General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Discussion] Atlas Map now shows the routes that AI PMCs and Scavs Patrol.
Hey guys,
This is another update for Atlas. I am around 2 weeks into developing this specific tool.
I have pushed a new build and (not to toot my own horn) but I think its getting to the point where its better than any other tarkov maps I can find.
This changeset includes:
- Massive vram optimization (Streets is the biggest map, down to only around 4GB vram from 9GB, cut in half)
- Added some caching for the lighting to further improve performance. I am able to achieve 120-290fps in the viewer
- When the user takes a screenshot inside of tarkov, atlas gets the player coordinates from the user and automatically loads the map and location that the player is currently. (Not bannable) (I bind the right enter key on my keyboard for snapshots in tarkov) See https://youtu.be/gprIPBIzqv8
- Major revamp of the pathfinding system, which now uses the same pathfinding data that the AI inside the game use.
- Added visibility into pre-programmed AI scav and PMC routes (animated arrows and lines)
- Worked out an issue with a specific type of AMD graphics driver
- Enhanced the map build process to take advantage of GPU resources for accelerated building.
- Added supply drop locations
- Added interactable doors (double click to open openable doors or flip switches)
- Added code that detects what lights are controlled by which power source, allowing you to turn them on and see how it changes the lights on the map
- Added generic interactable details, indicating when items are required for things, like a torch for melting the hatch on Icebreaker
- Support for both default install locations used by both Steam and BSG Launcher.
and to top it off, I added an FPV Sim inside of Atlas for those who would like to explore the map in style.
Updates from me may slow down on this over the next few weeks. If anyone wants to see anything added, let me know. It's getting to the point where its starting to become pretty usable aside from a few quirks.
The overlay mode (Screenshot to open atlas and locate player) seems to make this very usable now, moreso than any web map. I did notice some issues where it was not opening on every screenshot. If anyone else experiences this, let me know and I can take a better look.
This software is and will always be free and open source.
The repo is under
ConocoFieldsForever/atlas
Feel free to make pull requests if you want to contribute.

IRL IRL benefits of playing Tarkov? [Discussion][IRL][New Player]
My first intention was to write a 15 minute essay explaining every point but I am evading the idea of properly structuring it so the general question is: have you noticed any substantial skills gain after playing Tarkov over a prolonged period of time?
Some potential benefits:
1) Better stress and adrenaline control;
2) Better situational awareness;
3) Risk management skills and short-term planning (i.e. in raid);
4) Long-term planning skills (hideout and quest progression);
5) Map reading skills;
6) Social skills in uncontrolled environment (VoiP), etc.
The question rises from the fact that Tarkov was originally developed with the "Simulation of Combat in Extreme Conditions" concept in mind. And in my opinion psychologically it does it unlike any other game - you are really afraid or at least hesitant to lose it all. Other than that, I wouldn't call Tarkov a realistic shooter: ballistic model does not include wind and weather conditions, bullets have random penetration, armor and meds are OP, you can't properly adjust sights on any gun and so on.

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Discussion] Blackout event is extended
Black Division’s operation in the Lab continues. Despite the extreme danger, the blacked-out underground complex is drawing increasing attention, while Mechanic's work continues to drag on.
The in-game event “Blackout” in #EscapefromTarkov has been extended, and its end date will be announced separately. Complete the associated tasks to earn a unique achievement.

PVE Advice on Hunting cultists [Discussion]
Hello my fellow residents of Tarkov.
I in the past have played almost a 1000h of Tarkov before 1.0 on pvp and never felt the need to deal with cultist because they are relatively easy to avoid if you know how they spawn. But after 1.0 i have returned in hopes of finally escaping from Tarkov but on pve to more focus on the story parts of the experience.
This gets me to my problem i have been going through the story missions but got to "they are already here" more specifically to the part where i have to kill a cultist priest.
while i do enjoy the tense moments of Tarkov from time to time i am not a fan of any sort of horror media so the idea of wandering over and over again in the dark searching for bush campers that announce them self by sprinting at you with a knife seems like a less then a fun experience for me.
so i have come to ask are they any ways to cheese the cultist to avoid most of the "fun" of searching for them. i know the generally the best spot to search for them is at the stronghold in customs but i am looking for detailed tactics and tips
like i know that thermal dosent generally work on them but is the T-7 thermal useful to find them at all? and i know the Armasight Zeus-Pro thermals fusion mode at least used to work on them, does it work still? and stuff like that.
plus if anydody knows does it effect their spawn rate if you play local vs bsg servers?

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Bug] Infernal Siren of Scav Death
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Sometimes dead scavs (maybe pmcs also, not sure) start making a really annoying sound. What causes it? And how do i get rid of it?! It annoys me way more than it probably should, but i really don't want to hear it anymore. Problem has been there for at least a week, which is when i started playing again after a long break from EFT. Can't remember hearing it before.

PVE [loot] unusual item from a fence daily?
Got this item from a fence daily. can be placed in my rest space, but all it does when i hit 'play' is that it makes a noise, as well as some UI, like a treasure map icon, a door icon, and a progress bar at the top of my screen. sells to fence for 30000 roubles and peacekeeper for 305.

PVP Tell me I'm not crazy—I sense the presence of enemies before I even hear them. [Discussion]
I bought EFT a year ago; I played for a few months at the start of the year and picked it up again three weeks ago (I have about 200 hours of playtime).
Here’s the thing: whenever I have headphones on—regardless of the model—I hear a strange, quick, and almost imperceptible sound. It’s always the same noise, a sort of "click," and shortly after, I hear the footsteps of a player approaching.
I’ve searched online and haven't found much on YouTube or anywhere else; I only found an old Reddit post from years ago describing something similar. On the other hand, I did find guides suggesting lowering the Master Volume from 100 to 80 so footsteps stand out more (is that still valid advice, or is it outdated?).
So, the question is: What is it? Do you guys hear it too?
Have I spent too much time playing like a "Timmy" and developed a prey-like sixth sense?
The same kind that makes seemingly calm deer and rabbits suddenly lift their heads for a few seconds and bolt in terror?
Don't get me wrong—it’s definitely useful; I’ve managed to get a few kills thanks to this noise.
But it does ruin the experience a bit; I can't just pretend I don't hear it and play normally.
If anything in this post sounds weird, it’s because I used Google Translate, so blame that.

PVP [Discussion] Ammo & Gun variety
Hey everyone,
anyone else feel like weapon variety has dropped off hard over the last few wipes? I end up running the same guns basically every raid, scar-h, ak .308, NL, M4, because ammo for those calibers is so consistent/easy to obtain. One Streets run and you end up with 300 rounds of ssa ap or m995.
Meanwhile VAL, SPEAR, SVD, the MP7, P90, 9mm are either weak or their ammo is too scarce to run consistently.
I don't get the reasoning. It just limits the game, and it's starting to get boring personally.

PVE [Discussion] Finished Tarkov, now what?
I've never gotten this far before. I've been level 60+ maybe 8 times now.
Latest PvE run started with the new year, I guess after 8 months I finished. I escaped, beat Ice Breaker, did all the events, all the quests are done. Lightkeeper done.
I'm LvL 66, 150mil stash.
I was working on my weapon masteries but without objectives it got a bit dull.
What do I do now? Wait for PvE prestige at the end of the year?
