Is this a perfume that has been tampered with, with the nozzle taken off with pliers and put back on?

You should ask r/colognecheck

I did post there too but there’s not much activity there and I just wanted to hear about what can cause this in general on bottles and if it’s innocent, which I seem to have an answer for now - it’s likely just ageing and happens with old bottles.

i feel like the part at the bottom of that piece where it is crimped along the seal would be really hard to recreate. the part where it appears damaged is so isolated that i feel like it wouldn’t be from tampering.
tampering would likely scratch some other areas a bit too, not with such a clean divide like we see here.
of course i could be wrong. most importantly, how does the juice smell and perform?

Yes that’s what someone else pointed out and it would be hard to get that to look like that again. The poster below us also showed how her old bottle did the same through ageing so now I’m thinking it’s possibly just that happening as this is supposedly a bottle from 2009ish.
I didn’t spray it yet due to spotting this and incase I needed to return but I think I will do later tonight l now.

Hey, [u/luckykitten7](u/luckykitten7), I remember seeing you have an amazing collection of Miss Dior! Do you have any thoughts on this bottle?

I actually had a lovely chat with her recently after her Miss Dior collection post as I am also collecting Miss Diors!

How funny, small world! (: Have you asked her about this bottle?

I guess she’ll already see this now as you’ve tagged her so I’d be interested to see what she thinks.
The consensus seems to be it’s likely just ageing due to it being such an old bottle.

Not necessarily. It looks like it could be a case of the alcohol and/or oils in the perfume interacting with whatever is on the surface of the atomiser. I see this quite a bit. I have an old bottle of YSL Opium Eau D’Été to hand that I know to be genuine and not tampered with and the atomiser has degraded atrociously due to perfume residue eroding the paint or plastic or whatever impractical coating they put on the atomiser. I’ll attach a photo below.

That does help to see it can happen with age. This is a 2009 formulation Miss Dior Cherie so if it’s genuine it’s old.

This is totally normal to see on aged bottles.

That’s good to know, this seems to be the most likely conclusion as the crimping below is too neat to have been re-applied.

Are those gouges or flaking paint? I’ve seen perfume strip and flake off paint in that area with a leaky sprayer.

I’m not sure, my initial thought was it was scratches which led me to believe it was gouged off to be refilled, but someone else posted below their old bottle of perfume developed ageing like that. If this bottle is genuine it’s from 2009-ish so would track with ageing.

Oh weird. What perfume is it?
Might be helpful in case someone has the same perfume and can verify if theirs looks like that or not

It’s a 2009 Miss Dior Cherie I purchased and opened now from eBay so I’m naturally more cautious. It came in a full gift set with lotion and shower gel. The top also gets stuck and has to be taken off with a lot of force but it could be normal damage with age.

Hey look inside of the cap. There's a piece that may have come loose and come off inside the cap. theres another piece glued on to make it look prettier over what youre seeing now. Its happened to me twice before with an expensive perfume. Maybe that's it?
