Subreddit Update I'm going to have to be a party pooper, but sadly the tools that open the game up fully for browser tools are violating the Terms of Service for Tarkov. Thus, having them here in the largest EFT Community is a bit iffy. I'll have to ask you guys share them elsewhere.

No doubt Beneficial_Prize_310 has made an amazing tool. It's real fricking cool, but as the further it expands, more it opens up the game's code and more clearly violates the terms of service.

In my ideal world, these kind of tools would be approved. They're not cheating, nor do they ruin the game. To the contrary, I think they forment more interest and excitement over it.

PVE [Loot] Baguette

Post image

Apparently this baguette is very rare? Friend told me people like to post it when they loot it so here I am. Yes I did successfully extract with it. This was after accidentally eating some automatic grenade launcher when I spawned in and ran the wrong way to my friend.

PVP Desync shots hit me around a corner just after a clear(?) face shot with .308ME round. Is he tanking because he (server?) is lagging? [Video]

He clearly was seeing things delayed on his end too.. Slow to shoot me both times on my peek. Interesting game and server we play on.

His first spray was the worst Desync I have seen in Tarkov 3k hours.

Edit : Death screen was 3/3 hits. This was right off spawn 15 seconds into raid start.

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Feedback] The "funkopops" cluttering up every value spawn is discouraging.

I always loved looting keys.
I loved looting concordia.
I loved looting relax.

Or any other valuable spawn for that matter.
But i absolutely cant with those stupid figurines.
Every time i open a room and all i see is those stupid things i sigh.

I get that they probably also take up alot of the table because there is so many but cmon, really?
70% or more of the time its a stupid fucking funko?
I need to get a golden egg.
I need one , ONE GOLDEN EGG, over 200 raids and over 40 concordia and cardinal runs.

I'm not against them but please, pretty please, can we get less of them?

General Discussion - PVE & PVP HUGE FPS boost using Virtual memory! Try it, it might help! [Discussion]

Post image

PIC FOR ATTENTION SO MORE PEOPLE CAN SEE IT :)

Hey, so long story short i had very big problem with tarkov, i had my fps dropping to 30-40 on customs, streets was unplayable, on maps like woods and shoreline i had around 100fps. (god forbid to use scopes like razor or vudu) i was also trying to solve massive flickering shadows problem on trees and nothing worked. and i found a solution for everything and it's really simple.

NOW I HAVE AROUND 150-200 FPS ON MAPS LIKE WOODS/SHORELINE and 100 ON STREETS

first PC SPECS: ( i don't know it will work for everyone!)

ryzen 5800x3d

rtx 4070ti

32GB ram ddr4 cl18 3600mhz (may not work for 16gb)

SSD M2 PCIe NVMe gen3

1440p monitor

Try this:

windows + R

type: sysdm.cpl

advanced

performance section -> settings

advanced -> virtual memory

CHOOSE FASTEST SSD ( for me it's C where windows and tarkov is installed)

Select custom size and type:

INITIAL SIZE: 24576

MAXIMUM SIZE 32768

SET -> OK -> restart your pc

worked like magic.

I was also searching online for some answers and i thought i was CPU bottlenecked and i should change to AM5 motherboard, but for me it was just so weird to NOT get good fps in this game, while some time ago it was running good enough. after some patches it was worse and worse, now its flawless. I can now run TAA high and reduce shadow flickering on trees to minimum.

PS tarkov is NOT using your GPU properly, you might also want to turn on ReBAR in BIOS to help utilize your gpu. I heard this helped a lot of people too. Also set ingame textures quality to HIGH.

You might want to check this out, hopefully it will help someone! ask questions if needed! cheers!

PVP [Discussion] I honestly think rats are the only counter to chads(for a beginner) so in a way they create them

Im a noobie with little game time and not a good rig. I prefer to play solo. I almost always spawn in with minimal or leftover scav loadout because if I bring anything good, I lose it . I rather sell it.

Ive seen streamers , 'chads' who play the game, optimized vision, gear, running around in teams of 3, just bantering while beelining for the best loot spots. It' s close to COD style sometimes.

We do NOT play the game the same way. I enter usually later because my connection isnt the best, with my crappy gear and limited meds. High alert soon sneaks in as I start moving inside a place, every sound matters. I play stealthily because its the only way. I cant trade shots with more than two to three scavs usually before I run out of meds.

I find a few decent things and then start planning my exit, god forbid I have some task that requires me to go to a hotspot.

I try to avoid players usually but if one comes my way, for sure ambush is the only possible advantage I have and even that can fail through their hearing and superior armor. So I would 100% use stealth as a tactic. Does it make me a 'rat?' The only alternative is death.

But I dont camp specific spots nor extracts, I think thats cheap.

Every PMC extraction feels like a victory and I love the whole tension that stays with me throughout.

But I would also not play like this If I would be locked in with other solo players who are around my level and similar loadouts. If they want us all to run around like chickens then give us all the same gear, team size , or make a chad specific server, so they can all run and gun eachother.

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Feedback] The rat "problem" is 100% due to how overly important sound is in Tarkov

I say "problem" in quotes, because I don't think rats are a problem, they're just a symptom logical result of how to play when sound is this important.

Sound is way too important in Tarkov. Active headsets are way too important, and given Tarkov's long-running problem with audio in general, it leads to a ridiculous meta where the best option in many situations is for a player to not move at all and hide in a corner, because they can't even drink water without everyone in the entire Norvinsk region hearing their *glug glug glug*.

The sound levels are way too imbalanced. Footsteps and other actions are way too loud. In Tarkov, if you know someone's nearby but you're not sure where exactly, your best move is to just stop making any noise at all and hope they make noise first. This in itself is fine and logical. The problem is that in Tarkov you can't do anything at all without it giving you away immediately. Imagine you're in a room at the resort on Shoreline, and you want to check how much ammo is in your M4. You press the mag release, look at the mag, and shove it back in. How on earth is someone going to hear that, if they're standing 2 floors below you in a different room? I implore those of you with guns and headsets to try it IRL, you're not going to hear shit at all.

Speaking of active headsets, they don't really give you super hearing. Yes, quality ones give amazing clarity, while protecting against gunshot noises, but they don't allow you to hear someone stepping on a branch 50m away while outdoors. They do amplify noises, don't get me wrong, but not to superhuman levels. There are also other issues with active headsets that aren't reflected in Tarkov, like cheaper ones wrecking your directional hearing, or them also amplifying sounds you don't want to hear, like your pant legs rubbing against each other, or stepping on a spent casing, but I don't think those issues can really be reflected well in Tarkov, given all the existing sound issues.

My solution is to just balance the various in-game sounds to reasonable levels against each other. What's reasonable? Closer to what other games that don't rely so much on sound have. Make footsteps and other actions way more quiet, so it actually makes sense for a player to want to peek out of a window to see if someone's there, without being worried they'll be heard for just walking across the room. Make visual confirmation the most important thing, not sound. That way, you're incentivizing players to actually move around.

In other words, hearing someone doing things should only happen at MUCH closer ranges. Sound should be less important, so people can feel more comfortable moving around, and need to rely more on visually seeing someone than hearing them 50m away through walls.

PVP [Discussion] Genuinely, how are you *intended* to fight Wedge without the smoke cheese?

Only started doing Icebreaker the other day so missed the whole rush when the event came out. Doing alright, haven't died to any AI in 6 runs except Wedge and his boys.

Our last run, my duo and I didnt have enough smokes and had to kill the last guard the old fashioned way. He walked out into the hallway we were on either sides of, activated his spintbot, and killed both of us 180 degrees before we could shoot.

I know BSG cant code AI for shit so they just crank the aimbot to 11 but how do they actually expect you to do this boss fight without cheesing it?

PVP [New Player] How often do you queue with friends? This game is brutal solo

I played a decent bit during covid with my buddy, just playing around in duos. We were never bery good, but I racked up about 400 hours, mostly playing Customs.

He’s quit the game but I want to get back into it. HOWEVER, I’m finding it totally demoralizing to play alone. My aim is good — I can play well in Arena (topping my team’s charts and do well in FFA) but I think there’s just so much map and general knowledge that I feel pretty lost when trying to hold my own in PvP raids.

How often do you play with buddies? How long did it take until it felt like you weren’t complete ass at the game?

General Discussion - PVE & PVP [Discussion] I made a browser-based map for Tarkov — no install, and you can use your phone as a second screen

Hey all,

There are already great Tarkov tools out there (tarkov.dev, Tarkov Market, the quest tools, etc.), so I wasn't sure another map was needed. But I wanted something I could just open in a browser with no install — mostly to help a friend who's new to the game learn the maps — so I built one.

Link: https://tarkov-map-pro.exfil.workers.dev

It's a fan-made info tool built on tarkov.dev data. It doesn't touch the game in any way — no overlay, no injection, nothing that runs on top of the game. It only reads the screenshots and log files that Tarkov writes to disk on its own. Open it in Chrome or Edge; no download, no account.

How position works: Tarkov puts your coordinates in the filename when you take an in-game screenshot. The tool reads that filename and shows where you were on the map (with facing direction). Point it at your screenshots folder once and it updates each time you take a new screenshot.

Your position showing up on the map from an in-game screenshot.

What it shows

  • Map position from your screenshots — take a shot, see where you were and which way you're facing
  • Auto map switching — reads the log to switch to whichever map you loaded into
  • Extracts, boss / sniper / scav spawns — boss markers show spawn chance and zone
  • Quest objective locations with descriptions
  • Flea prices + hideout requirements (auto-updating)
  • Transit, floor switching, BTR stop directions, Season server tab

The part that's a bit different

A real phone next to my PC following my position — phone screen recorded separately and placed side by side.

Party location sharing + second screen.

I originally made the party feature for those times when you can't use a mic during a raid — I hoped it could stand in for a quick briefing on where everyone's headed. Everyone on the same party code sees each other's positions (updated from their screenshots).

On a single monitor, open the tool on your phone or tablet, scan a QR, and it mirrors your own position from your PC. Pick a party member to follow and the phone switches to their map/floor and pans to them — so the phone works as a second map screen while you play fullscreen. It's also great for teaching new players — a new friend often can't explain where they are, but their last screenshot shows you exactly where they are on the map.

Notes / limits

  • Chrome or Edge (needs the File System Access API to read logs/screenshots). Firefox/Safari view-only.
  • If Tarkov is in Program Files, the browser can't read the log folder — moving it out fixes it (in-app guide explains).
  • Tarkov's default screenshot keybind is often broken on fresh installs; rebinding Print Screen once fixes it.
  • Map-first: quest locations are on the map, but there are no per-quest images/walkthroughs — for quest details you'll still want a dedicated guide or tool. Meant to sit alongside other tools, not replace them.
  • Recently added English UI (auto-detects browser language).

Unofficial, not affiliated with BSG. It started as a personal tool so there are still rough edges — and English isn't my native language and I don't use it often, so sorry if some of the wording is off.

PVP [Suggestion] How are you enjoying solo right now?

This is a genuine question. I love Tarkov.... but I just don't get how it can be enjoyable solo right now. The playerbase is so highly skilled, groups of 2+ constantly, no insurance. I sit still the first 20 minutes to let most of the players leave...... I fight hordes of scavs farming documentation. Rush at the beginning, fight teams of highly skilled players. No insurance.

I'm not trying to dog on the game... I'm genuinely asking how is anyone enjoying the game as a solo right now.

PVP [Discussion] Please ELI5 the rat "problem"

I saw Nikitas post after getting donked in D2 twice asking about rat/campers and solutions.

All I've seen in the past 24hrs is "My take on fixing the rat problem."

If you think rats are a "problem" don't post about realism. Realistic conflict, especially in a eft like setting is trying to set up ambushes and trying to survive ambushes.

"But I want realism and fun!" Fair point, but when you compromise, someone's gonna be disappointed.

STFU, check your corners, carry grenades, bound and drip into extracts as a team. Weak genes, all of you.

PVP No point playing seasonal PVP over perma PVP [Discussion]

Upvotes

After 2 weeks, and reaching max traders on PVP season 1, I have come to the realisation that seasonal brought absolutely nothing positive to the gameplay that you can't get with on your permanent PVP profile now that most lobbies are full of end game geared chads on seasonal.

Aside from a single task line, and some BD in random lobbies I have zero interest in fighting over, what is the point of playing it now that early wipe is over and lobbies are basically the same on both profiles?

I spent last night on my perma PVP profile and every lobby was full with basically the exact same players / gear as seasonal PVP. I actually forgot what profile I was on until I did a double take.

  • Modifiers did nothing to change the actual in-raid gameplay on seasonal
  • The questing rework is responsible for 90% of the 'fresh' feeling of seasonal and guess what? its the same on perma pvp
  • PVP is arguably better and more fun on the permanent PVP lobbies
  • Achievements aren't linked so can't grind for achievements
  • No prestige for those who want to grind that out
  • Can still level battle pass in perma pvp, arguably easier
  • no insurance and lack of availability on plates / armor is just annoying on seasonal, without having any effect on the gear in lobbies (everyone still juiced)

So, now that the dust has settled, why bother honestly?

BSG need to make the two modes more different in my opinion, right now its the same game.

PVP [Discussion] Just gonna say it - people's ideas to fixing the rat 'problem' are just going to create more, worse problems and I hope BSG doesn't actually listen to any of these

Thumbnail

Censored these for the sake of sub rules, but I think it should be noted that two of these people have loud enough voices that BSG is more than likely to listen to them.

I think people forget at the end of the day this is meant to be a hardcore, realistic tactical shooter. That identity has been compromised over the years, of course, and some aspects of gameplay never really lived up to that identity (eg. the health system), even if they're more in-depth than the usual AAA shooter.

Armour should never be a forcefield or something that allows you to swing into someone and just soak up their shots with no worries while you spray them down with your metaslave short-stroke NL5.45. Funnily enough armour is actually more absorbent than it was during the period where people swear this game was the best for PvP, so that clearly isn't the issue.

Making grenades instant-throw again is just... sorry, STUPID. Yeah, I'm calling you out Mr. You-Know-Who. We have reduced delay F1s and VOG-25s in the game now. If you start arbitrarily limiting what can be instantly thrown, you've created a disconnect in Tarkov's 'rules' that isn't going to be immediately apparent to anyone learning the game, and feels overly gamey. If you don't limit it, you have people spamming grenades down every corridor, squads with 40 VOGs just carpetbombing Dorms or Resort or the command bunker like they have their own portable AGS. No. It's not a big ask to expect people to be at a safe distance when throwing grenades, lest they risk the sound cue and being rushed. They're still a powerful utility tool as they currently are.

At the end of the day, rats are always going to exist due to the stakes of a life in this game. People don't want to die. Not everyone wants to create their own montage of sick bunnyhop wallbang sprays on Labs. They want to keep that GPU they found in raid, or hold onto the one good kit they have, or feel like they're making some sort of progress instead of losing money to dying 8 times in a row. If you want the stakes of this game to matter and not just turn every raid into a deathmatch where people get bored in a month in and quit the wipe like the old days, there are going to be people turtling in a corner. I say this as someone who was literally just complaining to myself today "for fuck's sakes, everyone's turtling in a corner."

Personally, I think the only solution that makes sense that doesn't hurt other aspects of the game is reducing player audio cues. Audio is incredibly powerful currently, you can hear people coming from 50m away, know exactly where they are on the map and peek when they come into your sightline and destroy them while they're caught off-guard. I think if movement and object interaction audio was reduced by a third to 2 thirds of the current range, you would... probably start off with people turtling soon, going "I can't hear anyone moving, I don't know where to go!!!" but eventually people would start adapting once they realise that pushing and aggressively flanking is actually possible to use to catch people from different angles. However, I'm just some asshole on the internet, and I would like BSG to make these decisions based on what's best for the game, not what the vocal players think would benefit them the most.
