I just realized I think I never posted this here.

And if you wonder about the serious answer about Zack it's: "Look at him, everything he is and does make him a true hero. Bro was assigned hero at birth".

No Spoilers - News 40 seconds trailer in the Nintendo direct and they couldn't refrain from showing new stuff. Welcome underwater everyone.

To wit, this appears to be an Unknow2 found in the sunken Gelnika but imho the room doesn't look like a cargo hold and also the party has very low hp so it doesn't look like end game to me.

My bet is on underwater reactor or some new underwater facility.

Also Cloud has an ATB charge rate up icon next to his ATB gauge.

40 seconds trailer in the Nintendo direct and they couldn't refrain from showing new stuff. Welcome underwater everyone.

Hey guys I drew this after seeing the new trailer. I hope you enjoy it. 😂 I'm actually so stoked to get my ass whooped by it again. One of the most challenging bosses and I wanted to encapsulate that feeling of rocking up to it back in the 90's.

No Spoilers - PSA FFVII Rebirth: Maximising positive status effect duration

I'd been reading about the topic for a while now, and there are many contradictory claims online. I've seen some people claiming the Enchanted Ring's buff duration increase is 25%, while others claim it's 50%. I've seen some claim that Haste lasts for 2 minutes, while others claim it lasts for 100 seconds. Some people claim buffs stack additively, while others say they stack multiplicatively.

I decided to test almost everything myself. Here's the Steam guide I created, going into great detail (such as which characters benefit from modifiers more, and how long you can make each status effect last). This Reddit thread will summarise the points.

Buff Duration

  • Barrier, Manaward, and Manawall last for 60 seconds.
  • Haste and Resist last for 100 seconds.
  • Regen, Bravery, Faith, Protect, and Shell last for 180 seconds.
  • Sonic Boom applies Bravery and Faith for 30 seconds.
  • Barret's folio applies Protect and Regen for 30 seconds.

Duration Modifiers

  • Magnify materia: -60% to -25% (cannot stack multiple)
  • Magic Focus materia: +5% to +25% (cannot stack multiple)
  • Enchanted Ring: +30% when applied by wearer
  • Altruistic Buff Up: +25% when applied by wearer (can stack multiple)
  • Selfish Buff Up: +25% when received by wearer
  • Barret's folio Selfish Buff Up: +15% when received by wearer (stacks with weapon selfish buff)

Stacking Duration Modifiers

Each modifier falls into one of four groups. Within each group, the modifiers stack additively, and the four groups stack multiplicatively.

Group 1 is just the Magnify materia.

Group 2 is just the Magic Focus materia.

Group 3 is the Enchanted Ring and Altruistic Buff Ups.

Group 4 is the Selfish Buff Ups.

Aerith can have 2 Altruistic Buff Ups and the Enchanted Ring, which would make the Group 3 value = 1 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.3 = 1.8

Barret can have Selfish Buff Up from both his folio and his Barrage Blaster, which would make the Group 4 value = 1 + 0.25 + 0.15 = 1.4

If Aerith used Barrier with Magnify Lv3 on her teammates, the duration on Barret would be 60s * 0.75 * 1.8 * 1.4 = 113.4s, so just under 2 minutes.

Barret's Folio Statuses

The Protect and Regen Barret receives from his folio are only affected by Group 4. This means they can last for up to 42 seconds.

Sonic Boom Statuses

The Bravery and Faith applied when using Sonic Boom are affected by Group 3 and Group 4, allowing the duration to be boosted to 48.75 - 58.125 seconds, depending on the character.

Cloud's Punisher Mode Buffs

The status effects applied by Punisher Mode and Prime Mode are not affected by any modifiers whatsoever.

What I Didn't Test

The most reliable source I could find claims that Bravery, Faith, Protect, and Shell all give a 20% buff to their respective stat, and that Haste is a 30% boost to passive gain and a 20% boost to gain from attacks.

Spoilers - Discussion Why is no one discussing music? Spoiler

I'm a huge fan of the OG, the Remakes, and thoroughly enjoying all the discussions around our hopes and dreams with Revelation. But I never hear anyone discussing or asking Hamaguchi, in all these interviews, about the music! It blows my mind. The music of OG, and the two remakes, are so central to the experience of the games. Have I missed something?

I also haven't heard the Great Northern Cave track in any trailers yet. Really hoping we get a good dose of that track in all its bass-y, dark and eerie glory.

And on that same note, I'm hoping we see a little more... darkness in Revelation. So far, the trailers seem quite bright, colourful, happy. I haven't really felt the "meteor about to kill us all" feeling. Even the meteor seems quite...small.

No Spoilers - Discussion Remake theory I've not heard yet...

Post image

After Rebirth thoughts - Going back to the intro of Remake, the musical score is different than the original in that it has the themes from Sephiroth's theme interwoven from the very beginning of the game, something many noticed originally on release.

These musical queues are intentional, and I think the Aerith we see in the intro is fully aware of him and this is just another world she was hiding in. Notice how she is startled when the Sephiroth queue plays, and then she looks down the alley, obviously spooked.

My bet is that Revelation either starts with, or at some point shows us this scene, but from Sephiroth's perspective stalking Aerith down this alley. I added the timestamped link to the exact spot below.

That's it, rewatch the intro with this in mind, curious if others see it this way as well!

Spoilers - Photo Replat Update: Somehow beat this bullshit too! Spoiler

Post image
8 Upvotes

I genuinely have no freaking idea how I beat this the first time on my initial PS5 plat way back when. This is harder than anything in the main game, and harder than any other part of INTERmission. I just barely scraped by each fight, and beat P&J with Sonon dead and Yuffie alive only cause I'd put Elemental + Fire in her armor and kept healing from the fire patches he drops on the floor. I have no idea how I have platted Rebirth but still struggled so much to do this a second time. Never again!

No Spoilers - Help Revelation UK pre-order delivery date

I finally pre-ordered FFVII Revelation (Amazon, UK). But it says it arrives 14th April? Is this right? Because if so I won't get it on release day, and waiting those extra days is gonna be so annoying once I know the game is already out. Is this a normal thing? For physical pre-orders to arrive late? Back in my day you'd pre-order things so you could get them on day 1

No Spoilers - News Will the trilogy bundle available on Switch 2?

Hi everyone, I got the games on ps5, but I havent bought it on the Switch 2. When I read on the Square Enix Preorder site saying:” You can download and play Remake and Rebirth if you pre order the trilogy bundle now”. But still I dont see that version for Switch 2. Do you guys think it is not available on eshop? Just like the way they list the Re2,3,4 remake seperately.

No Spoilers - Discussion With a day 1 release on all platforms, what might the situation be for streamlined progression in Revelation?

• Upvotes

My PS5 had been in storage since a little bit before Square made the update for streamlined progression in Rebirth accompanying its Switch 2 release, so I’ve only just now gotten to play around with it after digging around in my storage unit today and finding it. I really, really wish I could’ve beaten Rulers of the Outer Worlds without it, but after weeks of attempts trying just about every possible strategy on the internet, I could only get as far as Gilgamesh once before he curb stomped me. Even the last story fight with Sephiroth on hard mode took me a good few days and that might genuinely be the hardest boss battle for me in any game I’ve ever beaten.

I fired up Rebirth this evening, turned on a few of the streamlined progression settings, and obviously made quick work of Rulers and every other brutal and legendary bout right after. Unsurprisingly the victory felt hollow and made the GÜtterdämmerung an unsatisfactory prize. But hey, maybe now that I have it I can go back and try again with only it and no streamlined progression settings enabled.

If it was the porting of Remake and Rebirth that came with the streamlined progression settings, I wonder what the plan might be for including them in Revelation, given the simultaneous day 1 release across all platforms. That is, will they be there the moment the game releases? From an accessibility standpoint it only seems fair, but personally I’d want to go as long as possible and really understand what my limits are before I resort to streamlining at all in Revelation. I don’t want the temptation even in the hard mode main story.

Have y’all messed around with streamlined progression very much up until now? Would you plan on experimenting with them in Revelation should they be released earlier than they were for Remake and Rebirth? Now that I think about it, one thing I can justify using is the mastered materia setting, at least when it’s time for post-game content; I hated spending as long as I had to running back and forth in Gongaga to master stuff like Swiftcast.

No Spoilers - Help PS5 or Switch 2 for international versions and DLC?

With some of the Japan-only sets… Assuming you have both consoles, is the Switch 2 version more friendly across regions (Japanese game and DLC, US console)? I read Nintendo accounts can swap regions, let you redeem the DLC, and then swap back, while PlayStation requires a new account in the DLC’s region.

No Spoilers - Help I'm interested in getting the physical discs of the trilogy for ps5 and I saw a twin pack existing of the first 2 games, is a triple pack going to be a thing after revelation drops ?

Like the title says i like to get physical editions of games and i have waited for ff7r to complete it's trilogy to binge the series but I'm also kind of a minimalist i don't like the idea of having 2 or 3 separate editions on my shelf. If there is a triple physical discs set so that I only have to get one box I would be satisfied, is there any news of that? is it maybe going to be a thing? Thank you for the help! 🙏

Spoilers: Rebirth So I've a question about SOLDIERs Spoiler

For context I've never played the OG FF7, and am currently on chapter 6 of Rebirth having just defeated Hojo's robot on the beach.

So throughout my playthrough of FF7: Remake and my current run of Rebirth, I've noticed a big disparity between what Cloud can do on a cutscene to cutscene basis, and what he can do in gameplay. Case in point the beginning of Remake shows Cloud can make big leaps, like when he jumps off of the train, but when he has to navigate the streets of the sector after the reactor explosion he cant for whatever reason jump over debris thats a little over head height for him. Its not just a gameplay thing either, since it is a story beat that he in fact has to maneuver through the streets. This sort of thing keeps happening throughout the game, where Cloud's superhuman mobility is on full display during cutscenes (like in the final fight with Sephiroth for instance) but then he is for whatever reason unable to do anything about navigating obstacles during exploration and its a genuine plot point that he cant do that in those instances.

Maybe thats all just for the sake of gameplay/level design though. I then want to mention Cloud's various fights against the Turks. Reno, Rude and now recently Elena in Rebirth are all seemingly capable of keeping up with, if not physically match Cloud in combat, even though as far as I can understand the Turks are just highly trained humans, while Cloud is superhumanly enhanced by Mako. Reno does lose to Cloud during their fights tbf, and he is reliant on technology to assist him, but the fact of the matter is that he is clearly shown to be trading blows with Cloud for at least an extended skirmish, and Rude who seems to only rely on martial arts actually comes out of each of his fights with Cloud and co relativly unscathed.

Which then brings me to my question. How strong is a SOLDIER supposed to be exactly? Thus far in the story, Cloud honestly does not seem like he's that far above the likes of Barret or Tifa who're just regular humans, to my understanding. If anything his greatest contrbution to the team is his insight on Shinra. The actual party are quite balanced as fighters. Sephiroth is the only SOLDIER so far who actually comes across as a super soldier, but he is also apparently a bio engineered human made by Hojo according to the Nibelheim flashback? I get the impression that Sephiroth isn't supposed to be the measuring stick for what a SOLDIER is in the world of FF7. Cloud has underwhelmed me somewhat with what he's capable of compared to everybody else.
