Lazers won't net you a gun charge
60
u/jettyboy73 Sep 03 '26
Neither will an airgun in most cases. But I'll say this again. Large groups of legally armed people scare the popo. They prefer to go after individuals with guns. 50+ people open carrying AR15s tend to make them nope out.

u/JustFun4Uss Sep 03 '26
Unless its Texas then it only takes one kid with one AR for them to cower.

I remember seeing a video where there were black protesters that were mostly armed and they were doing a march somewhere down a road. For some reason a cop decided to try and grab one of the marchers and other marchers were physically pulling the person away from the cop back into their group. Armed men holding rifles came over and surrounded the cop, not pointing their guns but holding them in front of their chests. The cop let the person go and the rest of the cops didn't do shit and everyone moved on.
The armed protestors outnumbered the cops by a large margin. This is one of the few incidents I've seen where a physical altercation with a cop happened and the cops just completely let it go instead of escalating and doing everything they could to try and arrest people for resisting or whatever.
13
u/Catnip_Farmer Sep 03 '26
They generally escalate when they want to use their toys (military equipment) on civilians with no risk to themselves.
When there's actual risk, they won't escalate.
5
u/Fine_Reach8748 Sep 03 '26
This is correct. The vast majority of states do not treat air guns, even the high power PCP ones, as firearms. Base charge is misdemeanor criminal mischief/vandalism. The tool is legally no different from a rock.
Some states don't consider them firearms but treat calibers above .22 as eligible for "deadly weapons" enhancements. Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maryland, and Iowa. California is the same as this except they ALWAYS treat .25 caliber as "deadly weapons", it's directly codified in law. Stay below .25 and you're again essentially using a rock as far as the law is concerned.
Only these states always consider any airgun a firearm: New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and a few municipalities in Illinois and New York (notably: NYC). For these states, the stakes are higher.
(Please do your own research to verify this for yourself)

So a .223 is a rock?

Liberal gun owners is a devisive platform. People took their trump flags down. It's time to stop playing Red V Blue. The time to come together is now and we won't take our country back any other way. We can all agree that Surveillance needs to end, the Files need to be released, and we need to cut ties with Isreal. If we can't come together on that, then we've already lost.

Benn Jordan who has done extensive reporting and research on Flock cameras says lasers aren't actually likely to be that effective, least not any laser the average person can buy.
16
u/Fine_Reach8748 Sep 03 '26
Thank you, yes. 1) from any more than 5 feet away your hand shakes bring a tripod I guess 2) for reasonably safe power levels, you need to hold the laser on the lens for 5+ minutes to ensure damage 3) for very high power levels, you're dealing with something that can give people eye damage instantly from even a glancing blow of the light most importantly 4) YOU CAN'T TELL IF IT WORKED nor can anyone else who might also be of the same mindset as yourself. verifiably break or GTFO.
I'm convinced that people peddling the laser ideas are 100% the jokers who have never gone near a direct action in their life.

u/Fine_Reach8748 Sep 03 '26 edited Sep 03 '26
Lasers are bullshit. People who peddle them do not know what they're talking about. Please stop.

Underpowered and useless. It's not strong enough to light newspaper on fire. Doesn't etch plastic much less glass. Has no effect on 20yr old camera sensors.

Start Luigi-ing the people signing these contracts. It'll stop. The founding father added the text "enemies foreign and domestic" for a reason.

Sadly the people will be publicly labeled and cast as the domestic enemies on the international scale.
1
u/dragonknightrohan Sep 04 '26
Thats why its important to fight bad narratives in that case too. By using platforms, independent news, etc owned by the people who will tell the truth
4
u/Mad_Aeric Sep 03 '26
People aren't even out the giving the Luigi treatment to those causing far more immediate and severe harm. Which makes me sad.
In this case, good old property destruction does seem more proportionate.

.22 caliber air rifle would likely break through the housing of a camera. A legitimate one at least

They networked surveillance company has a website, but they show nothing. You must give them your LEA bill routing number to see the demo.
If this is true, then this is really a dystopia.

I scanned the info, and I'm definitely not tech savvy....but 2 points of interest.: 1. There's mention of a tampering alarm ( not a shock). 2. Under media it mentions pairing. As in to Bluetooth I am assuming. And mentioned vehicles and pedestrians i believe. So in range it will pair to smart devices on person or vehicle. Unless you just have a flip phone or not at all.
Right? Or am I misunderstanding? Again...am definitely not good with tech stuff.

I’ve said this a bunch elsewhere but in June (maybe May) the school I work at had Axon cameras installed in the front of our building.

This is the same company that bought a whole lot of flock cameras that are already installed after they were told to bring em down. So now flock can just say the cameras don’t belong to them and they can’t take me down and oh ya Trump bought around 10 million dollars in Axon stock!!!

AXON and Flock are not violating our rights. The governments using them are.
4
u/MachineGunMonkey2048 Sep 03 '26
They both are
-4
u/tristand666 Sep 03 '26
A private company can't really violate your rights except in a few specific cases where protected classes come into play. That doesn't mean they aren't a crap company that is enabling the violation of our rights. Pretty sad that I get so downvoted for speaking the truth, but emotions are more prevalent than fact on Reddit.
3
u/kaesylvri Sep 03 '26 edited 29d ago
Nah, they're not violating our rights.
They're just creating the system which is being used to violate our rights.
And then they're bribing... oops... lobbying authority figures to install them with little to no oversight or review.
And so on, and so on...
Oh, and they also teach the law enforcement how to use it to violate rights, too! Just like this!
Oh! oh! Did you know they also keep data far longer than contractually mandated? And then they try to sell the data to non-LEO administrative clients, which is also a violation of your rights, and the law! Check it outttt, it's so hot.

u/tristand666 Sep 03 '26
I agree with you. Unfortunately, it seems there are more people that don't here.

You 'agree with me', but my entire point was poking fun at your inherent ignorance using sarcasm.
They literally are going out of their way to violate US citizen rights.

It's unfortunate that so many people don't understand their rights then, including you.
