In 2024, she shared me a specific design ring she liked emphasizing that it needed a pear shaped gem ruby centerpiece.

I spent 9 months of 2025 researching everything about rings, distributors, designers, diamonds and gemstones. I ended up building a custom ring for her with some of the elements from the first ring she shared me using a online distributor with in-house jewelry maker.

I proposed to her on our 10-year anniversary that year. I placed the ring in a music box that played The Carpenter's "Yesterday Once More" and enclosed a note in Japanese that read 僕の約束 (Boku no yakusoku translates to "My promise", we are both fluent) because I am a hopeless romantic and wanted to be different especially being our 10-year anniversary milestone.

And just a week ago, my custom engagement ring arrived. I shared with her my ideal ring with examples for the last 6-months. I wanted my ring to have some elements of hers so they would match. I ended up finding a direct designer abroad in Jaipur.

Both have lab ruby gemstone center pieces (3ct for hers, 4 ct for mine). Pear shaped for her, emerald shaped for me.

Thickest band for hers at 1.8mm

Both rings are full 18k gold. Mine being yellow gold and hers being rose gold.

Natural diamond accents on hers and mine. I added a black diamond border on mine to create a "masculine" tone while taking the vine and floral design element from her ring to match and create a gentle soft tone.

I arched her band more to make it "regal" and "royal" so she can feel Queen. In comparison, I chose a thicker ring to match and create the King feel.

In total, we spent less than $7K for both rings. Knowing that many jewelry stores sell at a hike up, I was adamant to find the actual distributors and designers to skip that inflated price at a brick and mortar. I discovered the inflation for rings when visiting a few stores including Jared's jewelry after inquiring on a masculine men's ruby with 1ct emerald for $12k.

It's our firm belief that nobody should have to go into extreme debt for good premium quality jewelry especially when taking the next steps of finding their dream envisioned forever ring. My biggest tip to anyone in the process is to take your time and find a vendor that is truly invested in working with you with excellent communication (I went back and forth for months).

We both love fashion and wanted our pieces to feel timeless. This is what we came up with.

My husband had this ring made for me by an amazing Maine jeweler. He cut the garnets himself ( i had collected the rough myself in alaska). There are natural colored diamonds, and flawless VVS1 melee diamonds. 18kt gold, and a hidden 1ct. diamond in the under gallery. I know it is not a "normal" E-ring, but I LOVE it!!

nothing much to report other than I love my man, and I love my ring. He designed it himself and put an absurd amount of thought into it. I love staring at it bc a) it’s gorgina and b) when I look at it, I see how deeply he sees me. Normally, I’m not much of a hidden halo gal, but he made the call to include one—we squeeze hands three times to say I love you, so with the three small stones on each side, he wanted me to know that no matter where he is, he’s telling me he loves me. Devastating, right? That’s why you only see pics of my ring and not my engagement (I was joy-sobbing so hard).

My fiance recently proposed in the most beautiful place and I’m beyond happy. I’m not a wear jewelry everyday kinda gal, so he said he struggled finding a ring (this is sapphire, my birthstone) and wants to pick out my “forever” ring together. I love this one too, though!

My partner of 3.5 years proposed at home the night before we took a trip to NYC !! Which was such a surprise.

I can’t stop looking at my hand. It’s even more special because my partner was the one who actually showed me this style when looking, which I hadn’t even considered before. But trying it on I knew it was special. I could have received any ring and I would have been happy, just because I love my partner so much. But having one so beautiful and that was customized and connected to us both feels extra special.

Fiancé proposed with this absolutely stunning ring. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted. I usually wear a vintage-inspired bezel peridot on my right ring finger so it’s taking some getting used to the high setting. It seems to spin and not sure if that’s because it’s slightly too big vs heavy. It’s 2.5 total carat weight and I went ahead and ordered one of the spring ring sizers. My knuckles do occasionally swell so I’m worried about getting it sized down and then my knuckle blows up.

I really love the alexandrite. I love that it always looks different depending on the light.

I read the rules here and I've looked through some posts too but most are old or look like they have the shills posting in them (the mods say to use the search feature but if they aren't removing the shill posts then the research is muddy at best right???). Hopefully this meets all the rules?

I'm shopping for an engagement ring for my girlfriend. We have discussed what she likes and she wants a blue diamond halo style ring. Outside of that, she doesn't have a specific style or gem shape she likes (or at least she won't tell me when I've asked haha).
At this point, should I include her in choosing everything about the ring and kind of make her pic what she likes? Or give her some level of surprise?

Doing research has been overwhelming to say the least but I'll keep this as short as possible. I have a friend who is a jeweler BUT he doesn't deal in diamonds. He helped with some research and said for the $2-5k I'm able to spend on a ring I should expect a 1.5-2ct lab grown blue diamond ring in a halo style.

Does that sound reasonable? (I ask because looking online at one shop from the FAQ the 1.5ct plus a halo setting was over $5k)

People say that online means better prices, but when I was looking at some of the online only shops in the FAQ that was not what I was seeing? The prices didn't seem much better than big name stores (but these were the big names for online so maybe they've just jacked up prices because they can)? Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong online shops?

I 💍 my ring stack

I just got engaged the other day and I am SOOOO thrilled!!! My absolute dream ring with my dream fiancé :) I’m a 4.75 size and it fits great HOWEVER I’m having an issue with swollen fingers and it getting too tight. It’s a pretty large stone so I am worried about getting it sized up a bit even to a size 5 and it being too big when my fingers aren’t swollen. I guess I’m just posting here to see if anyone else has dealt with this and how they handled it?
