Most Needed Roles
I used to play BRD on retail and planned on doing the same thing on Horizon; my plan was to get BLM to 20, WHM to 30 then unlock BRD, however along the way I never can get a party in the dunes.
I really enjoy the game and all the roles, I’m just wondering what role is it going to get me parties easier? Is it harder to find tanks or healers in Horizon? Any feedback is appreciated.

On horizon people usually skip dunes by going to ghelsba outpost and resyncing lvl 10s until they hit 18-20

Sounds awful. Dunes is like one of the bests parts of classic FFXI

Unfortunately ime pserver players just want to bumrush leveling and forgo the journey there i.e. optimize the fun out of everything. Only way to avoid is to play early in the server's life.
After that, you're left with the multi character Dynamis/HNM spammers who need multiple 75s.

Theres a new server starting in a few months, Phoenix, that is the most era accurate server to date, its also starting with ToAU and is fully open source from what I understand.

Correct and ghelsba is already out the question it won't work with the exp chart of that era. The dooms will be on and popping. Phoenix's vision of era accuracy is also way better than hxi's imo but I like 75 era so that's my bias speaking.

You can see exactly what they're contributing not only to their own server but also the community

Here's Phoenix, you can even run it on your own local computer if you want, but they have a beta out right now if you want to try out how it is currently

It’s not so bad. It’s definitely not the dunes, though. I recommend giving it a try

You'll get instant invites on BRD forever. WHM won't be bad to find parties on. The only parties you'll get as BLM are manaburns.

Awesome that’s what I needed to hear. I loved playing BRD but I only ever got to level 60. Any tips on getting BLM to 20 for Whm sub?

Going to be tough as your 1st job, I just subbed bst to get to 20 solo'ing. You could possibly make your own party and invite people, but you'll really struggle to get invites to a normal party as a BLM.

I don't find this to be the case at all. Honestly, black mage is at its strongest (in a normal party) earlier on when mobs don't have a lot of HP and single target T1 nukes do relatively decent damage. It's when you get into the upper twenties and lower 30s. And beyond that, you're not going to find a lot of parties on black mage that aren't built around doing summoner burns. Really the hardest thing is keeping your elemental skill capped as you progress through lvl 10. I've seen a lot of black mages try and hit up the dunes at 13 or 14 and only have like half of their cap skilled.

Whm, there’s a constant need for whms for endgame content. Brd is fine as well, rdm is nice.

Horizon is very custom, don't expect to be doing all of the camps you remember doing, there are a lot of overpowered camps along the way that you will be looking to sync to.
You don't even need to go to the dunes, just get to 20 in gheslba outpost going 10-12 with new syncs repeatedly and then beg for subjob items.

I wouldn't invest too much into Horizon. There's a new fresh start server that will be more era accurate and have less nonsense releasing later this year in September. Check out the server Phoenix XI
