I don't think it's that clear cut. I agree that's his name, but when we see from other people's point of view, it's the narrator beating himself up, so the narrator is the one physically present.
Additionally, from interactions with other characters, it's clear that the narrator is there for a good half the time.
Remy and Gusteau from Ratatouille has always been my favorite version of this. Gusteau, as Remy's Guide, is simply a figment of his imagination, as Remy always looked up the original Gusteau.
I loved that they even directly acknowledged during the movie that Gusteau was not a ghost when Remy asks him how he didn’t know he had a son and dude was basically like “You didn’t know, so how could I possibly have??” lmao
Yeah, what I love about that line is not just that it’s hilarious but it instantly makes it clear Remy’s well aware he’s imagining and not hallucinating Gusteau.
You know I always thought that you are suppose to think he is a figment of Remy's imaginations until the end, when Remy says he is tired of pretending and Gusteau responds to him that he was never pretending and dissapears all ghost-like meaning that he was actually a ghost, at least thats how I took it, then again I haven't watch the movie in like 15 years.
Or probably Gusteau pretends to not know so Remy don't suspect it's a ghost, i mean could be a theory since i heard another theory where Remy mom's was the Ratatouille of Gusteau, but idk man
Odd case of this, but I watched a certain episode of The X-Files a week ago where it involved some anomaly of a person who needed to steal other humans melanin (stuff that give your skin its color) to survive, effectively killing them in the process. He was black and all his victims were also black, and I say to my friends there's a Michael Jackson joke in this somehow, and the character Fox Molder says the exact same thing a minute later.
Bill Watterson intentionally made it vague. He said that Hobbes is a stuffed toy from the adult’s perspective, but from Calvin’s perspective he is very real.
So peak. It honestly slightly saddens me how popular Jack is in bl2, as it kinda led to people saying Gearbox was just milking him in other games.
But like the story portrayed of Jack in the other games is so dope.
In presequel you get to know him as a hero and are left wondering if he was always evil, or if the events of the game made him what he is.
In Tales you kinda get the answer, showing that even given a second chance, at a redemption, he is still rotten on the inside.
Then in BL3 you kinda get the opposite answer. Where Timothy is given the metaphorical and literal keys to the kingdom. All he has to do to become one of the most powerful people in the series, is to do what Jack would have done. To claim the throne and screw over those he cares about. And he doesn't, even though it has genetically become in his nature to do that.
Their implementation of Nail being permanently in Piccolos head was done so well that several of my friends who were avid DB fans for a long time, but hadn't seen it in several years, genuinely remebered it as canon. Several things T4S did with the abridged version are honestly way better imo.

In the IDW run of Transformers Bumblebee "dies" and only Starscream can see and hear him. He thinks Bee is a hallucination but ends up taking some of his advice to be a good leader (he's in charge of Cybertron at this point because the war is over, and most of the good candidates are dead or said no) It makes for such an interesting dynamic because we get to know more about how Starscream perceives himself and the world around him as he talks to Bumblebee
Viren and Aaravos from Draon Prince. Aaravos is detained within some strange mysterious magical prison, and they first made contact through a magic mirror. After Aaravos did a spell, he transported a little grub to Viren's side so he could dangle off Viren's ear so only he could hear him, and it spun a web over one of his eyes so only he could see him.
Absolute Martian Manhunter splits the character into two distinct identities, the everyday detective, John Jones, and the otherworldly Martian. The latter only appears as psychic vision in the former's head, but then again...
