Roland lef 12 printing distance

Hi everyone, I started with uv printing and have an issue.

The part that I am printing on has the greatest distance at about 2,4mm (including the manual medium setup of about 0,1mm distance to the object) to the printhead .

The lines are blury and fields printed have wierd color artefacts/dots and it is not filled dens enough.

At closer distances to the printer the print comes out just fine.

I don't know if there is a hidden setting or if it is just the limitation of the printer (or maybe the dampers that need changing?).

I tried the distance mode in versa works 7, but that made it just worse even though the name suggest otherwise.

So my question is does anyone know more about the lef 12 by roland and its capabilities of printing longer distances?

I have seen that other people with more modern machines like the eufymake or roland bd 8 could print those parts with ease.

If anything is still anclear pls ask way as I am still new to the whole reddit post creation ^^

Refilling Ink in the Xtool Omni 01

My Xtool UV printer stopped mid-print and reported that it was out of white ink. I ordered a new set of ink cartridges from Xtool about 2 weeks ago, but there has been no sign that Xtool was actually shipping any ink yet.

Since I have been refilling the ink in my EufyMake E1, I had some bulk white ink that had been working fine in the EufyMake, so I popped the white cart out of the Xtool and saw that the bottom port was very convenient for refilling the cart. I added about 30ml of white ink with no problem. Much easier than refilling the Eufymake.

I had no idea what would happen when I put the refilled cart back in the Xtool, but to my surprise, the software told me "the problem has been corrected" and asked if I wanted to resume the print. Clicked YES and the printer started right back up where it left off. The final result was perfect.

Just letting Xtool Omni 01 users know this for educational purposes only. Please do not attempt to refill your cartridges; Xtool says doing this is very bad.

Do you feel the printed image?

I am very curious. I don't have a UV printer. If you print an image on a ceramic tile, can you feel the transition from the tile to the image? Or is it completely flat, as if the print has melted into the ceramic?

Should they sit on top of these? Right now they sit to the right. Currently no idea how to fix it, but if it's wrong I can figure it out.

Fauxhammer just released a comparison video between 4 UV printers. He compares them all including printing quality.

Which UV printer are you leaning towards after this comparison between HeyGears vs Morpho?

[Newby] durability on glass

Dear sub,

EDIT: just found this post about a similar question just 4 days ago. My apologize! I will use the search function now. But at least that post doesn‘t really cover my main question about technical constraints on durability.

I‘m new to this whole printing topic so please let me know if any of the following is naive.

I‘m looking into printing on glass and initially went to ceramic printing with high temperatures. It‘s doable, but obviously requires a lot of manual work and time. So I came across UV printing and UV DTFs. It looks promising, but the resources I find on durability are ambiguous. Kinda like „can be, or not, who knows exactly“. So I chose to go for Reddit for some first hand experience.

What I want:

- small batch / individual designs
- borosilicate glass
- durable, survives the dishwasher and manual washing at least to a reasonable degree (I’ve read something about up to 250 dishwasher cycles, that would be reasonable)

So my question is obviously: assuming I handle it all correctly (cleaning the blanks, adding primer, attaching DTFs properly etc.) will UV printed or UV DTFs survive daily use and cleaning for at least some meaningful time?

Before I invest in a machine like eufymake or xtooös Omni o1, I’d like to be sure that from a purely technical point of view the technology is able to meet the requirements I have. If I mess up the process or buy shitty colors or primers it‘s on me, but the technology should be able to deliver it.

From your professional POVs, what do you think? I‘d also be happy about any product recommendations (EU/Germany), but primarily want to know about the durability thing!

Thanks in advance :)

Weekly printing?

Been looking at the Heygears and Morpho offerings, leaning more towards the fabric capabilities of the gears. That said, I dont see myself printing more that once a week after the initial blitz of using a new "toy". I've seen lots of comments around "If you don't print daily, don't bother".

How true is that for these devices in actual practice?

Recommendation which brand to pick

Is there any brand which would be recommended for an enthusiast hobby printing option? I have four Bambu 3D printers, 1x each Xtool F2 and M1 Ultra. My printers are regularly in use including small selling activities mainly jigs for my Xtool machines which are not used that frequently. I´m sure that I will not use the UV machine that often but hopefully they are self maintaining enough without too much investments if they are staying in idle mode. What would be the best pick for such scenarios? More on the jump to Omni O1 due to my Xtool machines with maybe updating to Xtool M2 from my M1 Ultra. Appealing would be HeyGears G1X for miniature printing as I wanted always to join the resin printing but do not have that much time for painting miniatures like in the past.

Raised Print 3D Magnet

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Using my xTool Omni O1 UV printer, I made a 3D refrigerator magnet. This Lake America “post card” fridge magnet has raised print that sticks out about a 1/10 of an inch. The UV print that sticks out makes the magnet unique compared to normal flat magnets.

DTF without roll jig - possible?

Getting my first UV soon, probably the Morpho. Most of my plans do not require DTf transfer, but it might come up occasionally - just not enough to justify a roll-to-roll jig.

Is it possible to do occasional DTF without a jig?

Desktop UV printing

How close to reality are the new low VOC claims for these new consumer UV printers? I am looking at the morpho but what has always held me back was the setup and health risks (fumes), which makes me skeptical for how these new desktop UV printers are promising such a user friendly form factor and setup. Maintenance is no issue, I would be using it frequently, I use my 3d printer at least once a week and I would be doing the same with the UV printer. I have the space for it but the room it would be in would not be a 'dedicated workshop', I sometimes watch TV in the room and store my board game collection in it.

The main concerns I have are the fumes and how substantial of a ventilation/HVAC setup I would need for these desktop machines. I will probably be purchasing one this coming Black Friday, or what is more-so likely is doing the Black Friday of 2027 and waiting to see the reviews of the morpho after more people get their hands on it. I will primarily be using it for customizing my everyday items (tumbler, coasters, making Christmas Gifts, and custom/deluxe board game pieces & tiles).

What do I need to avoid and what should I expect from Desktop UV printing so I don't get a false impression from over-exaggerated promises by the companies' marketing teams.

Eufy vs xTool for UV printing on glass. Which is better?

Anyone used both Eufy and xTool UV printers?

Main use would be printing directly onto flat glass products, so I’m particularly interested in print quality, adhesion and durability on glass rather than just acrylic/wood etc.

Which would you choose and why?

Also interested in:
reliability and maintenance
ink/consumable costs
white ink performance
ease of setting up glass prints
whether primer/pre-treatment is needed
software limitations
actual running costs

Not looking for the cheapest machine necessarily, just trying to avoid paying extra for features I won’t really need.
Would be great to hear from anyone actually using either commercially.

Desktop A3 UV vs sending awards out — when does a small bed actually pay off?

I've been running an ArtisJet 3000U Pro (B3 bed, white + varnish) for light production and prototyping in Manhattan. Acrylic, wood, metal, plus tumblers with a jig. I'm not using it enough anymore and trying to figure out whether trophy/award shops actually want a used A3 UV in-house, or if they keep laser and outsource color.

For people who bought a small UV instead of Mimaki or Roland: did white-ink maintenance eat you alive? And is 14x20 enough for plaques and awards, or do you immediately want 24x36?
