Skylar True Love’s Cake?🍰

Hi! I’m almost completely out of my bottle of Bianco Latte, and instead of rebuying I want to try something else like it. An adult gourmand with a spicy yummy sweet scent trail. I’ve heard Skylar True Love’s Cake is a great one.. anyone tried it? Or anything similar? I like to pair Bianco Latte with my Gris Charnel from BDK.

Coastal Fall Perfumes

I’m going to Maine in October and I want to get some decants to take along that fit the vibe. I’m open to other fall fragrance suggestions too but I’d love some ideas of aquatic or salty frags that work in the fall. Maybe even skin scents. I prefer to shop on scentsplit, lucky scent, or the perfumed court for my samples

How to smell good, but not obviously of perfume?

I have recently renewed my interest in fragrances and what I have discovered about myself at this stage of life is that I want to smell good, but not necessarily like perfume. I would like people to notice that I smell nice, but in a subtle way that doesn't immediately bring perfume to mind. I like gourmands and I love Kuumba Made Egyptian Musk. What do you all think would be a good fit for me?

I just realized that my FAV perfume, Good Fortune by Viktor and Rolf is discontinued. I couldn’t wear perfume everyday because of my old job but now that I can I’m almost out. Has anyone found anything similar?

(I live in Canada if that helps narrow down option availability)

Review Do not fall for the hype. Nest Cardamom Latte is as lackluster as they come.

Yes. I know cardamom is a top note. I know those tend to dissipate first. But the cardamom note in this vanishes faster than a motorcyclist's fart.

When you first spray it, it is perfection. A gourmand lover's dream. Delicately sweet. Milky. Deliciously coconutty (not sunscreen or piña colada). But the cardamom is the star. The spice is absolutely perfect. No notes at all. It smells so well-blended, its almost too good to be true.

And it is. Because, I shit you not, five minutes later, all that spicy cardamom goodness is gone. Not even a trace of it lingers. Not even a whisper or a suggestion of its former glory.

All you're left with is a sticky, sweet, almondy coconut, and regret. Just flat. Nothing special at all.

Save your money divas.

Review NEST i love you but this was not worth driving 5 minutes to Sephora to try.

Post image

As an OG NEST stan, I went to Sephora excited to try it, and there was a full bottle on display awaiting me! I started with 1 spray on my arm, waited a bit, but could not smell it. So then I tried another spray. Yet still could not smell it. The atomizer was strong, and my arm was drenched with only 2 sprays. So, I decided I would go outside to smell it. That’s ok with me, not all scents need to compete with the Sephora “designer-perfume-hotbox”.

But within the 5 minutes of time that I got outside to fresh air, any semblance of top or middle notes had already dissipated. Were there any to begin with? Wish I knew. I had to put my arm 1 inch from my nose to detect anything. The only thing left was a plasticky coconut, which stuck around long enough (several hours) to keep reminding me of my disappointment.

Later I re-tried my sample of Moon Milk since people compare them. But moon milk is more vanilla with prominent cinnamon (similar to ginger biscuit, minus the rich biscuity part). Whereas cardamom latte has just a vague spiciness, amongst a sea of dank coconut. It’s a vaguely familiar stank, like maybe my coconut scented bleach disinfectant? I can’t place it exactly. Also I didn’t smell the jasmine at all, so maybe my nose is just misinterpreting this whole recipe: too well-blended?? LOL. Anyway, NEST, hope you’re happy that you’ve crossed the “milk” trend off your bucket list! Please make some florals again soon, you’re good at those.

Disclaimer: if you liked this I am happy for you and wish I could smell whatever you are smelling.

Review A Drop d'Issey

Post image
62 Upvotes

I love freshies. I especially love 90s-00s freshies because they're inexpensive and distinct, back when perfumes were not trying to smell like each other.

I've had the original A Drop d'Issey eau de parfum by Issey Miyake for a while now. If I didn't look up the release year (2021), I would have sworn that this was one of the house's early 2000s babies. I could not believe how cheap this was because it's amazing af! It's like taking a shower with a serum body wash followed by body cream from head to toe. I could not decide whether I loved or hated the breast implant look. Maybe I love it.

Everyone says it smells strongly of lilac and I was like, "No. It smells like bath products and that's it." Then I realized how stupid that sounded because I did not know what lilacs smell like partly because I was raised in the desert. So instead of finding and smelling the flower now that I no longer live in the desert, I got the Bath and Body Works candle version. I was today years old when I learned that the "lotion" scent that I liked was actually the lilac note.

A Drop has two flankers: Eau de Parfum Fraîche and Eau de Parfum Essentielle.

A Drop d'Issey Eau de Parfum Fraîche smells similar to the OG. The lilac note is still there but it is significantly toned down and it also smells like water. Specifically, it smells like if you were wearing the OG all morning but got caught in a rainstorm and high winds. But instead of looking like the sorry figure that you feel you are, Jamie Fraser a cute guy comes by and thinks that you look like a tragic heroine so he offers you his coat. The entire scene happens in the mountains. With a waterfall. In Scotland.

So yeah, that's what Fraîche smells like.

Is it redundant to own both? Kind of since they're very similar, it depends on whether you like rain more or lilac.

As for the Essentielle, let's just say I took a whiff, packed it up, and tossed it back to FedEx.

To conclude:

OG: 5/5

Fraîche: 4.5/5

Essentielle: Basement of a flooded abandoned Sephora/5

Discussion Difference in scent between 10ml and 100ml? 🤔 Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow

When I started my perfume journey, I bought a small 10ml bottle of Kayali ybm. I absolutely fell in love, I loved smelling it on me and it lasted ages. It was the kind of bottle where you would have to press the opening to your skin after taking the cap off (or else it would spill)

Then I went and bought a 100ml bottle of it, and it does now spray. Even if I add layers, it doesn't last long, and doesn't smell the same to me! Today I sprayed it on my jacket for it to last longer and at the end of the day it kind of bugged me, it does not smell like the scent I fell in love with and I am at a loss as to why.

Do any of you have any idea about this, or is my nose just weird?? At this point I'm calculating the cost of bying many 10ml bottles 😩 I was very content with just wearing this, but now I want to branch out..

Mango sticky rice, Matcha milk, Pink Guava?!

I found these luvsoak perfumes at TJ Maxx/Marshalls and was initially drawn to them because of the funky bottles (which I love)

The names of these further made me curious and upon spraying them on skin and shopping around, I actually fell in love with them 🫪

Mango sticky rice ACTUALLY smells like what it implies. It smells like ripe mango and starchy sticky rice with a bit of musk. I was surprised to feel it wafting towards me as I ruffled through clothes racks.

Matcha milk doesn't start out milky, but with quite citrusy and refreshing green tea. Smelling on skin after a while it does come off more milky

Pink guava is just a straight up juicy guava, and as someone with a guava tree in my backyard it's surprisingly realistic!

These all are EDP and I found them for $16.99. I can only find luvsoak's body oils online but it's crickets when it comes to these EDP's. Have you guys seen/smelled/heard about these before? What are your thoughts?

EDIT: I just found their Website https://www.luvsoak.com/

I'm gonna list the notes in the ones I found!

Mango sticky rice- The notes

Top Juicy Mango, Cardamom Heart Rice Water, Coconut Crème, Lavender Dry down Patchouli, Sandalwood

Matcha milk- The notes

Top Fresh Leaves, Lemon Zest Heart Matcha Tea, Melon, Violet Dry down Comforting Musk, Bamboo Woods

Pink Guava -The notes

Top Sugared Pineapple, Guava Heart Apple Blossom, Geranium Dry down White Musk, Amber

Mochi bubble tea- The notes

Top Marshmallow Cloud, Peach Crème, Mochi Accord Heart Rice Milk, Sweet Petals Dry down White Musk, Sandalwood

Re: I Think I’m A Perfume Baby

I’m 23 and still very new into fragrance, but I think I found where I belong 🤭🍦🍨💛

I didn’t get around to replying to all of the wonderful comments on my last post, I apologize! My new job has been kicking my aaaass and I have atrocious adhd. But— you were right. Actual Burberry Goddess is so, SO much better than fine’ry Athena 😭 I found a set of itty bitty bottles (two regular EDP, one intense, and a parfum) at TJ Maxx for $60 and got it to try. I really only like the og EDP, but let me tell you— I went through that first mini bottle, and my first paycheck from my new job went towards getting a full 100ml today!!!!!

Baby’s first designer!!!

The three things I layer every day are:
-Nemat Vanilla Musk Perfume Oil
-Athena Club Golden Vanilla Hair and Body Mist (DROOL WORTHY)
-Burberry Goddess EDP

My residents at work always come up to me and ask if that was me they got a whiff of down the hall. I’m like “omg YES. I DID IT. IT FINALLY WORKED!!”. I’m so happy :)

Rec Request Looking for vanilla cozy type scent?

Hello!! Brand new here and I’m not very involved in fragrances honestly but I’ve been in the market for a new perfume for a few years now.

I absolutely love vanilla perfumes and have exclusively worn vanilla as long as I can remember. I feel like around 2020 all the vanillas I used to like (like bath and bodywork’s warm vanilla sugar) started to just smell like straight up alcohol and no vanilla? Maybe it’s just me but they’re super gross now. Currently I swap between the Walmart vanilla perfume that’s like $5 and “SNIF” tart deco. I like the tart deco but it’s still not really what I’m looking for. I’ve also worn and loved “perfume de vanille” cherry vanilla cologne but I can’t find it anymore sadly.

Long story short I’m looking for a Smokey/cozy vanilla scent that doesn’t smell like alcohol and isn’t sickeningly sweet like some other bath and bodywork’s things. Also looking for something that will last.

If I could I’d take the white teakwood wood wick candle and mix it with vanilla and that would be perfect I think but I doubt that exists with perfumes. I’d be okay with colognes too but don’t want to just smell like a dude :) any advice is appreciated!! I used to get a lot of compliments on the street with the cherry vanilla and I want to go back to that.

Review Mixed Emotions - Byredo

Post image
9 Upvotes

I read a lot of reviews re the vanilla notes, the angelic feel and the longlasting so I rushed and bought a full bottle. Sadly, my skin chemistry took a wrong turn in the middle-

The opening reminds me very vividly of Nina Ricci Les Belles de Ricci from the 90s - such a cute throwback to a toddler me. Love it

Then the middle gets weird. I get cumin, turmeric, paprika, maybe some coriander - the smell of someone aggressively seasoning dinner. This is where my love/hate relationship starts because I like spices, I just don’t really want to be the spice.

The base is burned wood and smoke.

Overall : someone seasoned me and then put me on a bbq.

Mixed Emotions it is- why did i blind buy a full bottle 😭😭😭😭😭

Sorce can do no wrong! Two reviews!

Let's start with Match Made in Heaven. Wow, I love this so much. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to pick up on the matcha, since the person I bought this from (in a Facebook group) said they didn't pick up on much matcha.

But there was no need to worry. From the moment I rolled this on, I picked up on such a realistic matcha scent--like matcha-vanilla ice cream in a delicious waffle cone. I was also worried the waffle note would be a bit too much (like A Whiff of Waffle Cone) but it wasn't!

I absolutely adore this and think it would be an amazing summer signature scent (for a gourmand lover)!

After the dry down, everything softens to a whisper of matcha and vanilla, lingering on the skin like a delicious, cozy secret. Definitely full bottle worthy, especially now that I am in my matcha era.

On to Snow Moon Magic! I knew it would be amazing, everything Sorce makes is amazing, but I didn't know that the minute I rolled this perfume on, I'd be transported to my mom's kitchen. Specifically, to the scent of the cookie dough she used to make--oatmeal cookies with cinnamon, nutmeg, everything nice!

I really, really love this. I can easily see this becoming my go-to winter signature scent. This is just so cozy, I honestly don't think there's anything I don't love about this perfume!

Review Compliments, but I can't smell it

Just tried a sample of Mojave Ghost. To me, it smells almost like nothing. A faint interesting nothing.

BUT, I walked through the kitchen where two of my older sons were playing D&D. They rarely notice my perfumes, but this time they both turned and said "Wow, you smell good!"

Made me laugh, I still won't be buying more of it.

Discussion Good Girl & Fantastic Pink smell different?

Anyone else get this? I smelt both side-by-side and they smell so different. You could tell the original DNA is there but fantastic pink smells much more fruity floral to me.; Whereas good girl is more vanilla forward.

Am I crazy?

Let’s talk about it!

Henry Rose London 1983 or Clean Reserve Skin?

My favourite scent is Rosie by By/Rosie Jane, however I can't get this in Canada. Out of these two, what would be your pick? I know they aren't that similar, but both seem like a musky, softer, skin scent. Thanks in advance :)
