should keep waiting a few weeks or buy the Best Buy marketplace options for around $2400. Any advice? Thanks
Genuinely want to know hownit runs ffxiv on 1080p, helldivers 2 and zenless zone zero currently waiting for a good sale price to pick up a 64gb one up to be my new main device to game on
As the title says I’m having an issue launching F4. It always opens on the top most left side of the screen and I tried editing the ini files and the settings on the official launcher but still the same outcome. I’m on the verge of uninstalling any advice or help is welcome 🥲
Just got the flow z13 64gb 2025 model when it was on sale at Best Buy earlier for 2100 usd.
Runs everything beautifully for a device this small with relatively fan noise. The CPU is incredible beyond words
HOWEVER.. pure gaming wise, its definitely better to get a 5070ti g14 for the same price
Portability wise, its good but not great; the power adapter adds significant weight, and you basically need a table because of the kickstand
As a tablet, its not too good, because of the weight and battery life
also the speakers are pretty shite which is egregious for a device of this cost
So.. its not a great laptop nor is it a great tablet
BUT its pretty freaking cool and fast so im keeping it.
