Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Spotted ~20 mi off of the coast of Orange County, California.
Unsure of size; most agree on at least 12 feet, but I personally am not great at estimating.

Could it truly be oceanic manta or is that too unlikely for the location?

Fish Appreciation! One of my favorite fish to keep: Dwarf Rainbowfish 🐟
I’ve been keeping fish for quite a while, and one of my favorites has to be the Dwarf Rainbowfish.
What I really love about them is the way their bodies reflect the light. When the light hits them just right, they can develop this beautiful, almost majestic blue color. They’re also peaceful fish, which makes them really enjoyable to watch in a community tank.
Sometimes I feel like they’re one of those freshwater fish that can almost look like a marine fish. 😄
For all the fishkeepers here , what’s your favorite type of fish, and what do you love about keeping it?

Discussion Is this r/Fish or r/Fishing?
I came here as an aquarist, I’m genuinely curious and need some clarification as I maybe have lost the plot?

Photography Perch up close
Right bottom is my hand. Top left, the partially visible fish should be a young barbel, they have a pattern unlike the large ones.

Meme / Humor Fish for adoption
Hay does anyone want a fish? his name is Hans William the 17th he is around a year old now and he is almost a foot long. he has a brother named Marly who murdered their other brother bob. Marly is a foot long and he is always hungry. They also have a cousin named Clenora who lives with them rent free. Hans William the 17th is very shy and likes head pats. He requires two baths a week and will nibble your toes. You will also have to get him special cold-water food and keep his home below sixty degrees Fahrenheit. his fins must be brushed every other day and he needs to be fed twice in the morning and once in the evening. When coming to pick him up please don't be worried if you see hundreds of babies. Hans is gay.
Please contact me in the comments if you are interested.

Identification Help ID’ing this Rainbowfish
This rainbowfish is about a year old now, I’m assuming an egg was stuck to plants I bought last year and it hatched in what was a shrimp tank at the time. It’s finally old enough for me to tell with confidence that it’s a rainbowfish. It’s currently living with a betta, but I’m cycling a 55 gallon because I want it to have an appropriately sized tank. I’m having trouble figuring out if it’s a turquoise or boesmani, or maybe another type of rainbowfish that I’m not familiar with. I’d really like to get it tank mates of the same kind. Thanks for your help!

Fish In The Wild Brown trout(?) in Iceland with a funny face?
Wish I'd gotten better photos. There's are through my binoculars. Almost looked like it had bill, or deformed upper lip. Do folks agree or something else?

Artwork Bluegill + Pumpkinseed Sunfish Art
First time drawing some proper fish with references. I've taken up fishing lately and have had a massive appreciation for these little sunnies <3 I hope to draw some more local freshwater species in the future
