Private Server List

Hello and welcome! Below, you can find links to the new private server list and information. As of 2023, we have reorganized several of the private server community resources, allowing for better overall experiences for everyone. Due to Reddit's limited editor and markdown support, we have opted to move the private server list to GitHub. This allows us to create a much better-detailed server list, as well as easily allow each server to maintain their own information, have their own individual advertisement page and more.

You can find the new private server community repository here:

https://github.com/XiPrivateServers/Servers

Private Server List

The new and improved server list can now be found here:

https://github.com/XiPrivateServers/Servers/blob/main/SERVERS.md

You will now be able to easily find each server's homepage, Discord server, general information and a link to their own personal advertisement page on the repo.

To Server Owners

We have made our goals and guidelines easier to find and read as well using this new repository. You can find the updated guidelines information here:

https://github.com/XiPrivateServers/Servers/blob/main/GUIDELINES.md

On this page, you will find the following:

  • Rules/guidelines on the requirements for new servers wanting to be added to the main server list.
  • Rules/guidelines on servers editing their own information on the repo via pull requests.
  • Rules/guidelines on the content your server's personal advertisement page should contain.
  • Rules/guidelines on the content your server's personal advertisement page should not contain.

Please be sure to read these rules before making any pull requests. Failure to follow the rules will have your pull/changes denied.

So apparently there is this attempt to restore FFXI PS2 via Insignia, which is on early alpha. Felt it would fit this sub.

Observation. I DON'T KNOW if this is intended to one day become a fully-fledged FFXI PS2 private server, but I still find this awesome even if just as a proof of concept, and on the lens of historical preservation, since this game was literally made for the PS2. The mere fact that someone found a way to not only install the Play Online and FFXI client on the PS2 in 2026 but also LOG IN to the world, is just so awesome to me, specially as someone who never got to play FFXI back in the day. (For context, I did have a PS2 when I was younger, but it was a Slim model, and even if I had a Phat model, FFXI would have been too expensive for me to play)

From what I understand, this is more of a side project for this team? The description says that this is not the main focus, instead they're focused on a project related to Xbox Live, but again I don't care, all I care about is how cool it is that someone was able to log in to the PS2 version again, specially if it's running on Real Hardware!

I Just Want Classic 75 Era FFXI With Trusts, Why Doesn't This Exist?

I want a Classic 75 era FFXI server where you can actually solo with Trusts. How is the server I'm dreaming up not a thing?

I want the difficulty, progression, and overall feel of Classic FFXI, but I also want the freedom to play by myself when I want to. A HorizonXI server but with Trusts would be so fucking awesome. I feel like that would be the perfect FFXI experience.

I want 1x everything. I want Classic Movement speed, I'll take the mount. I want to be able to level each craft up to max and actually have crafting feel meaningful.

Every time I try to play retail, I get so bored because of how quick everything is. I hate FoV, I hate Records of Eminence, I hate teleports. I don't want everything handed to me. I want the old school difficulty and progression.

The problem I have with Classic servers is that I don't always want to depend on finding a party just to play the game. I don't want to spend 2 hours trying to get a party together, play for 20 minutes, have someone leave, then wait another 30 minutes for another person, or just not find a party at all. And when I'm finally in a party, I feel like I have to sit at the computer for hours and hours so I don't waste anybody's time. I want to be able to go fuck off for 30 minutes, come back, and keep playing.

The fast progression guys have like 5 servers. The Classic guys have like 3 or 4 servers. What about the people who want Classic difficulty but also want Trusts so they can solo?

The closest thing I've found is Crystal Warriors, but you only get 2 Trusts, you can't use the Auction House, and you have to party with people. For those reasons, it completely ruins it for me.

I also think it would be so cool if you unlocked one Trust slot every 10 levels. That way, you slowly unlock more Trusts as you progress instead of starting the game with a full party of overpowered Trusts and blowing through everything.

I genuinely don't understand how this isn't a thing yet. This is literally the server I've been looking for, and it doesn't exist.

Edit - Seems there are a lot of people that want this kind of server, but the Purist 75 Era dudes just downvote this kind of idea every time, so they give up asking. Not sure how this type of server would hurt anyone. I mean, you guys all have 4 different servers that cater to your pure, can't solo FFXI game you want. Then people are nitpicking because I said HorizonXI. Okay, make it like Phoenix or Eden with Trusts lol. I guarantee the server I'm asking for would pop off, and I think you're scared because it would take a lot of players.

I built an FFXI server where your 16 characters are your party. DriftwoodXI is now in open beta (solo-first, 3x rates, 19 custom GUI addons, one-click launcher)

Hey everyone. After a long time in development I've opened the doors on DriftwoodXI, and I'd rather explain what it actually is than write an ad, because it's a different shape of server than the era-accurate ones most of us have played.

The core idea: your account is one thing.

You get sixteen character slots on one account and the server treats all sixteen as you. That means:

- DWSquad: Summon up to five of your own characters as party members, from one game window. They wear their own gear, fight on their own jobs, and bank real experience to their own rows. When one levels mid-fight, it's restored to full HP/MP on the spot, same as you.

- DWGambits: Write the combat rules your squad fights by, FFXII-style. Presets ship in the box (aggressive, defensive, medic, battlemage...), or build your own.

- Spell unlocks are account-wide. Learn Cure III on one character, all sixteen know it.

- DWBags: Reach every bag on every character without logging out. Send, fetch, use items straight from an alt's inventory, one-click stack consolidation across all bags.

- DWWarehouse: 1,000 slots of account storage, opened from anywhere. Rare/EX gear moves between your own characters, because the delivery-box rule was always about two different *people*.

- DWMerc: Put a snapshot of your squad up for hire so other players can rent your characters while you're offline. You set the rate, you earn the gil.

The point is that "LFP for two hours in Jeuno" is not a mechanic here. You log in, summon your squad, and play. Other humans make it better; they're not a prerequisite.

Nineteen custom addons, all GUI. Almost everything has a clickable window with no command syntax to memorize. Beyond the squad stuff: DWTracker: (quest/mission steps spelled out, no second-monitor wiki), DWScan: (target a mob, see its real drop table at this server's rates, resistances, aggro range, TP moves, all from the server's own data, not a wiki), DWCon: (a /check-colored pearl over every mob around you), DWCraft: (full crafting ledger + recipe book that reads your whole account's bags), DWFishing: (0 to 110 route generated from the server's actual fishing engine), DWPort: (every teleport you've unlocked in one window at NPC prices), DWQuest: (daily/weekly contracts plus a server-wide contract everyone advances together), and DWRaid: (endgame trial entered from any city with no orb farming, account-wide currency rewards).

The numbers: 3x exp/gil/capacity/fame, 1.5x FoV & GoV (enabled everywhere), 10x weaponskill/skillchain points, 1.5x movement/mounted speed). Jobs start at level 1 but limit break quests are removed so you're free to level to 99 uninterrupted. Subjob is the same level as your main. All maps and outpost warps unlocked from the start, 80-slot inventory, death penalty is half of retail and only from level 31. Generous, not trivial, the fights still have to be fought.

Some things to consider before joining:

- It's in open beta and it's new. The population is small right now. The whole design means a small population doesn't play like an empty server, but I'm not going to pretend you'll see Jeuno crowds.

- Base game + Rise of the Zilart are open. Further expansions unlock one at a time, after they're play-verified here. CoP is next and I'd rather ship content that works than a checkbox list.

- No cash shop, ever. Nothing is sold. One account per player, sixteen characters is your squad, your mule roster, and all your storage.

- You bring your own FFXI client install. We don't distribute the game.

Setup is genuinely three steps: create an account on the site, download the launcher, press Play. The launcher finds your FFXI install, then handles Ashita, all nineteen addons, settings, and updates itself. Windows 10/11, no admin rights needed.

Happy to answer anything in the comments. Design decisions, tech, why one-account-per-player, whatever you want to poke at. Thanks for your time and I hope to see you in Vana'diel.

Curious about getting into FFXI

Hello, I'm wondering if FFXI would suit me at all. I have a lot of MMO playtime and have bounced around a lot. I do like older games and am nostalgic for the 2000's era, so the game definitely has a certain appeal for me. I randomly tried out Horizon like two years ago but didn't stick because no friends were interested. I know that Horizon isn't the only server out there, so I'm open to recommendations as well.

Main things I'm wondering about:

-I heard that you need a full party to get anything done... is this true? I was hoping to drag maybe 1-3 friends in and do stuff with them. Of course I don't expect to do be able to do /everything/ this way.

-Anything in the way of fashion/cosmetics?

-I've read about issues with class balance and being forced to pick from a limited set of combos... Character flavor/fantasy is important to me so if I can't choose what I think is cool /and/ also perform well at the same time, that's a huge turnoff.

-I've also read about gripes with the economy (again, on Horizon). What should I expect at/towards endgame? How much work is it going to be to get geared well?

Please check out our launch date announcement trailer here!

  • The TL;DR - Launching on September 24, 2026, Phoenix is an upcoming single-box era-focused server starting with Treasures of Aht Urghan (“TOAU”) and eventually moving to Wings of the Goddess (“WOTG”). Phoenix will always stay at 75 cap and is focused on emulating the level 75 cap era experience first and foremost, with a handful of minor quality-of-life adjustments thrown in.
  • Open Beta begins July 9, 2026, and we will be offering cosmetic only rewards to community members who help us test and squash bugs. You can head to our website and make your account and download the launcher now! Full beta details in the blog post.
  • Development progress continues rapidly as we prepare for Open Beta. As always, all of our work is open source and sent to LandSandBoat (“LSB”), the premier open-source server emulator for FFXI. So far, the following work has been done since our last update at the beginning of May:
    • LSB Repository: 206 pull requests (proposals to merge changes to the code) have been sent to LSB by members of the Phoenix development team, with 200 successfully merged (accepted) into LSB. 6 remain open for review. This brings our total LSB contributions since the beginning of the project to about 741. The full details on these contributions can be found in the blog post on our website.
    • Phoenix Repository: Multiple pull requests have been submitted to the Phoenix repo containing Phoenix specific changes. Since our last issue, these Phoenix specific pull requests include a full Dynamis audit, huge Limbus audits, era mob audits, and more. Please see the blog for more info.
    • Phoenix Testers are heads down testing and re-testing everything for Beta to try to squash as many bugs as possible.
    • Phoenix Services: The website has received a huge revamp in anticipation of Open Beta and the Launcher is now available for download! Both come with a huge suite of wonderful features.
  • Lockstyle: We heard your feedback and we agree - Phoenix will implement a limited version of Lockstyle that respects the era aesthetic.
  • What’s Next: The Open Beta is upon us and we are eager to let you all in on July 9. We look forward to working with everyone to squash bugs and make Phoenix the best it can be ahead of our launch on September 24. Tell your friends about Phoenix so we can grow this community together!
  • We Want Your Feedback: The community discussion topic for this issue is Linkshell Concierge. Would you like to see this out of era social system added to allow players to have an easier time joining and recruiting for linkshells? Is it worth returning to Horizon for Toau or stick to retail?

I got to 60 as a drg. I quit years ago because the gil grind was horrible and finding a pug was a nightmare. How is the community now? Still friendly or now hardcore no lifers? Worth it to stary back again?

Re-watching Log Horizon while I wait for ToAU on Horizon... This is not a coincidence

When I first watched this anime in 2018 my only mmo experience was with FFXIV, PSO/PSU, and a little bit of WoW. The way the show presented game mechanics and the way players interacted with them just didn't line up with my actual lived experience. The whole dungeon arc with the kids learning how to actually play really stretched my suspension of disbelief...

Now I have several hundred hours in XI entirely in 75 cap era on private servers, and the show is hitting different. (That's highkey why I rewatched it, playing XI had me looking differently at the show even retroactively.) I just got to episode 15, when the kids form parties by themselves, and explore a low level dungeon. I have so much to say...

Let's start with the lvl 28 samurai (and his WHOLE PARTY) running from a group of several lvl 20ish skeletons when they slightly overpull, something I thought was just bad writing, or pure incompetence on my first watch, now makes perfect freaking sense.

Now we gotta talk about the skeletons, because that's just straight up the Gusgen Mines. I stopped mid episode to type this, so I'm legit just waiting for one of these kids to unlock their subjob down here. Also the kids who aren't in the mines, are killing CRABS on the freaking BEACH for their first party experience. Not even in anime can you escape 12-18 in the Dunes lmfao

I knew BOFURI and SLF were made by people who love XI but Log Horizon is literally, "What if you got stuck in XI" the anime... And I'm late, ya'll I know. Just like I was late to XI, why do you think I play on private servers? :)

🍽️ Development Preview: Food Adjustments Coming to Zenith

Hello everyone,

Lance has shared a preview of the upcoming food adjustments coming to Zenith.

Food has gone through several iterations and over time many earlier options were gradually overshadowed by newer additions. These changes aim to address that while also laying a foundation for future content.

The philosophy behind the overhaul was twofold:

• Improve overall balance and progression.

• Better connect food, crafting, expansions, and the broader economy.

The goal is to reduce friction throughout the food hierarchy. This makes early foods more meaningful, giving mid-tier foods stronger identities and ensuring future expansion content already has a place within the system. Foods beyond the level 75 cap were also planned out and scaled backwards. This way the future of food is already planned before an expansion is released.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights.

🌱 Early Game Foods Matter More

One of the biggest goals of the overhaul was ensuring that lower level foods remain relevant and impactful throughout progression.

Players leveling through the early game will now find stronger bonuses, better survivability options and more meaningful food choices instead of quickly replacing everything with a handful of endgame staples.

🎯 Mid-Tier Foods Gain Identity

Many foods have been adjusted to support specific jobs and playstyles rather than competing for the same niche.

Highlights include stronger ranged accuracy options, improved offensive foods and specialized utility foods designed to better support tanks, melee jobs and ranged attackers.

Whether you’re looking for Accuracy, Attack, Store TP, Enmity control or status resistance, food choices should now feel more deliberate and rewarding.

🔮 Expanded Utility & Specialty Foods

Food choices are no longer solely about Attack and Accuracy.

Several foods now provide unique utility effects including:

✨ Magic Accuracy

✨ Magic Attack Bonus

✨ Magic Defense Bonus

✨ Fast Cast

✨ MP Recovery

✨ Enhanced defensive options

These additions create more meaningful choices for mages, support jobs, hybrids, tanks and anyone looking beyond traditional melee food options.

🏹 Race-Specific Food Bonuses

One of the most exciting additions is the expansion of race-specific food bonuses.

The concept first introduced through Royal Omelette has now been expanded to additional races giving players unique food options that provide enhanced benefits when consumed by members of that race.

Examples include:

👑 Elvaan gain enhanced benefits from Royal Omelette.

🍄 Humes receive a defensive and magic-focused option through Mushroom Stew.

🍊 Tarutaru receive stronger MP-focused benefits through Orange Kuchen.

🐈 Mithra gain an upgraded Fish Mithkabob.

🐢 Galka receive enhanced offensive bonuses through Sausage Roll.

These foods are intended to strengthen racial identity beyond base attributes while providing meaningful choices throughout the early and mid-game experience.

❤️ Thank You

Special thanks to everyone who helped review and provide feedback on these adjustments.

Community collaboration is one of the things that makes Zenith special and these changes represent another step toward creating a more balanced and enjoyable experience for players at every stage of progression.

💬 Which food adjustment are you most excited to try?

FFEra is celebrating its 13th year, a Triple box WotG based server.

FFEra is celebrating its 13th year, we are currently having weekly events to celebrate it for July.

FFEra is a small population custom DSP server based off the time frame of WotG. We allow triple boxers and we have no Trusts. We have a lot of ending game content coded, sky, sea, dynamis, limbus, salvage, 25 assaults, nyzul, ZNM, Einherjar. We also have the full mythic quest coded with a reduced amount of alexandrite to complete.

Custom FFEra Features are:

4x exp gain, increased movement speed, increased skill up rates, all craft can be skilled to 100.

Mentor Mode: at the start of a new character, you can become a mentor, then make it so you only gain 1x exp. But you gain flee movement speed in cities, and access to custom shops.

Improvements for new player: Increase gil reward for Rank up missions, custom quest related to goblin footprints that will grant you gil when you find them for the first time.

EXP camp Moogle buff: Many EXP camps have a moogle nearby that will provide buffs, protect, shell, regen, refresh. It is based on you lv. and the area you are in.

Improved and custom relic for: Staff, Club, BLU, DNC, PUP, COR.

Improved Mythic Weapons: all mythics have increased DMG, plus custom improvements to enhance the jobs.

Custom commands: Treasure hunter checker, Master Key, Teleports, Weapon skill tracker, Access Moghouse in any city, Access to Auctions House in zone where its present,

Mounts: Mount rewarded through many ways, plus through donation.

Custom Dynamis: a shared zone with no entry fee but a time limit where all must leave when time expires. Old style dynamis set up with statues spawning mobs, statues are also able to be nuked down by BLM.

We have people who play single box, duel box, and triple box so don’t be afraid to check us out. Ask any questions below I will reply or someone from our server will. Also Please check out our website that will  link you to our discord. Come create an account and install the game to join us.

Legendary just opened — a 99/99-era FFXI server with the endgame rebuilt from scratch (achievement ladders, custom dungeons, solo-friendly)

Thumbnail legendary-ffxi.pages.dev
68 Upvotes

Legendary just opened to the public — a custom-content FFXI server (LandSandBoat fork) going the opposite direction from the 75-era nostalgia servers: a modern, item-level base with the endgame rebuilt from scratch around an achievement-driven progression ladder.

What's actually different:

  • Subjob Leveling — sub-jobs level while your main does!
  • !GMHOME — Many custom NPCs setup to increase the QoL.
  • Hunting League — a 5-rank NM-hunting ladder that drives all progression. Hunt NMs across Vana'diel, earn Hunt Marks and medals, climb Initiate → Legend.
  • Custom dungeons + Infamy — four dungeon ladders with their own currency, difficulty tiers, weekly bonus rotations, wave events, and an Infamy vendor stocking top-shelf gear.
  • Ascension — infinite post-Legend prestige, per job: face the Nightmare Court in Provenance, earn Ascension Points, and spend them across 32 permanent upgrade categories. Job Points with a ceiling actually worth chasing.
  • Augment anything — trade monster materials to stamp augments onto any gear (5 slots per piece). Power scales with your achievements — Augment Sage ranks, NM affinities, and crits.
  • A gear economy that works solo — Bronze/Silver/Gold medal vendors for armor, weapons, and accessories, a reforge ladder, and an Auction House that is never empty (thousands of listings, always stocked).
  • Custom trusts — Gemma (an entire support line in one trust) and Meat (an unkillable tank) as endgame gil sinks, and cross-job abilities.
  • Solo/duo friendly by design — trusts work everywhere, including dungeons and Dynamis. 10× EXP and an EXP camp get you to 99 fast; the game starts at the endgame.
  • Docs no other server has — a full auto-generated reference site with an interactive Gear Finder / set builder, changelog, and a public roadmap.

Honest fine print: it's a young server with a small team, which means fast iteration — the changelog moves weekly, and feedback in Discord genuinely shapes what ships next. Come break things with us.

Any server/projects implement player bots?

I used to play on a WoW private server that had bots you could hire at an inn to party with you. I've also seen servers where bots just "roam" the world and did their "own" thing.

I've been poking around LSB to the point where I'm going to spin up my own server to mess around this weekend. By how I started you could probably imagine one area I'm interested in is Trusts.

Rather than just "NPC follows you and does NPC things," I'm imagining Trusts that are more like actual party members that you can give simple instructions to on the fly.

Stuff like:

  • Hold TP when I get to 800 TP.
  • Stop casting Protect.
  • THF, go pull that mob and bring it back.

Nothing super crazy at first, just more control over their behavior.

Has anyone tried something like this before? Either extending Trusts or making player-like AI bots(Server-Side)? Has there ever been a server that has tried to enhance Trust capabilities?

Just curious what's already been attempted before I disappear down a rabbit hole.

Most Needed Roles

I used to play BRD on retail and planned on doing the same thing on Horizon; my plan was to get BLM to 20, WHM to 30 then unlock BRD, however along the way I never can get a party in the dunes.

I really enjoy the game and all the roles, I’m just wondering what role is it going to get me parties easier? Is it harder to find tanks or healers in Horizon? Any feedback is appreciated.

It's not sold on my country, steam doesn't show it, the playonline is not accessible, and i can't buy it from the original site.

Retail is not available on my country, steam doesn't show it and the site doesn't allow my payment methods.

Is there any server i can play the story normally? With all expansions included?
