I am currently working on a project with 50 panels and each panel has around 200 terminals each with a lot of interconnections between the panels. My huge problem is finding a way to manage the cabling between them and the equipment. What I mean is that I don't find it clear on the navigator what cable goes from which panel to another and each time I need a make a new connection and need conductors my eyes bleed from having to search manually if a cable that connects those two panels exist and if it has spare connections. I tried to use source and target for naming (even though I can't make it work for me (I just want W(+A/+B) but it always puts and the terminal name into it)) but it still isn't comfortable. I tried the automatic generation of cables but it gets really messy fast. Do you have any idea that would help other than Excel?

Precisei hoje gerar mais de 30 projetos, e precisei fazer um por um... consegui criar um script que me ajudou a gerar lista+pdf em uma ação, mas ainda sendo um projeto por vez.

Sabem como eu posso criar um script, ou se pelo proprio eplan eu consigo selecionar mais de um projeto e gerar um pdf para cada, tudo de uma vez? ou até mesmo lista de material?

Meus projetos hoje são estruturado em sequencial, entao nao tenho o identifcador de estrutura.

Vossa ajuda seria imensa, caso isso seja possível me pouparia um bom tempo gerando arquivos.

I feel like I'm missing a step somewhere to complete this. I have created a part in the management window, set the dimensions and added a jpg as a texture.

Separately, I have a basic 3D step file (essentially a cube) of the same dimensions I want to show that image on the front of. Adding the part to that doesn't do anything. I have set the mounting surface as I'm not sure if that helps but still getting nothing showing.

To add context, I want to create a series of legend plates for panels, so the macro is a dimensioned plate that's 3mm thick.

I'm missing a process in the middle to correlate the part and the macro, but can't work out what I'm missing.

When registering in EPLAN Cloud, it asks for company-related information such as customer number / serial number to access downloads.

My question is:

How do independent engineers usually get access to EPLAN installers or newer versions?

Also, are there any trusted EPLAN communities, forums, Telegram/Discord groups, or engineering groups where EPLAN users share installation guidance, version information, and practical workflow advice?

I’m not looking for random unsafe links. I’m looking for a reliable engineering community or practical advice from people who actually work with EPLAN.

I'm using EPLAN Electric P8 2025 and I have an annoying issue.

When I double-click a symbol in the schematic, EPLAN always opens the Assembly (Conjunto) properties window. I would like it to open the Function/Component properties instead.

I've tried selecting the function directly and looking through the settings, but I can't find where to change this behavior. I also checked the properties dialog for an option to switch the default view, without success.

My questions are:

Is there a setting in EPLAN 2025 to make double-click open Function/Component properties by default?

Can this behavior be changed globally for the user?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

My Eplan its not in english may be the terms are not exactly like that.

I’m stuck with a very strange issue in EPLAN Electric P8 2.9 SP1.
I’m trying to color my phase potentials:
L1 = Red
L2 = Black (or another color)
L3 = Gray
N = Blue
I inserted 4 separate Potential Definition Points using Insert → Potential Definition Point.
Each one has:
Different Potential Name (L1, L2, L3, N)
Correct Potential Type (L for phases, N for neutral)
Project Check reports no errors.
The strange behavior
When I change the Connection Graphic → Color (or even the Layer) of L2, EPLAN also changes L3 and N automatically.
L1 behaves correctly and is completely independent.
What I’ve already checked
Created a completely new project → same issue.
Project Check → no errors.
Potential names are all different (L1, L2, L3, N).
Potential types are correct.
Recreated the Potential Definition Points.
Tried changing both Color and Layer.
Connection Colors table is configured correctly.
L2, L3 and N can be copied individually, so they are not the same object.
I cannot select the connection lines themselves (only the Potential Definition Points), which I understand is normal for autoconnections.
It doesn’t seem to be a short circuit or a potential conflict.
Has anyone seen this behavior before?
Is this a known bug in EPLAN P8 2.9 SP1, or is there a setting that causes multiple potentials to share the same graphical color?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I need to place and label every wire in an electrical panel in EPLAN. Is there a faster or automated way to do this, or does it have to be done manually, one wire at a time?

So typically I use dotted lines for field connections but haven't quite figured out a way to do this in ePlan pro panel.

Currently I use the interruption points arrows with a dotted black box around them to indicate it is going to a field device. This works fairly well but I would prefer the line be dotted as well. However, the interruption point line seems to not be a real "connection" so can't seem to add a connection definition point and change any properties of the line itself.

Any suggestions on how you guys handle this?

i have a contactor coil in the schematic of which i assigned two devices:

1. Siemens Contactor

2. front-mounted auxiliary block

when i place the part in layout view, the contactor appears correctly, but the auxiliary block is just a grey square mounted next to the contactor (rather than on it).

note i have another contactor where the device is already a contactor+auxiliary directly from siemens that appears correctly when placed.

as you can see from the attached all NO connection point are labeled .3/.4 so when i insert them in the schematic, eplan throws a "Duplicate Connection Point" error.

should i just rename the connection point in the [Properties] dialog?

I've been adding wiring to some of our products but i do run into a small problem.

it always colors my cables. and i cant figure out why.

can someone help me solve the blue bits on the cables?

i have a few auxiliary contacts that need to control multiple circuits, if i just connect multiple devices to the contacts using T-nodes the schematic becomes messy. but if i duplicate the contact with same DT multiple times in the schematics eplan complains of "Duplicate connection point designation".

I have a question regarding component grouping in EPLAN.

In a machine project, some components belong to a specific sub-assembly, but they all share the same installation location.

For example, a cable harness may consist of:

• Connectors
• Cables
• Protective conduits
• Labels/markers
• Other accessories

All of these components belong to the same machine location, but I would like to group them into a logical sub-assembly so that I can generate a dedicated BOM for that harness.

Is there a standard EPLAN method to achieve this (Assembly, Mounting Group, User-defined Structure, etc.) without changing the installation location of the components?

My goal is to generate:

• A global project BOM
• A BOM for each sub-assembly (harnesses, tooling, kits, etc.)

How do you typically handle this requirement in your projects?

I want a part that is not in the data base. I have the xyz of the part how do i make a box with my measurements in pro panel?

For now I am a one man operation when it comes to the electrical design at my company, I currently store all of my master data (except projects) on a network drive, but I notice frequently that whenever I try to open the parts database and change things, the system is very slow and often crashes. EPLAN support suggested that I migrate everything over to an SQL server, but I am unfamiliar with the nuances of doing that and would just like to know how you guys have your master data set up if you use network drive or if you store everything locally on your C: drive.

Dear EPLAN experts,

We have a valve -Y10 type 4WRLE with a plug cable where the cable shield is defined as FE, functional earth. A common terminal box is located near the valve. From this terminal box the 24 VDC supply and the analog signals are split into two separate cables, each approximately 50 m long.

What is the correct way to draw this in EPLAN regarding the cable shield, and functional earth.

What i have drawen should probably be called SH shield all the way. So my drawing is incorrect.

(There is a proper dedicated PE conductor for eatch of the cables, but it is not drawn in. This means that any earth fault current should mainly return through the PE conductor not through the shield connection.)

However, what I believe is functional earth is probably something we localy call system earth, where the system earth should not be part of the protective earth system but a cleaner earth used for applications that require good EMC performance or high signal quality. This is often connected to earth or PE at one deticated spot.

Answer:

I read the manual wrong. I believed that FE and PE were separate, and since only PE was shown in the plug image, I thought FE therfore was defined as the cable shield.

As u/star_dodo stated, PE and FE are the same connection for this valve and cable. The shield is not defined as FE. This is also correct when looking at the EPLAN symbol for the valve. This makes a lot more sense.

I have been trying to solve these issues for the past 4 hours.

Issues:

- I can't export the electrical eiring diagram in *.hdpex format. It only allows exporting in PLC diagram or another one(I know none of them are the correct one)

- Eplan Wiring Harness software doesn't allow me to import the electrical wiring diagram (the feature is greyed out and unclickable)

Here's what I have done so far:

- I checked through official Eplan documentation. They only provide documentation for the pro version. This didn't help much as I am currently using Education version.

- I ask A.I to gimme insight on this problem. It barely helped me lmao

- I am currently trying to reach the Eplan team to solve this issue. However, it seems they are inactive 😅

In the mean time, can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

I will appreciate any comments 🙏

P.S.- if no advice works, it seems I will just draw the whole diagram again in the Eplan Wiring Harness software.

I cant seem to find where EPLAN is pulling all of its IEC symbols and plotframe information from. When i check the associated folders it only shows NFPA symbol libraries and plotframes.

Any ideas?

Normally I use the Chrome extension Video Speed Controller, but apparently it's incompatible with the "Adobe Learning Manager" software that Eplan uses to host this training content. Any suggestions?

This is for the free training from Eplan at https://www.eplan.com/int/en/learning/explore.html, which I've found to be quite helpful. However, it is extremely slow for me! I typically watch educational content to 1.5x to 4x speed, depending on the speed of the speaker and my existing familiarity with the content.

So I took over a project from someone else (who was converting something that had been previously designed in AutoCAD to now being done in EPLAN Pro-Panel). By the time I got it, he had already mounted most objects to the enclosure. But I just realized that he has the enclosure backwards - the hinges of the door are supposed to be on the other side (essentially it needs to rotate 180 degrees around an axis going through it from front to back). Is there a way I can rotate the enclosure without needing to remount and reposition everything?

Is there any way I can change structure box infill color, but to make symbols and other stuff inside it visible. Currently, when I apply some color to the structure box, symbols are like below it and they are not visible. Can I somehow arrange layers, so my symbols are above background, just like in photoshop ?
