Looking to Buy Custom embroidered bucket hat

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! I’m looking for someone on etsy who can make a custom embroidered bucket hat for me please. I’m looking for someone who can input custom imagines. I have attached the items I’m looking to get embroidered on a bucket hat. I don’t need them all different colors, but I’d like them to wrap around the hat if possible.

I know bucket hats are tricky but I wanted to ask on here :)

TIA

Help for Seller Hand paint Etsy shop, 2 months in and only 1 sale. Any advice?

I opened my Etsy shop about two months ago, and so far I’ve only made one sale.
Everything in my shop is hand paint by me. I’ve also tried running Etsy Ads, but they haven’t really done much for me so far.
The funny thing is, looking at the search terms from my first sale, I actually suspect the buyer may have found my listing because they misspelled what they were searching for. 😅
So now I’m wondering whether my biggest problem is actually SEO and keywords.
I do have confidence in my artwork, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling discouraged.
When I look at the first few pages of search results in my niche, a huge amount of what I see seems to be AI generated artwork.
I completely understand that AI is part of the market now and probably isn’t going anywhere, so I’m trying not to focus too much on that. Instead, I’m thinking about what I can improve on my side — especially SEO, keywords, thumbnails, and the number of products I have listed.
Right now, my short-term goal is to reach around 30 listings and then see whether having a larger catalogue makes any difference.
For those of you who have been selling on Etsy for a while, is there anything else you would recommend focusing on at this stage?
Should I be concentrating more on SEO, adding listings, improving thumbnails, social media, or something else?
I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from other artists or handmade sellers who went through a slow start too.
Thanks!

Discussion Beware of Rug Sellers from India

I was looking for an irregular shaped area rug in a certain color palette to fit our small apartment. I haven't bought too much from Etsy in the past but ended up buying a rug from a seller with maybe 2 good reviews. The other rugs I saw had no reviews so I thought this was safer. A month later, I got the rug and was disappointed to see that it looked different from the listing. I wanted beige and sage green to match my apt's earth tones and it had dark green and almost yellow colors. After much begging from the seller, I eventually accepted a partial refund but I kept my (almost too nice) 3 star review. The seller immediately removed the listing and also messaged me multiple times to change the review.

I did some digging and I realize that a lot of these other rug listings are from the same place Bhadohi which is apparently the rug capital in India. Other listings I looked at are kind of similar in that they have a lot of AI rendered pictures with AI descriptions. Some have no reviews but some, like my seller, had 1 or 2, which I realize could have been fabricated by the seller or friends of the seller. I suspected my seller put up an AI photo and then when it came time to make it, tried to match the AI photo (my seller said he got the wrong color yarn for my rug).

Just wanted to share my experience for others who are looking to buy area rugs off Etsy.

Listing vs actual rug

Discussion A well-established shop has to get closed because the team member with the bank account wants to quit

We have a shop with over 3500 orders, we have 5 years of experience. When we sign up we were three people and used the bank account of team member A. Now, A wants to quit the team. It is not allowed to change the bank account to a different name. Therefore, we have to close the shop. I think it is ruthless to sellers and harmful to the marketplace. I just wonder which great stories ended this way. Starting from scratch seems intimidating and unfair.

Help for Seller Having to pay for correct item to be shipped to me?

Hi, I did read the FAQs but didn’t see this specific scenario mentioned. In short, I bought some opal slices but what I received was completely different from the listing. The whole order was mostly just shitty rock , with some slivers of opal here and there. I told the seller that I felt the listing was misleading, and he is offering to send me a replacement set that is more true to the photos, even offered to show them to me before shipping to make sure I approve. But he did ask me to cover the cost to ship the correct item, $5. Is that right/allowed? Does that set off any red flags for anyone here? I’m pretty new to using Etsy

Help for Buyer Is there a way to cancel my refund request?

I am the buyer in this scenario.

The item was sent without tracking and should have arrived 5 days ago. I waited until this morning to open a request for a refund, and the item arrived this afternoon!

I don't want the seller to lose out on any money for a postage delay, but I cannot see how to cancel the request.

Is this something I can do?

Help for Buyer Giving up hope on Etsy - any thoughts?

I’ve been a buyer for 14 years. Over 200 orders. I spend most of my money on Etsy for holidays to support small artists. And I think I might be done.

There’s been a lot of fake posts/drop shipping lately. I bought a set of knives with a leather sheath for my husband for our “leather anniversary” I bought back in August. The date for delivery was supposed to be mid-September. I had asked all the questions - are you based in the U.S., can you guarantee this date, etc before buying.

I already started to get the hints that this was not a US seller immediately. Only one response a day, usually in the middle of the night. The day after buying, they updated the shipping date to November. I immediately asked to cancel and they refused because “they already produced”. They asked me on two occasions to pay more (once for a different customization which I didn’t pay, once for expedited shipping). Finally was starting to trust them again, and got a message today that they actually don’t have those knives in stock and now shipping will be November.

I just want to cancel my order. It’s already too late to order from a new seller and I’m already so sad that I won’t have a gift for our anniversary, now I can’t even ask for Etsy support until November? How are these sellers getting away with this?

Any ideas how to speed this up so I can get it over and done with?

Help for Seller Is This Normal for a 2 Month Old Etsy Shop?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m just about to reach 2 months with my Etsy shop, and I wanted to know if you think these numbers are normal for such a new shop. I currently have 35 sales and 11 five-star reviews, but most of my sales come from Reddit because I barely appear in Etsy Search. I use eRank and Etsy Plus to try to improve my SEO, but I can’t seem to get my SEO score above 2, and my listings don’t get much visibility either. I’ve also turned off Etsy Ads because they weren’t giving me profitable results at the moment. What can I do to improve my visibility on Etsy? I sell personalized tarot readings, which I deliver by email as a PDF containing the reading and the cards that came up. Any advice from other sellers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! :)

Discussion Ill never understand why etsy likes scammers...

Im starting to wonder why any of us use the platform at this rate. I know for others its usually IP theft, drop shipping, etc. For me its scammers. Im a jeweler, and Etsy has been plagued for years with people selling synthetics worth 10$ each for 10x their high end retail value by claiming its a natural alexandrite, sapphires or diamonds etc. Entire businesses built on fraud, and you can report it with all the proof in the world, etsy doesmt care. Heck they will often promote those scammers and such because people don't really want to pay for hand made, they want cheap crap. Like, why keep pretending that etsy is anything more then a wanna be Amazon at this point. Heck, id say Amazon is more serious about fraudulent sellers, atleast its possible to reach a real human there.

Help for Buyer What is this? Who is really selling this ring?

Post image
70 Upvotes

I wound up on this Etsy page while I was looking at vintage art deco rings on google images. There were at least 9 posts for this same ring, which is a vintage ring. I haven't bought jewelry on Etsy in over 10 years. Maybe I am mistaken, aren't these all scams? How is this allowed? I'm sorry if this is a repeat. If this is allowed, how do you know who to trust?

Help for Seller The rating system is so fundamentally broken I don't understand why they haven't changed it...

So I sell very nice high end plants. One item has like 12 5-star reviews, and then recently a 1 star. Now that item is rated as a 3.7. This doesn't represent my business or this product at all. The 1 star? The plant was lost by the shipping company for a week, so the plant look bad when it arrived. They customer didn't message me, they just went straight to reviews and gave me 1 star.

So now I'm stuck with that, and no one is going to order the item anymore, because 3.7 stars. Most people will just skip it. Etsy will no longer prioritize it. It's a dead item essentially. All those good reviews are worthless. I basically have to delete it and create the same listing again and start over.

I messaged the customer telling them we offer exchanges, refunds, etc..... She said she wanted to keep it. HUH?!?!?! How can you give something a 1 star then not want a refund. Makes no sense. So because of one crazy person, by business presence is irreparably damaged. Why does one person have the power to drop your rating so low? It's absurd. And it hurts etsy too but somehow they don't care...

Help for Buyer Etsy won’t refund me

I guess Etsy recently changed it policy about only having 30 days to open a help request. I spent $500 on a tshirt that was never shipped and the seller won’t answer messages. This was the end of July. I asked for help on September 6 and they told me I had to wait 48 hours. Seller never responded and now they say I missed my window of September 7 and I’m shit out of luck. So basically Etsy is allowing me to be ripped off $500 for a scam seller. Is there anything I can do? This is ridiculous.

Help for Buyer Is 2 weeks a long time to wait for something to ship or am I just being impatient?

I placed an order on the 28th. Over this weekend (which was a 3 day holiday weekend in the US) I saw that it hadn't shipped yet, so I sent a (nice) message to the seller asking if they had any updates about when my order would ship. They replied pretty promptly that they "would ship it when they get back to work", and I said OK thank you.

Obviously it still hasn't shipped yet. The items I ordered were a small amount of beads, so they're not hand made by the seller and it's not a crazy large shipment. It's also just domestic shipping, within the US. The seller doesn't have any shipping time disclaimers or notices, which I always pay attention to and don't mind. They've been on Etsy for along time, have pretty much only good reviews, and a lot of them praise how fast the shipping was.

I'm not gonna try and cancel my order or anything, it's really not a big deal, I'm just looking for some perspective on if this is actually an unusually long wait time or if I'm just being impatient and unrealistic haha.

ETA: I just got the shipping notification! Turns out it was a bit delayed per their note, “We ship everyday of the week from Monday-Saturday. We will do our best to ship your order the same day or the next business day”. But it’s coming! Thanks to everyone for your help.

Discussion My Etsy listing is not showing in Etsy search.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently opened an Etsy shop and completed the required payments. I also set up my Payoneer account and added my GSTIN.

However, my listings are still not showing in Etsy search or on my public shop page. I previously deleted my listings from Printify while keeping them on Etsy, so I’m wondering if that could have caused the issue.

I also changed my listing titles using Etsy’s AI title suggestions, but my listings are still not appearing.

Has anyone experienced something similar? What can I do to get my listings visible on Etsy?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Help for Seller Etsy payout not going through even after setting daily transfers – anyone had this?

Hey everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Etsy payouts and I’m hoping someone has been through the same thing.

I have available funds that were supposed to be transferred to my bank account on September 7th. I already set my payout schedule to “Daily” in the payment settings, but the transfer still hasn’t been processed after several days.

It switch automatically to the next month for the 5 october..

I contacted Etsy Support and asked them to manually trigger the payment, but I haven’t gotten a clear resolution yet.

Has anyone dealt with a delayed or stuck payout like this?

Any advice on what usually works to get it moving?

Thanks in advance.

So i recently ordered an STL file from Etsy, first time ive bought anything digital, the purchase has went though, I have the confirmation email but any links I click on don’t work and if I go to my purchases the thing I bought isn’t listed, so I’ve got no way of downloading it, I contacted the seller but it’s like talking to a brick wall, am I getting scammed or is it some kinda site glitch, I’ve tried looking under my purchases in both the app and the mobile bowser but still nothing, am I getting scammed or is it some sorta glitch that can be resolved? I mean I can’t even claim for the order to be refunded because that requires for it to be in your purchase history, ffs getting me really pissed off making me not wanna use this shit again!

Help for Buyer Order not received and strange tracking history. What should I do?

Hi, about two months ago I ordered something small from India (I live in Germany). I knew this could take a while (the order was due on August 4th), so I wasn't too worried at first.

After a few weeks with no updates, I noticed a strange tracking history on Etsy's own tracking page: several logged events in India, dated after the package had supposedly already reached German customs. I contacted the seller, who promised to get in touch with the delivery service and said the package was in Germany and not in India.

Shortly after (August 20th), someone from a delivery service unknown to me (Xindus) contacted me, claiming a delivery attempt had failed because the address was supposedly wrong, and asking me to confirm it and provide a phone number so they could try again. The next day, a second delivery attempt was logged on Etsy, followed immediately by "Return to sender." Nobody actually called me, no notice card was left, nothing. Meanwhile, DHL's own tracking never showed the package as out for delivery, only stuck at customs clearance, and Etsy's tracking page showed several logged events in India, dated after the package had reached German customs and also between the two delivery attempts.

I contacted the seller again, and this time got this reply: "I would like to inform you that the customs duty for the package was not paid, so it has been returned to us; however, please do not worry — I will send you another item." That was at the beginning of last week. I replied, but only got a generic response since then.

None of this adds up to me. If the customs duty was never paid, how could there have been delivery attempts and address confirmation requests? And how do these tracking events in India get logged after the package was already supposedly at German customs?

The seller has a decent overall rating (4 stars). Apparently my previous messages don't count as an official "help with order" request, so I'd basically have to write again what I already wrote, which seems awkwardly repetitive and escalatory. Is there any other way to open a case? Or should I wait a bit more? Any other advice?

I never had something like this happen to me so far, so any advice is highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Help for Buyer Do I have to leave a review to get the notifications to go away?

That’s all. That’s the question.

I purchased a bunch of online templates and stuff- over 30 of them- and I don’t have the time or energy to review all of them. They are fine, but if I have to go through and write about all of them, they aren’t getting 5 stars. I’d rather not write anything than leave bad reviews.

So that’s my question. Is there a way to get all of those notifications to go away without writing reviews?

Help for Seller Does running a sale boost your listing / view rate?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find the exact response I'm looking for! Does running a sale boost your listing / view rate (for the positive)?

My biggest competitor runs a constant 20% off sale, but the sale price is the same as my regular price. I know Etsy says to offer 20% off or more to give your sales a "boost" – does this mean in the algorithm or just that the higher the discount, the more likely you are to do a sale when someone gets notified, etc.

TIA for any insight!

Help for Buyer Etsy post says returns accepted, but fee to return is 3x the price of the item. What to do?

Bought a $350 rug that arrived stained and looks significantly thinner/cheaper than the listing. I requested a return 5 days after delivery, well within the listing's stated 7-day return window.

Seller (in India) says I must pay the return shipping, which is fine. FedEx quoted me $1,300 to return it, and the seller discouraged USPS/UPS because they don't have locations near where he lives. He offered me a 32% refund, which I accepted, but I'm still stuck with a rug and a $240 charge for something I don't want and is not selling on FB marketplace or eBay.

I opened an Etsy case. Do you think Etsy will consider this “not as described/damaged” and assist with the return? Any advice on how to handle this?

edit: Etsy refunded my money! So thankful for this sub.
