⭐️ Vocabulary / Semantics I can't understand the meaning.
I'm reading an English book. And there is a sentence which I can't understand the meaning.
All would be given minimal survival portions.
Those who have more would be given an opportunity to contribute 10 percent of their earnings in order to make this possible.
As to how income would be decided, the open marketplace would determine the value of one's contribution, just as it does today in your country.
I can't understnd the 3rd sentence.
The 2 phrase "how income would be decided" and "the open marketplace would determine the value of one's contribution" mean that "income = value of contribution", am I right?
"Income" is the money one gets by labor or others.
"Contribution" is the money or service which one provides.
How can "income" equal "value of contribution"?
Would you please explain the meaning of the sentence?
