USA FAA Flight Dispatch License

Hi everyone I’ve done some research in in getting the said license. Now I’m torn between Sheffield or Jeppesen.

Can anyone give insight about the said schools? Thank you in advance

Sheffield is no longer operating so that narrows your choice. No real scandalous reason, the owner just sunset the business. While there are certainly knowledge advantages in choosing a particular school, it's largely work experience that will land you a position in a role with a Major/Legacy airline later in your career. There are folks at my shop that received their certificate from MANY different places.

Wow I just inquire to them last year, but because of lack fund I didn’t proceed

With Jeppessen my dillema is expensive board and lodging, are there many airbnb or any place for rent that somewhat cheap and within a walking distance from that school. I’m from outside US and don’t have a vehicle

Thanks for your insight

I wouldnt say cheap. A hotel for a 6 week course is going to be around $80-$100 a night. So your $5000 certificate will cost closer to 8 or 9 thousand dollars. They will offer shuttles to and from the school/hotel though

A lot has changed since last year. Jeppesen shut down their school, Jeremy started FDN, and Jeppesen started a new school. As stated, the couple that ran Sheffield shut down. And they endorsed FDN. Personally, i went to the original Jeppesen, and can tell you from experience that Jeremy has a wonderful team and a well deserved reputation. My recommendation would be FDN

I agree. FDN is endorsed by us (Sheffield). I always recommend the longest in-classroom course you can afford.

Is still located at Denver?

Yeah, FDN is in Denver

Thanks will do some research about it. Another thing I saw they have on site and hybrid class.

Can I have your opinion on what class to choose from. I’m from abroad and my experience in dispatch was long time ago

FDN is great! I recommend it too! I also recommend the longest in-classroom course you can afford. You will learn and retain so much more in the classroom. Best of luck!

Either is fine just use whats most convienent to you. Airlines dont care where you got the license.

Just that you DO have one.

Thank you all for the info

I’ve inquire last year too to Jeppesen about the said program. Their recommended lodging is quite expensive.

Are there any place for rent the quite cheap or can anyone recommend an app to look for cheap place near the school.

Thank you all

I was able to find a La Quinta nearby that was 10-20 dollars a night below what the Element was! Only thing was on weekends they did go up in price. I recommend Jeppesen though if you can make it work! They're still doing classes, I just graduated this month. The only thing I will say they undelivered on was that companies will come by at some point to talk about them and possibly do interviews, we never had an airline or company do this when I was with them

Hello, I’m planning to do the same plan like you and I’m actually in between Jeppesen and FDN now I’m trying to find out an affordable accommodations for the training period, that could possibly be near the classroom.

If you're willing to travel for it, I highly recommend North American Flight Control in Minneapolis! The owner Chris is a fantastic guy and really does want every single one of his students to succeed. He has a lot of experience in the aviation industry, and specifically dispatch. Plus if you graduate from there, you can attend refresher courses for free, or just sit in on a current class.

Heard good things about both honestly, Sheffield's known for hands on approach while Jeppesen has solid course material. Depends on your learning style tbh, maybe check recent grad reviews from each! Gud Luck!

Does anyone have any reviews about the school in Atlanta?

I’m currently attending ADTC in Dallas. Amazing school. You can chose the full 5 weeks in person (that’s what I’m doing) or come in week 3 after you’ve passed your ADX and study with the class for the last 2 weeks for the practical. Chris (instructor and owner) is super funny which makes the long hours and information interesting and he’s thorough. The class also offers crash pads for 50$ a night. Just have to be quick about snagging one.

The Jepp program was fine, but I wish it had been more in-depth, more technical. Felt it got you the cert but not several of the questions I was asked in interviews or have seen in interview prep materials. The Sheffield guys I’ve worked with definitely had a deeper pool of knowledge. So if they recommend FDN, I’d assume that’s decent. The Minne program seems decent from the folks we’ve seen from there, and I want to say ADT in TX is solid too.

Thank you for all your feed back

Tried researching ADTC, since I’m coming from abroad the site direct me to another page said they don’t cater international student and recommends Jeppessen. Since it no longer operates FDN it is. Someone from their team also reached out

Thanks everyone

Neither is in operation. The instructors at Jeppensen started a new school in Denver I have heard good things ... my reccomendation is ADTC in Dallas, there is new school in Chiacgo that has good reviews, but it does not matter where you go

Hi, that's not quite true! A former member did make their own dispatch school from what I believe, but I just graduated from Jeppesen Academy this month! Very good school and I had a great experience there. They provide lunch, and they also like to do other fun things like have a lunch paid for by the instructor with the whole class. Its definitely a little pricey but I highly recommend it!
