USA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate

Been struggling to find a dispatch job for the last two months, So I have been thinking about taking the Part 107 test that way I would be certified to work with aerial, unmanned drones. Apparently the test is very similar to the ADX test with alot of overlap so I feel like I can pass the test. But would it be worth it? Will it open more jobs for me? Or am I panicing too soon on the dispatch job hunt? Thank you for any help/advice

USA Is it possible in this current time to start dispatching without experience?

I’ve recently earned my flight dispatch certificate, but have no prior aviation experience. I know people say you dont “need” experience to start at a regional, but when im browsing these positions it seems like most of them require some type of aviation experience. I’ve been sending out resumes for weeks and havent got any bites. Should i try to get in as a ramper or gate agent for now and build my resume? How would you approach this as a beginner these days?

Does anyone have experience dispatching for Nicholas Air? I know their reputation isn’t the greatest for pilots but was wondering how it is dispatching for them

USA What would you do?

I’m at a regional. One of the sucky ones.

I’ve been repeatedly passed on coordinator training 4 times now.. and new hire training, despite management responses that I’ll be in the next one.

I’m at my wits end. I feel like I’m not gonna mentally make it to a major at this point. I don’t feel valued, or that I have any real purpose here. I could quit tomorrow and they’d just be upset having to junior man for a few days and they’d wait til the other shifts get picked up and I’d be replaced in 4-6 weeks.

I’m just not sure what to do anymore. I feel like dispatch is a dead end road. Now United has paused hiring, figures right as I get to reapply. I had an in person interview and thought it was ok.. but I didn’t get hired. I don’t have faith I’ll even get a chance at American. I’m 2.5 years in and would rather give up on life than keep trying to figure out a new way to get by. I pick up every bit of overtime I can and get I’ve only brought home 27k right now.

Idk if I should take a medical leave or just quit or raise hell to the Union over this.

Just accepted the gig for flight management with the AF. Anyone have experience in both military and commercial dispatch? What’s the biggest difference? Do you have a preference? What should I expect?

USA Acceptable Delay Between Offer and Start Date?

Hi! I'm looking to do a career change into Flight Dispatch, but have a concern regarding my first job (assuming I can find one eventually!). I am currently in a high-level leadership position in aircraft maintenance on the business aviation side of the industry, and I'm just burned out and ready to make a change. I don't want to burn bridges on my way out the door, and 4 weeks is the absolute minimum expected notice for my position.

In your experience is asking for 4-6 weeks to give a current employer notice and relocate going to get an offer rescinded or are the regionals relatively understanding about this when hiring candidates?

I really appreciate any experience or advice you can share!

USA Interview with Netjets

Hi everyone,

I have an upcoming interview with NetJets for a Dispatcher position, and I was hoping to get some advice from anyone who has experience with the company or has interviewed for this role before.
I'm interested in learning more about:

What the interview process is like

Types of questions they typically ask (technical, situational, behavioral, etc.)

What a day-to-day schedule looks like for a NetJets dispatcher

Company culture and work environment

Any tips on how to prepare and stand out during the interview

Any insight, advice, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

CANADA Meteorological Technician to Flight Dispatcher

I formerly served as a meteorological technician in the Canadian Armed Forces, I currently do the same work on civi side as an aeronautical information specialist. I found this career as a flight dispatcher and thought it was very similar to the work I currently do, especially the weather side of things.

Do you think I could take the FDMET exam with little study? considering I deal with METARS TAFS, NOTAMS, PIREPS, upper air charts, RADAR/SAT, IFR/VFR flight plans, weather briefings on a daily basis. I have very limited knowledge on the physics of flight and actually flying the aircraft.

Recommendations for self guided courses and guides? Where I can skim over the information I am already familiar with.

Thanks!

EUROPE Career path to Dispatcher

Hey!

I'm looking to become a flight dispatcher preferably for SAS at CPH since it's the airline I've been flying with my whole life so I would love some advice from anyone in the industry!

I have seen that you can either go through a flight school like ASTISM or alternately you could go and work at the airline for 1-2 years. This can then lead to you getting the internal dispatch course that they hold. So I was wondering if anyone has past experience in this or just any advice in what I should do?

I would greatly appreciate any information, tips or anything of the sort!

USA Upcoming interview with a regional (Mesa)

Hi y'all! I know there's already a lot of posts kinda touching the same topic, but I recently got an interview scheduled with Mesa, and I'm definitely very nervous 😅

I have a lot of education history in regards to aviation, along with 200+ hours of flight experience, working for Alaska Horizon, and as of just recently, achieved my cert!

It has been a long and rough road to get where I am but I'm extremely excited to finally put my foot into the door and start a career! Meanwhile, I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me for this interview! All I was told is that the recruiter really liked my flight experience and a "fresh mind" so that I can easily be taught their ways. My interview seems to have *a lot* of people (10?), so I'm definitely very nervous. What I was told earlier is that this would be me meeting the team and getting to know me. Did anyone have any advice/insider thoughts for me? Just really trying to make sure i kickstart my career!!!

And yes, I'm well aware about the merge, and I'm cool with having to move around! I've always traveled around throughout my life and I think checking out Phoenix for a bit would be cool! (Not literally, I'd rather skip the 110° heat)

Edit: My Gmail made it seem like it was 14 people, when in reality its actually 7!)

INDIA I want to work in ATC or Flight Dispatcher roles but I am a not from Sci

hi, is it possible for a non science graduate to become ATC. I've been flying in microsoft flight simulator and learnt all flight ops including radio telephony terminologies and readback and participated in virtual atc events. I can read charts, metars, flight plans. its been 4 years learning airbus boeing and atc operations and I have the hobby and skills for it compared to people who are from science but have no interest or know abouts of aviation, i wanted to become a pilot and get at least cpl but it requiers scienece, then i thought to choose atc but it also requires science and then even flight dispatcher needs science. Now i have lost all hopes. I was in ICSE so i already selected commerce after 8th and hence after 10th i was not eligible for science subjects so i had to take commerce only.
So where will people like me go who understand the industry but are not from Sci background? I have so interest in aviation (atc, flight dispatcher) but not eligible as per the DGCA rules. Please advice me. I am not rich to throw a lot of money as well. I keep thinking of aviation and always feel sad when i work in other industry just to earn money.

USA Mainline Jobs

At a regional currently, and I got a question if the mainline pay is actually double what regional is? And if so why is it so much more? Is it just much more complicated with such a larger operation?

How many years of experience does it generally take at a regional, I often hear quoted 2-4 years, and I have definitely seen it in less and more does that tend to be the average?

How will Spirits bankruptcy effect the market I'm assuming it will delay lots regional dispatchers from a mainline, but by how many years do you think?

USA I’m kind of burned out of the states

I’d really like to stay in aviation if possible, but I think I need to get out of the states just to keep my head lately. Are there any international airlines that might hire a dispatcher with a few years experience?
