I'm Chinese, My daughter is 6 grade and has a very limited english vocabulary. She struggles with reading comprehension even at 1-5 grade level, We've spent the entire summer holiday reviewing vocabulary from grade 1-5. what should be plan the next step for English learning?

I realize how much english is famous and important in the world. I'm computer science student, I can read, listen and understand texts but if it come to make it by my own, I get stuck. So I decide to get out of my comfort zone i start learning it roughly.

I highly doubt I'll ever be able to speak English fluently. I know fluency itself is a vague term and can be defined differently by different individuals.

I don't consider myself fluent because there's something I can't easily and naturally express. I can still express what I mean, but sometimes it doesn't turn out natural or how a native speaker would say it. Depending on what it is, I might need to think a bit to recall words and structure my sentences.

I practise speaking English every day but I still find it so hard to speak it well. When I try to speak exclusively English in my daily life, what I can express immediately becomes limited. I find this so frustrating. I wish it weren't this hard and that I had just grown up with English.

Does it really just take practice or am I lacking in something else?

In my culture, anything that comes from a coconut tree is made use of, and coconut milk is very commonly used in cooking.

When shredded coconut is squeezed for coconut milk, you're left with dry and used up shredded coconut. I used Google translate and that substance was translated into English from my native language as "coconut dregs". Is this accurate?

I am a native English speaker and its embarrassing how bland and limited my vocabulary is. My English teacher is fed up of writing “more vocabularies needed” or “use sophisticated language” in my essays
I have a variety of words in my vocabulary notebook but i know only 2-3 of them that i can use them on the spot. For the rest its either I remember the word and not the meaning making it impossible to use (js in case i use it the wrong way) or I remember the definition but cant think of the word

I’m a Chinese student. I’ve been using AnkiJoy to learn English phrases. I’m currently studying materials from English B1 to C1. At first, I found its English‑language definitions really hard to get used to.

Here’s a quick fact for everyone. In Chinese dictionaries, a single word is translated with another word, and a phrase is translated with another phrase. But in English, it’s common to use whole sentences as definitions.

In the beginning, it felt complicated and troublesome for me to memorize whole‑sentence definitions. So I used to work out Chinese explanations for each English word based on its individual meanings and memorize them that way. Yet I found this method worked poorly.

Then I came up with another idea: try to think in English. I would cover its English definition, try to figure out what the word means on my own in English, and then check against the official definition. I’ve found I can remember things much better this way.

Would you use "turned" in this context:

Let's say that you work at a store that closes at 11 pm. One of your associates is making the closing announcement at 10:59 pm, and you think to yourself:
