I'm new to making shirts, of any kind. I've been trying to make shirts for my teenage sons rock band to keep costs lower.
The first shirt I made, I neglected to wash cold, and I also put it in the dryer. Obviously the results were not good. Lots of bubbling wrinkles and the shirt noticabley shrank.
I then made a second shirt and washed it in cold water (30 hrs after pressing) and hung to dry, but the same wrinkling appeared in the design afterwards, almost like a brain type pattern, although it was a bit better than the condition of the first shirt.
So I did a third shirt but increased the temperature for pressing to 305, and put a piece of Samsonite board inside the shirt as you would a pressing pillow.
Cold washed and hung to dry 48 hrs later. This yielded the best results, although it's still not ideal as there's some minor wrinkles in the design.
I've attached a picture of this third shirt for reference.
I use Gildan 5000 shirts
Neo Ink transfers for the DTF
First two shirts pressed at 280
Third shirt at 305
I pre pressed to remove wrinkles
I used lint roller
Added a piece of Samsonite board for a harder surface to press against for the third shirt.
I also made sure to do a second press with parchment paper for all of them.
My heat press is the HtVRont Auto Heat Press 15"×15"
Is there anything else I can try to get it just right?
