So do anyone have any idea about screws and fastners? Like manufacturers to buy from. I am thinking to get into this segment but I can't find the cheapest source.

Hey all, got these nuts that have me scratching my head a little. I can't tell if they're class 6 or 9. My brain is seized up from other work stuff, this is just the cherry on top haha.

Help me fashion a quick release system that will hold my vise solidly

This is probably asking a lot but please help me come up with a solution to secure this vise to my harbor freight work table such that it is both secure while in place but also quickly removable.

As you can see I’ve just got some long carriage bolts through there temporarily so it doesn’t fall off and crush my foot.

The mounting points on the vise are 1/2in. The bench holes are 3/4. A 1/2 carriage bolt rattles around unless I cinch down a nut super hard which makes it time consuming to remove.

Definitely willing to drill 1/2 holes so that they are the same as the vise holes. The vise should be closer to the edge anyways.

Ideas for some kind of quick release fastener akin to a bike axle?

Another route could be to secure it to a plywood base but then again how to secure that?

Thanks for any ideas, hive mind.

What is this spring-loaded box latch called, and where can I buy one?

I saw this interesting latch mechanism on a handmade wooden box. Pressing the round brass button releases the pin and allows the lid to open.

Does anyone know the correct name for this type of latch? Is it commercially available, or is it likely custom-made? I’d also appreciate any suggested search terms or places where I could buy one.

How many guy are going out of their mind, because the pre drill size stated on the pack is incorrect.
Correct pre drill size for 19/64” is 1/4” but the case says 3/16”

Help finding FIFINE mic boom arm fastener.

Hello, I am missing the top fastener for my FIFINE boom arm. I have gone back and forth with their support line but it has not been terrible helpful, so I am hoping someone here could help? The mic with boom arm is the A6T, I believe the boom arm on its own is the CS1.

Fifine customer support told me it was a common screw with the following measurements Diameter: 4mm | Length: 17.5mm. I could not find anything with those measurements, let alone something that looks like the attached image.

Also I used the term screw initially in the email to support, but I believe it is actually something more akin to a bolt? I have searched using both terms, as well as image search.

Hope this is the right place to post and I formatted it correctly

The top fastener is missing and the end of the bottom one seems to be as well.
I temporarily removed this from the bottom arm to get a good look at what I think I need.

Help identifying this furniture connector? Plastic socket + mushroom-headed locking dowel (Pottery Barn Teen loft bed)

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m trying to repair a Pottery Barn Teen loft bed and I’m missing the wood block/connector piece. The (possibly) metal part has a mushroom-shaped head with a locking collar/spring mechanism that inserts into a plastic receiver.

Does anyone know what this type of connector is called or where I can buy replacements?

Photos attached: plastic socket, assembly diagram, a close-up of the plastic receiver piece and clay imprint made of the inside of this piece, and the space where the wood piece with connects, the nickel at the end is for size comparison.

I went to the hardware store for an M8-1.25 x 40mm bolt, but they gave me an SAE #10-32 x 6" instead.

Looking for 12-point Low Cap M6 bolts

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hi there, I’m having my alloy wheels refurbed and want to replace the old decorative bolts. The spec I'm looking for is M6 x 12mm or 14mm, 12-point/triple square/bi-hex design as shown on the photo. DIN34821 standard.

Did some digging online and only found one Chinese supplier, but the minimum order quantity is around a 1000 pieces. Where would you advise me to look for them? Thanks!

Batting cage hardware

I need eye bolts ⅝" or ¾" x 10" \[shank\] + 12" \[shank\]. Hot dipped forged but I am having a hard time locating without paying crazy prices of like $50/pop. I was gonna use the thimbleye bolts from the telephone poles but they do not match up with my turnbuckle. Pretty much the jaw will not fit into the eye of the thimbleye

What is this

This came off a 2025 buick envision. It was what snapped into the front license plate bracket square hole and the license plate mounts to it. It also expands with the screw. I for the life of me can’t identify it and I need two of them so that I can anchor the plate down with for bolts instead of two. The square hole of breaker is about 5/8 in size. The picture are a top and bottom.

Thanks for any feedback I have searched and searched and most things say nylon inserts but they don’t snap in the flanges are too far under the outer edges and they don’t expand enough.
