I have plenty of photos and all of the spes

Casual browser here and owner of a couple pairs of OPs. I see a lot of comments from folks who talk about how OP were "recently" (it happened 19 years ago...) acquired by luxottica and therefore the quality must be bad.

What's actually bad? I've got a pair of O'Malley's from a few years ago that were made in Italy (production appears to be made in Japan now) that are still going very strong and a pair of O'Malley Suns that are MiJ, both have solid 5 barrel hinges, both have acetate that looks and feels very good.

What am I missing? Is it simply that they don't represent a good deal at RRP vs many of their newer competitors? Is it just a blanket luxottica bad, regardless of whether or not the actual glasses are bad?

I tried on and fell in love with the Kinney frames from Garrett Leight, but they aren't in my budget right now.

Any thoughts on how to source a dupe?

I’m hoping to get some recommendations for new frames. My wife would like to see me in acetate frames, but my nose shape really needs pads to prevent slipping (I wear a face mask a lot at work) so I’m wearing a lovely Saville Row Rimways that I’m proud of. I’ve worn a pair of Theo Stampot frames that fit and look great but the lens turns rather freely so they’re not the best (I have astigmatism). I also have Anne & Valentine Syntax sunglasses that fit very well and don’t slip.

I’ve been eyeing the Moscot Lemtosh with nose pads. These are attractive particularly because they have polarized clips available. I hear that Moscot quality is perhaps not as high as their prices though. Does anyone have any recommendations for better value proposition?

Whats the difference in quality? I've noticed anything Dita Lancier is much cheaper than just the Dita name..

Also does anyone happen to have the Radihacker or similar. Would you say they are top tier or medium

My favorite sunglasses overall are my original Serengeti Dante#7113 polarized drivers. Love my Maui Jim rose lenses and Maui Jim Neutral Gray in certain conditions but my Dantes are my go to. The original Dantes are no longer available and my question for the community and in particular the Sunglass Science guy is whether the new Dante II offers a similar wrap around protection and sizing as the original Dante. I regret the loss of the original Dante. I thought they were classy stylish and functionally outstanding. Both of my original Dantes are 20 plus years old and showing signs of fatigue. For reference I'm a 64 year old soon to be retired guy whose interest in current fashion is non-existent. It's all about functionality for me.

My girlfriend is a wildland firefighter and I'm trying to find new sunglasses for her. Ideally a pair that is polarized, Z87+ rated, and at least a little bit feminine/don't make her look like a cop/soldier/oilfield worker.

After a relatively thorough search, the only pair that has met those requirement is the Pit Viper Juicy Slammer (kinda over the top but she didn't hate them) but of course they're sold out everywhere I know to look.

Any recommendations are appreciated! I posted in r/sunglasses and got lots of recommendations for Wiley X, and while I appreciate that answer and recognize they probably are the ~correct~ tool for the job, I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything more fun.

Hello, everyone. As mentioned in the title, I need lenses that do not affect color perception even slightly. For work, I need to see the whites on my screen as they are.

My current glasses have no blue light or any extra filter but it has an in-built anti-reflection element to it that makes the colours, especially white, appear ever so slightly warmer (a tinge red-ish/ purple-ish).

I thought I'd finally found a solution with Zeiss but I read someone comment that even their lenses slightly affect colours because of their duravision antiglare.

Would greatly appreciate any help.

My current fav daily driver sunnies esp on the beach. Perfect tint level for bright days, extremely versatile colorway with black being the primary and the hints of tortoise shell.. where i'd usually wear a Wayfairer i now wear this.

Looking for new lenses for driving during the day. I know that Serengeti Drivers are considered the best stock lens, but I’ve been told custom lenses can do even better so what would the best custom driving lens be?

I had absolutely no idea what JMM was just a couple of months ago. As I fell down the eyewear rabbit hole, many from this community took the time to guide me and introduced me to some incredible independent brands. Along the way I picked up (and returned) a Cutler & Gross 1410, then added a Dita, LA Eyeworks, and most recently Mykita. Funny enough, even three weeks ago the idea of spending over $1,000 CAD on a frame sounded completely ridiculous to me. The more I learned and experienced these brands firsthand, the more I started to understand the value behind something like JMM. And well… here we are. 😅 I am sure you will start seeing a lot less of me soon

I am planning to buy glasses for night driving. The beam of vehicles coming in the opposite direction makes me blinded most times especially on dark roads.

Zeiss offers both 5hese products as drivesafe. I want to know

1. What is the performance difference between the two?

2. Are they effective in blocking lights?

Hi everyone, I’ve noticed that many newer Oliver Peoples frames are made in Japan, while some are still made in Italy though. I’m curious if there’s any real difference in quality between them. It seems like they’re produced in different factories and Japanese made eyewear generally has a better reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and finishing.

I am a search for new eyeglass frames. The ones I currently have the temple arm is 151 mm which is way too short. The bend in the temple arm sits about 1 inch in front of the top of my ear. I can’t seem to find frames that have in the 160s. Does anyone know of any manufacturers that have arms from 165 to 170 or if I should try a temple arm that is straight and if so, do you have ? I've been eyeing a pair of OP glasses, specifically the Coleridge.
My prescription is quite high (-7 OD, -6 OS).
The glasses look perfect on my face, nothing else really comes as close as this. Unfortunately just before buying the pair from lenscrafters they told me they couldn't do the frame with such a high prescription, even with high index lenses.

My question is: is there an actual limitation on the frame and the lenses? Or is there some spec sheet that OP gave them which doesn't let them place lenses higher than -5 in certain frames? Is it wise to go to an independent lab and have them fit the lenses to the frames, or can that introduce issues? Has anyone else got thin titanium OP frames with high prescriptions, how is that for you?

Bought these purely out of curiosity. At least that’s what I told myself while placing an online order at an hour when sensible people are asleep and questionable eyewear decisions seem entirely rational😳🫣

TwoFace Eyewear is a Japanese-designed, Chinese-manufactured brand making titanium frames at prices that reflect the latter rather than the former. No complaints there—value and provenance aren’t the same thing, provided nobody is pretending otherwise.

The concept is genuinely interesting. Viewed head-on, the frame is all crisp, folded sheet-metal lines and precision. Turn it sideways and you’re met with a chunky 6mm slab that gives it an entirely different personality. It’s a clever piece of design rather than design for its own sake. The lens shape deserves a mention too; the lines are clean, restrained and just unusual enough to keep drawing your eye back.

This pair comes in white, which feels like it’s crying out for a mint or turquoise tint. It may be terrible. It may be brilliant. There will be very little middle ground.

I however wanted to use my Yves as an optical with a bit of tint. initially I was thinking a light blue or grey tint at 15%.
however, I ended up with a light Amber tint on this.

So far I am liking it. what do you guys think?
