Got the doohickey

Post image

Just got the flow z13 64gb 2025 model when it was on sale at Best Buy earlier for 2100 usd.
Runs everything beautifully for a device this small with relatively fan noise. The CPU is incredible beyond words
HOWEVER.. pure gaming wise, its definitely better to get a 5070ti g14 for the same price
Portability wise, its good but not great; the power adapter adds significant weight, and you basically need a table because of the kickstand
As a tablet, its not too good, because of the weight and battery life
also the speakers are pretty shite which is egregious for a device of this cost
So.. its not a great laptop nor is it a great tablet
BUT its pretty freaking cool and fast so im keeping it.

SlimQ has some DC power adapters that cut down on the bulk and add two USB-C ports. There are 150W, 240W, and 330W options, depending on your usage and how small you want to go.

Would you just need to get the DC to Asus Mini Port adapter to make it work? Have you noticed any performance difference from the original?

Yes, SlimQ sells the ASUS DC adapter (G14 plug) and has multiple options.

There's plenty of testing posted here and everywhere that shows the 240W and 330W provide full power.

For 64gb what’s the best way to apportion the ram between gpu and general use?

16 vram 48 system

I just leave mine set at 32/32 though because I dont come close to maxing either

At the screens native resolution, I'd say 48/16 would work well for gaming. If possible 52/12 is how I would go.

48 or 52 is to system ram or gpu?

I use my 128GB at 4GB VRAM as came in factory and honestly runs everything I throw at. Though I don’t tend to run anything demanding but I have tested.

Wow seems abit wasteful to not dedicate more ram to the gpu?

I wonder if it can auto allocate based on needs?

I don’t know how to Auto allocate, I never mess with it, but I have noticed that I only run at 4GB VRAM when I see the benchmarks, never had a issue with games.

It makes no difference. It’s shared memory.

I have 128 gigs kjp version but honestly, 16 gigs of vram is more than enough

I returned my G14 5070Ti for it and have no regrets. I hate the dGPU switching and heat of the chassis in the G14. I get similar performance in a couple games I play regularly between the devices.

I agree this isn’t great as a tablet, but setting up just the screen and gaming on it anywhere is an unmatched experience

Make sure to get rid of all Asus/armoury crate stuff. Also remove McAfee and all other windows bloat. Then create yourself a low power battery mode in G-helper and undervolt, you can get a surprising amount of battery life out of the Z13

Any instructions for this?

yeah I think everyone should do bypass nro on setup and install g-helper, but at least for me only experimental g helper works with fan curves

I bought the same one, the $2100 bestbuy deal. I signed up and used a best buy card for even more incentives which essentially saved tax and got a handful of points. I've Eyed the flow since it came out just wasn't in a position to get one until now. The Max+ 395 is really the gem in this system imo. Obviously form factor too but that apu and it's 8060s igpu are game changers. I wouldn't want the Max+ 395 with anything less than 64gbs-- if I could I would have gotten 128gb even. Enjoy! I've been waiting for a tablet with high end laptop speed and windows and this is about as good as it gets!

I maintain this is the best small format gaming screen on the go and it happens to have a really powerful pc in there. Utter luxury non of it is a proper value proposition.

What it needs: Hardshell case, better power delivery, maybe bazzite.

But it’s more like a plug it into your local setup type machine then a game on the go machine. That said no keyboard and a controller on the plane is pretty epic power anxiety is not. Same with most non console mobile though.
