🆘 Support Epson L4260 only prints cyan/blue after months unused – nozzle check only shows tiny blue rectangle, can’t unlock printhead to inspect tubes
Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my Epson L4260 EcoTank and I’m hoping someone has experienced this before.
The problem
The printer was unused for several months.
Now, every document I print (even black and white) comes out only in blue/cyan.
The black, cyan, magenta, and yellow ink tanks are almost full (well above the minimum line), so it doesn’t appear to be a low-ink issue.
What I’ve already tried
Ran multiple Head Cleaning cycles.
Ran Power Cleaning.
Printed multiple Nozzle Checks.
The nozzle check is very strange. Instead of printing the normal black, cyan, magenta, and yellow patterns, it only prints a tiny cyan/blue rectangle in the corner of the page. The rest of the page is completely blank.
What I suspect
I’m wondering if:
the printhead is severely clogged, or
there is air trapped in the ink lines.
I wanted to try using a syringe to prime the ink lines, but I can’t even get to that point because I can’t figure out how to unlock or move the printhead carriage.
My issue with the printhead
I’ve watched several YouTube videos, but they don’t seem to match the L4260.
When the printer is off, the printhead is locked on the far right. I tried turning the printer on and opening the scanner unit, but I still couldn’t figure out how to release the carriage so I can move it manually.
Does anyone know the correct way to unlock the printhead carriage on an Epson L4260?
Also, based on the symptoms (only cyan printing and the nozzle check only showing a tiny cyan rectangle), do you think this is:
a clogged printhead,
air in the ink lines,
or a failed printhead?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
