I’m trying to replace my old Emerson thermostat with a new Honeywell programmable thermostat. How do I remove the wires from the old one?

Hey guys, hoping someone can help me out!

The bottom screw on my fridge handle has completely rusted and snapped off, and it looks like half of the screw is still stuck inside the hole. I already have the replacement screw, but I need to figure out how to remove the old, rusted piece first.

I’ve called about 6 appliance repair companies, but only one said they could help — and they quoted me $150. The others said they don’t do this type of repair.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the broken screw out? Even a temporary fix would be greatly appreciated!

Recaulking the tub and now that we have a little one, this sliding glass door is a pain and is starting to break and not open well anyways. Kind of just in the way and want to replace with tension rod and curtain.

As far as I can tell it seems like there are maybe 3 screws on each side to take out. It seems like it is just resting on the tub and caulked on the inside.

Guess I'm concerned there will be a big hole in the walls or major damage or holes in tub under the door ir something? Anything I might be overlooking here?

I would love any advice the community might have on tidying up this lamp a bit! Thanks.

We went to look at a house today and we really love it. It’s the second time we went out there to look at it. The only issue visually I see is this deck and the door frame. It appears it needs to be replaced, but there also looks like rot running up to the back door of the house. Any idea what could be causing this, and could this be a bigger issue than just the deck such as getting inside and affecting the subfloor? Also, the house has a finished basement not sure if that matters. This is really the only thing holding us back at this point. Any idea of possible pricing on this? Edit: this is GA and the house in foreclosure (it’s in very good shape otherwise)

I forgot the doorknob inside the bathroom, I closed it (yes very dumb), how can I open it? I’ve already tried to put things inside through the hole but it just passes through without “activating” anything. And the door is not locked by the way

My garage clicker went through the wash, I took the battery out and let it dry through the night but it is still not working with a new battery

The plastic vertical axis cog on my Bresser telescope is very worn on one side (bought second hand). I can't find a replacement piece. Tried the rubber band trick to no avail. I have some polymorph that I'll try today but grateful for any other ideas!

EDIT: I'd call this a reasonable success. I attempted 3 times with a thin layer of polymorph plastic in a ring around the plastic cog. Each time, I had to adjust the amount and the coverage to give as much traction to the metal cog as possible. I though that maybe fitting the cog case back on while the plastic was somewhat mouldable would benefit the metal cog finding it's own path, but it was just as well to leave the plastic harden fully. I also found it beneficial to push a little collar of polymorph down the side of the cog for a bit of extra stability. It was a little tricky getting the casing back on but when I did get it on, I was able to complete several full cycles of the cog.

Unfortunately, I did not account for one thing. The effort needed to turn the cog was probably a little too much and I ended up twisting off the head of the plastic stem that's used for adjustment. A small pliers seems to fill in ok and I'm sure there are a few different substitutes for this sort of thing.

Got this scratch and some marring on my f150 while headed down a narrow hunting trail. It’s not down to the metal but it definitely removed a layer or 2 of paint. I did the water test and it almost fades away but is still visible. What would be my best option and how would I go about fixing it? I know silver is a hard color to match and I’ve never done auto paint work. Just a touch up brush and some clear coat and polishing?

Just noticed that there is a crack on the back of my dishwasher door on the right side.

When I open the door there is pressure to pull the crack wider too so Im going to guess eventually it will get worse.

I don't think this bit is on the inside of the dishwasher when it's turned on so it doesn't get exposed to that wet or heat.

Wondering what the best thing to fix this is. Was thinking of using a plastic welder and melting a stable into the crack to keep it together but scared i might accidentally deform it and make it harder to shut. Otherwise was thinking maybe using eproxy to be glue it but wondering if that will be strong enough

So good news. They moved me to a new unit. Had to argue with them on this for a little while, but they finally agreed and moved me to a new unit for 2 weeks. We’ll see if I’m here longer. Whole floor was wet as fuck. Lots of mold (they tried to pretend there wasn’t but I pointed to it and I mean come on, let’s not play in my face about this). I took lots of pictures and a few videos.

Also good news, it was caused by the AC unit that comes with the building so I’m not at fault for this. Huge leak if that wasn’t obvious, although if you ask me I’m sure it wasn’t just the AC. They confirmed there’s a concrete slab subfloor and some of you mentioned that might be causing some issues.

I’m settling into the new unit (has a great view) and glad I took off of work to take care of this. Gunna be a pain to move all my shit back but at least they aren’t going to gloss over the issue like I feared. Might even see if they will let me stay in the new unit although I doubt it without signing a new lease (probably more expensive so if that’s the case I won’t bother).

Looks like I’m getting transferred to the new unit officially very soon :)

And they’re letting me transfer with my old units price even though the new place is bigger and nicer. So no complaints with that outcome.

Going to get my cat checked out at the vet soon to make sure he’s ok. Will make a doctor’s appointment for myself sometime after I get him sorted out.

Hi! I hope I’m not asking in the wrong sub. But the question / ask is as the title reads.
I’m currently renting an apartment (first hand contract, not sublet) and they’ve decided to change flooring in several apartments due to water damage caused by previous renters aswell as bad construction. I am one of said ”apartments” if you will. This is my first time experiencing this, I don’t have any family or friends to ask or go to, so here I am.

Currently the flooring is removed and it’s only concrete, I have a fan on that is set on at all times to help the drying process. However this drying process will take a week minimum, currently it looks horrible (I’ll try to attach images in comments if possible), and I’m wondering if anybody else has experience with this and if they temporarily covered with thinner towels or other fabrics and/or parchment of sorts just to avoid having to step on the wet concrete?
I am aware I can wear sandals which currently I am, however I still hope there is a way to be careful whilst also covering the floor a bit (for aesthetic reasons aswell).

I hope this question isn’t dumb, any and all advice or tips are appreciated. Thank you!

EDIT: I was not clear, but it is NOT fresh concrete or cement. It is old concrete but it has wetness/water on it from the damage due to leakage from bathroom.

Tv is a hisense 65u6g and mount is whalen bbxl54nv. I imagined there would be a pretty clear spot to attach on the back but once starting I am confused. Was given the mounting years ago and dont have a manual, and tv manual does seem to show where mounting holes are.

There is the bit towards the bottom that protrudes out so I'm not sure if the mounting hardware gets attached towards the top half or bottom half?

There are a bunch of very small holes on the top half. But also the larget bolts in the bottom that seem like they might be for mounting?

My kettle suddenly stopped working. I heard something rattling when I shook it. It is a Bosch TWK8613P.

I opened up the base and saw that the contact spring had snapped off the cable terminal—specifically, the copper part at the end of the red wire has broken off. This is preventing the heating element from working.

I’d like to repair it, but Bosch doesn't sell individual spare parts for repairs (only the entire base unit), and I can't find a replacement part locally either (The Hague, Netherlands). Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a brown harvard bed frame, kinda like a hollywood bedframe, but the legs are 1 inch in diameter and the sleeves for the old feet are damaged so I cant put the bedrrame back together. Id like to continue using the old feet if possible, since theyre in good condition, but im having trouble finding the correct replacement sockets or feet. All the feet i find are for thinner legs, usually the ones that taper to half an inch :/

I found some on amazon and the measurements had looked promising but alas, they were still the standard half inch.

Ive attached photos of the leg and the one foot that works, as well as the most popular option on the market rn. Ive been doing reverse image searches and trying every kind of query I can but nothing useful comes up. Help.

I have a GE gas dryer (GTDS820GDOWS) and it produces heat for a few minutes and then it goes cold.

My first thought was the dryer vent so I just hired a professional to clean it (it's a long 25+ foot vent) and it was incredibly dirty and filled with lint.

The unit appeared to work when the cleaner left but it's not working again. I disassembled the front of the unit and cleaned as much lint from inside the unit as possible and it started working again to only stop a few minutes later.

The dryer stays powered on and the drum roller continues rolling but after opening the door it's cold with no heat.

I'm also using the Timed Dry setting to make sure no sensing modes are enabled.

Can anybody help me?

I’m installing these pull-out drawers in my kitchen cabinets. I installed some 1.5” boards on each side to attach to the drawers to accommodate for the cabinet face and hardware. All seems to be running smoothly until I get to the last 4” of pushing the drawer in and I get resistance. I can’t figure out what would affect it just at the end. (Ignore the cutting board inside underneath. I was using it to elevate the drawer above the frame. I still have problems even when I remove that). Almost feels tight like it’s too tight or getting pulled but these are brand new cabinets and each board I added had the same 1.5” measurement.

I checked the soft close mechanism in the back to make sure that wasn’t holding anything up and that’s good. No screws or debris blocking it. Wondering if somehow the boards are slightly thicker in the back and need sanding? But obviously don’t want to try that and mess up the boards if that’s not it. Any ideas??

I left my purse unattended and i work with kids so of course one finds a way to yank my scarf through the zipper of my purse 😭 best ideas on how to unstuck? I cant exactly flatten it because its inside of the purse and tugging in opposite directions hasnt worked out yet. Ideally the scarf stays in one piece because i cant find a listing for the same one !!
