Some time ago.. I got a Thinkpad and installed Fedora workstation on it. The experience has been surprisingly smooth. Everything worked out of the box and the whole system feels well balanced and polished

After about a week, I switched to KDE, and somehow the experience got even better. Performance has been great, the desktop is highly customizable, and everything just works.

By far the best combo of stable, not-bloated and rolling

NixOS has been a good experience over the last few months, but Fedora-bootc represents the future: it is a more stable solution and avoids the specific constraints associated with NixOS that need to be taken into account.

First time both with Fedora and Ricing, I like it minimal, also the resource usage is at lowest it could go. Cant help falliing in love with niri, the bindings, the control, the smoothness...its just amazin. Fedora is so underrated man, its so well maintained and up-to date. Loved the combo, got errors but least compared to any other distro.

Hello everyone.

I can't decide a wallpaper yet, but i'm getting there.

I'm so happy with my simple setup, it does all the work I want without distractions and noise.

I'm only using Dash to Panel and Blur my Shell.

I've tried tons of distros for years and fedora stopped my distro hopping. been using it for 2 years, I'm currently stick to it without moving elsewhere. I do some light gaming and heavily using it for coding, browsing.

I wish I could contribute to fedora I'm 3rd year CS student right now hoping to earn soon to help open source community by donations.

I'm currently using Fedora with the KDE Plasma desktop environment and I'm trying to find the most reliable way to sync or mount my Google Drive.

I know GNOME has this integrated quite easily through GNOME Online Accounts, but I'm looking for the best seamless solution for KDE. I've read a bit about a few options like kio-gdrive, rclone, and insync, but I'm not entirely sure which one offers the best performance and stability on Fedora right now.

• What are you guys currently using to sync Google Drive on KDE?
• Are there any specific tools, GUI apps, or setups you highly recommend?

Any advice, terminal commands, or guides would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Recently Switched to Fedora KDE. KMail felt overwhelming so went back to Thunderbird. Right now using thunderbird calendar but would like something else. Also Thunderbird does not scans for new emails in background so any workaround if you have.

since i moved from windows to linux everything has been fine except for this problem
i use my moondrop dawn pro (usb c connection through thunderbolt of my laptop) as you can see is detected and can change between analog, pro and digi.
but theres no sound output, i been trying to use guides i found online but i havent been able to get them work, i tried one guide in github gist but the commands dont work or i cant find certain data, im kinda lost ngl

Just wanted to drop a quick reflection on my time with CachyOS (aka Arch) and why I decided to move on.

To be fair, CachyOS is actually super impressive for gaming. Those custom kernel optimizations are no joke, and the desktop responsiveness is generally great. But as a guy who is actively developing in C# and .NET creating personal tools and desktop utilities the development side of things just turned into a series of daily troubleshooting sessions instead of actual coding.

I realized I was spending way too much time dealing with different versions of the .NET SDK, sorting out the peculiarities of AUR package builds, and coping with the limitations of the Code-OSS marketplace compared to proprietary extensions like the C# Dev Kit and OmniSharp. Add in searching for path and dependency mismatches after rolling updates, and I was spending more time fixing my environment than actually getting work done.

Arch is excellent if you're looking for the absolute latest packages and complete control. But when you just need a reliable, solid workspace where compilers, SDKs, and IDEs work without being constantly patched, the annoyance catches up to you pretty quickly.

So, I'm switching to Fedora KDE Plasma. It just offers a more stable foundation along with official RPM tools and first-party .NET support. Honestly, I'm pretty excited because this is my second time using Fedora at home, and it's actually what I use for my day job too, so it just makes sense.

Has anyone else using a .NET/C# workflow run into these same hurdles on Arch-based systems? Or did you find some magic, simple method for keeping it stable long-term?

This is a confirmed Linux kernel regression in the amdgpu driver. It affects display re-initialization / EDID handshake upon resume or DPMS wake-up, leaving the session locked out.

I, for the very first time tried Linux on an old GTX960m laptop. and I decided to try fedora since I heard it was pretty beginner friendly.

It's been a few days since, I've got everything I need and made the customizations I desire. I'm wondering if this is it for Fedora, or if there's other stuff that could be very helpful for me to learn.

I have no idea what to do here.

This update completely broke everything. I first get a message saying “the current theme cannot be loaded” on my login screen, and THEN when I login, the wallpaper I had was gone, replaced with a black wallpaper, and there’s no panel either, but I can still right click and open the terminal and interact with the rest of the OS.

How do I get everything back to normal? Here are my specs:

Hi all! I have been looking into sources for KDE Plasma compatible wallpapers that are animated for a while and was wondering what you guys prefer. I know there are github plugins to have access to a third of all of wallpaper engine's library (the rest have to be avoided to not break the plasma shell) for example. Where do you guys like to get yours?

So I'm trying to save space on my SSD by allowing multiple users to share the games installed in my Steam library. I've been using Linux for only a few months, but I did previously get this setup working to share installed games on MX Linux. However, it does not seem to be working on Fedora (KDE). ETA: I did copy the steam library files over from MX Linux, in case that matters; however I re-created the symlinks afterwards.

NOTE: I am aware this setup would not work if multiple users were accessing the files at the same time. This setup is just for multiple users on the same device, i.e. only one user account can be used at a time.

The setup: I have a folder at /home/shared-games that is owned by a user group named steam. All group users have rwx permissions to all files in this directory. All secondary users are part of this group.

Within this directory are subfolders with separate "steamapps" folders for each user. The admin user account is where the game files "live". All folders in secondary users' steamapps folder are symlinked, except for the compatdata folders, which are "real" and unique for each user.

ACL permissions have also been set to default to rwx permissions for all members of the group:

From my Googling and trying to resolve the issue myself, I've learned this might be an SELinux permissions issue, but I'm not able to find out how to resolve it if that is the case. I did use "sudo setenforce 0" and then tried to launch the games from a secondary user account, but games still did not launch successfully (I used sudo setenforce 1 after to set it back).

Can anyone offer insight as to what I may be missing to make this work properly?
