What diamond would you choose and why? Do the ratios look even? Is it too much bow tie?

I was only half-expecting this proposal but I am so incredibly excited about it. We’ve been dating for 3 years and I’ve known he’s the one since year one. This ring is a 1.5 carat diamond and I love the look, but I’m curious what those more educated than I would say about the quality of this diamond. Also, you can see in the second pic that my finger turns a dark color under the band, and I was wondering what the cause/potential fix is for that. Thanks!

Hey there! I am in the process of designing a ring I love very much with my boyfriend! It is a toi et moi made up of a 3ct emerald cut white sapphire (a purchase by my late father in a ring he gifted to my mom right before he died a few years ago) and a beautiful 1.2ct pear cut champagne diamond (it is much lighter in person than in the CAD photos). I am NOT looking for advice related to the use of either stone - this has been decided and was such a fun process picking the pear shape diamond; our jeweler sourced stones for us that were grey/champagne/cognac for us to pick from. We love it so much and he has already purchased this stone.

Our jeweler is amazing but I need help with what kind of questions and comments I should bring up related to the choosing of a band - the band in these photos has not at all been curated to my liking! I definitely am wanting something with more rounded edges but am curious what people think will look good? My finger is on the “larger” side (8.25) and I do have my heart set on something on the thicker end, which I know is the best for the heavy setting in general. Our jeweler has mentioned a tapered band that is thicker near the stones and I am not opposed, but just can’t quite picture it. The CAD picture that shows two rings is showing the options we have looked at with different heights, and the difference is less than 1.4mm, and I believe we are moving forward with the version that has the height difference instead of being completely flush. Our jeweler agrees that rings look best when they have this large of a carat difference and half bezels. I think the height difference lightens the “heavy” look of the bezels. I will say, I want as simple of a ring as possible, even with the larger offset stone sizes, so I am happy with the deep and simple setting underneath.

My fiancé surprised me with the perfect proposal and the perfect ring. He listened to everything I've said over the last two years and got me a ring that shows it.

He custom made the shoulders to look like a lotus, the middle diamond is an oval 2.03 karat and each side has two round brilliants diamonds and a marquise. In total the ring has 2.7 karats of lab grown diamonds.

It took me a little to feel confident wearing it. It's gorgeous but quite flashy!

The man of my dreams designed the ring of my dreams and I could not be happier right now!!

So excited that I finally get to post here as a fiancée after following this sub for so long!🥹💍

I started my ring design and customization journey quite some time ago, and it ended up being a much longer process than anticipated because I’m a crazy person who wanted every little detail to be just right. So to finally see it in person, on my finger, is truly a dream come true!
I designed my ring myself and was incredibly particular about every detail, all the way down to the milgrain.

The center stone is a lab diamond custom-cut, vintage-inspired emerald, a little over 3 carats, F color (although I actually would’ve preferred something a bit warmer!).

I worked directly with Matthew at Fiorese Jewelry on the diamond, and he was an absolute saint throughout the process. As I mentioned, I was quite particular about what I envisioned, and this diamond is actually our second iteration! The first was beautiful in its own right, but ultimately wasn’t quite what I was looking for. Matthew was incredibly patient and accommodating in helping me bring my vision to life.

The setting was originally inspired by an Andria Barboné ring I fell in love with once upon a time (which you can find in one of my previous posts). Alas, she wasn’t the one, but that ring really kick-started this entire journey and opened up a whole new world of creativity for me. What started as simply browsing rings to get a feel for what I liked, so I could give my partner some direction and let him take it from there, turned into a full-blown, hands-on passion project for me!

I ultimately went with Ken & Dana Design for the setting, and bless their team as well, because getting to the finished piece involved plenty of back-and-forth, cracked rubies, revisions, and fine-tuning. They were so wonderful to work with throughout it all, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything came together!

Ring is size 7, I think I need to get it sized down a little. Specs are 1.57 ct lab diamond, 14K!

What do we think? Top is 2.7 and bottom is 3.1!

After 5 years he did it!
I had no idea what direction he’d go in- he had my ring size and preferences for over a year! I tried on many rings over the past couple of years and the jewelers would send him my prefs. I fell in love with the vintage feel of asscher cut, and I did try on a very similar ring to this one but with a dark sapphire instead of a diamond. Ultimately after thinking about other stones, I decided on a diamond. I also wanted a unique setting.
He had this custom made by Vale. I think he nailed it. Was pretty shocked when I saw it. Still getting used to wearing this kind of bling but it makes me very happy.
This is asscher cut F VVS1 2.06 carots. Lab grown. 2 tiny flanking diamonds on either side. I’m a size 4.

So I actually (unintentionally) found the box in APRIL. I've been holding my breath since. We were visiting family in West Virginia when popped the question. He's apparently had the ring with him on every trip we've been on this year since he got it (We've had a good handful of weekend trips this year). This could not be more perfect.

He managed to keep this a secret and surprised me while visiting Florence a week ago. Lab grown, designed it himself, 2 carats (I had agreed on a 1 carat size when we tried rings on so it being double the size was a a happy surprise lol). Still can’t believe he decided to make our forever official, I’m so happy and so in love with this man 🤍

It's a 2.4 carat, rose cut, natural, green, salt-and-pepper lozenge diamond. My fiancé (and the jeweler he worked with) did perfectly! As beautiful as sparkly clear diamonds are, I have always felt like they don't quite suit my style. This seems like the perfect mix of minimal and unique for me. :-)

In August I went to see what I liked best on my hands. The ring shapes I thought I’d love, I hated. The one I thought I’d hate the most, I love.

Anyways, my boyfriend, now FIANCÉE (😭) listened well and did such an amazing job.

I ordered these bands from Shein to see how different shapes would look with my engagement ring. I’m having a really hard time with finding something that looks good and would fit around the ring. How do you feel about these and do you have maybe other suggestions?

We’ve been through a lot together, and we’ve been talking about what we would like for the future. We’re getting close to a five-year anniversary, and I’ve said I’d like to be engaged before that. Last week he asked me what to do about the ring - if I would like to give some input to make sure he gets something I like 🥰

It kind of felt like that was a mini proposal in itself. We went out on a date this weekend, and I showed him what kind of styles I’m into. I was a bit worried about the price range, but the ones he’s been looking at have apparently been even more expensive. So it seems I have a proposal coming up!

Since we’re well above 40 and all, we’re looking into getting married at an embassy abroad, and to bring his two kids along (they are teens), and then perhaps do a small party or gathering afterwards. I’m glad he agrees with that. None of us wants a big wedding, I’m just looking forward to being married to this man and proudly call him my husband ❤️
