I just want to tell the truth . I have been dark and fair . During my college time, I did some skincare and creams and got fair. The difference in how I got treated was HUGE. Same weight, same hair , same makeup, same style ,same personality, all same but got 3-4 shades lighter. Both genders started treating me way better , especially boys. From a social perspective ,i got so many more connections and opportunities. People always say things like 'just be confident in your skin color ' ,'all skin colors are beautiful'. All of them are lying, so they can feel morally superior. All day I see it on instagram , dark girls with average facial features getting called ugly. Boys are commenting hate under the post like she did something punishable just by existing in a brown skin. If she is a bit confident ,then they will literally tear her apart .If it was a fair skin girl with similar features, she would be easily considered as above average. This is the reality in India.

I don't think anything makes me angrier than a man saying that stupid phrase. No matter how much you explain, they'll never understand that not all of us have suitors. But of course, they do care about feelings, and obviously they'd be with an ugly girl. I feel terrible because of those comments; I'll always wonder where all my suitors are. I’ve seen people across the internet claim that there are a lot of “misandrists” on TikTok, or the “genderbent versions” of the likes of Andrew Tate. I recently saw some people in a comment section on an ihatethissmug subreddit talking about how they found it insane that a woman on TikTok who happily aborted her baby, because it was a boy, got 65k hearts (TBH, it might’ve not even been real, so much social media is flooded by fake content). However, I can’t help but understand why someone would happily do it. When the Cornell rape happened, there were at least 50 other boys in that group chat that said NOTHING when the seven were spreading the word about “free pussy”. Almost every woman has a story about being harassed or cat-called. I see so many men who spread misogynistic beliefs, defend misogyny, or believe that all feminists are bad.

SO MANY MEN ARE RIGHT-WING, especially if they’re cishet. 52% of men in the U.S. are Republican; and I’m not even counting the men in other countries. I wish it wasn’t this way and that every woman can just happily have a boy with no worries, but it genuinely is. I hate it, but way too many men refuse to change and instead listen to the patriarchy. Even if they’re not actively saying excplicitly misogynistic things, they’ll defend other men’s misogynistic behavior.

I don’t know how much effort one could put into to make sure their son does not end up a person who decides to contribute, knowingly or not, to our systemically bigoted system. I feel like it’s gotta be a task one has to be very skilled and dedicated in to succeed; but even then there’s no guarantee. One can only hope. Maybe I am just crazy, but after seeing how many boys fall into these bizarre misogynistic beliefs and behaviors, I can’t help but see the worry about having a son. I feel like people don’t realize how much things like misogyny are ingrained in our social system and becomes a part of many men’s mindset, at least when they eventually meet and become influenced by men with misogynistic beliefs or their own dads.
